MJ Estate Statement Re: Justin Bieber Slave To The Rhythm Recording. [Merged]

Release Slave to the Rhythm with some Timbaland production and the original 89 version as a B-Side or iTunes exclusive extra or something.

= SMASH HIT & HAPPY FANS
Release it on a CD as well on iTunes and I would be perfectly happy although they could just release the Tricky Stewart version 'cause it's done and ready.

As soon as the song came out people lashed out and attacked the Estate, Sony and everyone else who'd ever met MJ. Now we know they didn't authorize it and might not had even known about it, will people apologize for attacking the Estate unnecessarily/without knowing anything? How come it's not ok for someone to do it towards MJ, but it's cool to throw all sorts of stuff Biebers way?

Doh, I wanted to reply. Why are you speaking for everybody here? I did apologize to the Estate for coursing them when they weren't the ones to blame for this shameful incident.

Did I say that? No, stop jumping to conclusions. I just said the way people acted towards the Estate was disgraceful given the lack of information at the time.

Actually we still have lack of information about how much the Estate is involved in this duet. They say the recording is unauthorized but we do not really know what that means exactly. Did they contemplate it but then decided not to use it? Do they still contemplate it, only not this one but one where, let's say, there's a bit more of Michael's vocals? It's still very vauge. The possibilities are IMO:

1) Bieber recorded it because the Estate/Sony asked him to record it for an upcoming album.

2) Bieber somehow got hold of it illegally and recorded and leaked it illegally. Then the Estate should sue him.

Oh right, sorry. I spoke for "everybody" because a lot of people were quick to comment but as more came out they didn't say much. Wouldn't apologize which I felt was wrong.

Reading some of these posts makes me think the people posting them haven't read the rest of this thread lol. I've already explained why I hate justin, and so have many other people on here. If you still don't understand where all this hate is coming from you clearly haven't been paying attention. He's an arrogant arsehole, who thinks he can act how he wants anywhere he wants. He smokes weed, he spits from balconies...and now he replaced most of the vocals of an MJ song with his own. He clearly has no respect for MJ or anybody else...

Or, Bieber got hold of the song through producers and prepped it to give it to Estate. Not legal I don't think either? But with the lack of information I was wondering why everyone all of a sudden through everything the Estates way when no one knew anything. That's all.

About the weed thing; he did it once and apologised due to how badly his fans reacted so he clearly does care for people but whatever dude. everyone has different opinions, press influenced or whatever.

How can anyone react to something as upsetting as this? Who would people blame when they know nothing at the time? WE knew nothing! now, especially when it's about an unreleased track, known only by fans and whoever worked on it at the time? I'd say the Estate. Having said that, I NEVER blamed them but I said "IF" they had something to do with it, then I was completely DONE with their moves... I don't see why it's so aggravating if some have reacted the way you say, I mean it's ok to lash out on them about official things like the Wembley DVD but NOT this? c'mon now

It's throwing punches in the dark. We had no idea what was going on/who leaked it/who was involved. Wembley is NOTHING like this, we knew FULL well the Estate were behind it unlike this. It's completely different.

Yup, we do all have our opinions. And i'm not going to believe he just doesn't smoke it anymore because he said he was sorry lol. Although it is good he apologised.

I don't like the word `leak` in the statement, to be honest.

That's exactly what you do when you don't know something, you go for the more obvious target. And we still don't know fully. By the way, I'm not saying that the actual release of Wembley is anything like this, we did know they were behind it, that's the reason why I say it's beyond me how you expected people not to lash out on them about an (at the time & still partially )unknown Bieber issue. Many people will assume they have something to do until proven differently, that's a fact so it's NOT different, they'll always be the ones to blame until they make an official, convincing statement that they aren't.

easy to blame people without knowing a thing I guess then

MJ ONLINE TEAM'S EMAIL RESPONSE TO ME:

"Hi :

The song which leaked this week was not authorized for release of any sort. It should not have been made available on the Internet, nor should radio stations be playing it. Whoever uploaded the song is also likely responsible for distributing it to radio. Unfortunately, with the way technology works, once a song has been uploaded and disseminated by the original unauthorized party and then by fans who spread the song even more, it is very difficult to scrub the Internet of the song completely.

We can assure you that the Estate is quite upset about the leak and is doing everything in its power to get the song removed from as many sites and YouTube channels as possible.

Best,
Alicia

not authorized for release, but authorized to be made? make it clear and go after Justin and his team if they've done wrong!

They'll just have to deal with it the RIGHT way, they're in charge of Michael's legacy and dignity as an artist. That's all I care about and if they're in for that, I'll support them all the way, otherwise you or anybody can expect me to blame them for not doing so any day.

Of course but why not wait until something is said before throwing mindless insults and punches towards the Estate? *not you but anyone in general*

I guess people were too angry at the situation. I know I was but I wouldn't insult them. Don't know what people said but I guess they just couldn't control themselves. Again, don't know what they said, so I can't speak for them.

I'm loving it! SME is taking the remix down!

Good job guys! +1

Smoking weed doesn't make you a bad person. But he's definitely smoked more than once and he still does it. Just a mere couple of months ago his tour bus was stopped and searched because it reeked of marijuana and as such they found it. The only reason he apologized for the Lil Twist situation is because he was caught on camera. He's still a pretty heavy toker.

Again, being a weed smoker doesn't make you a bad person. Its all the other crap he does.

And I agree with JW about Bieber having no respect for Michael. To replace the majority of Michael's vocals with his own, just screams "me, me, me".

This STILL does not confirm nor deny that a release is/was intended. And because they still haven't made any type of public statement the more I think it is/was intended for release.

Lmao they seem to think were unhappy about the leak not the duet its self haha ass clowns

Thanks for the more extensive response ivy. It's still not entirely clear, but this strengthens the earlier impression I got that the Estate was involved at some point with this remix (which, really, also makes much more sense than Justin Bieber stealing an acapella track). Everything they say only refers to the leak, not the fact that the song was recorded in the first place.

Why can't the estate simply release a public statement to clear up this mess! Why/how was it recorded? And was it intended to be officially released, and if so is it still?

The thing is this isn't the first time this has happend nor will it be the last - lots of artist / producers get their hands on MJ demos or unreleased stuff and do a mix or somthing and this is all how I'm seeing it with JB and STTR.
Take Ice cube and We be Ballin' simlier thing - only difference is JB is one of the most famous pop stars in the world that's why it's getting the attention. For now anyway.

I have no problem with respected artists (Something that Justin Bieber is not) putting their own spin on MJ's music, but the original versions of MJ's songs should also be released so people can hear MJ's original vision
