There has been a "rumour" that the maintenance team for 'Honey I Shrunk the Audience' at Epcot have been told to “postpone all HISTA effect based renovation projects”.

This isnt a clear sign that they would replace it with Eo... they could just be cutting costs.... but you never know!

There are unconfirmed reports flying around Disneyland fan sites :

Update : HISTA closes on May the 3rd and Captain Eo opens in June, Press Release officially annoucing the return of this attraction will be released some time next week.

At the moment don't get too excited - lets wait for a statement from Disney which according to the above should be this week. They could also announce Epcot too.

If both Orlando and Paris get this back it may not be the new digital print - they may just change the films over - this would save the costs for them...

Following the recent move by the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Captain EO will soon return to the Tokyo Disneyland Resort, presented by JCB. The attraction, which returns on July 1, originally ran at the resort from March 20, 1987 until September 1, 1996.


Captain EO will be available at Tokyo Disneyland through June 30, 2011 and will replace MicroAdventure! which will close on May 10, 2010 for the switch. FASTPASS will be available.


Looks like the Epcot and Paris rumours could be getting stronger. :wild:

This is so goooodddd!!! Japan has always been so loyal de Michael, you deserve it completely. And so does Europe, so let's hope this will go to Paris too.
Bad for me, anyway.... for I live not even close to those countries, but well... one can't have it all. I am glad for you, guys!!!!

I've been to Tokyo Disneyland when MJ was there in 2007. It was such a great experience! And TDL is so pretty, I like it so much!

Got to see Captain EO a little over a week ago. I still knew every word by heart, which was so fun! And so was all the awesome 80s-ness of it all, including the preshow. It was a packed theater, and it was all love for Michael from the moment the lights dimmed until they came back up. That made it so much more special than it already was. Fun!!!

I went to Disneyland prepared to spend some money on EO merchandise, and, no doubt, I exceeded my expectations (and budget!). LOL I bought the jacket, the black t-shirt with the EO logo and the button. If I were made of money I would have bought all of it. I wanted the retro white sweatshirt, but I restrained myself. The jacket was my must-have. They didn't have a price on any of the jackets (which are chained to the display). If you want to buy one, you have to go to a cashier, and they will get one out of the back for you. So I didn't even know the price until I was about to pay. I was a little shocked when the cashier told me the jacket was $170. But I just told myself that I had to have it and that I would regret it if I didn't get it. So far, I'm totally loving my decision.

And as if I didn't already (and always) want to go back to Disneyland, I saw this today from Disney:
"Released Today - April 26!
We are pleased to announce the release of some additional Captain EO inspired merchandise including a ladies junior cut "Rainbow" tee, a keychain and a pin."

It's now official : Captain Eo will also return to Disneyland Paris on June 26th, 2010 for an undetermined period.

The date will likely change depending on the progress of work to accommodate the attraction in the French park.
