Yup, and which version would you like? Original version of course, but if you had to pick a reworked version, you would probably pick someone who worked on it, right?Of course. It is the same as Tricky doing Slave To The Rhythm. MJ never worked with neither of them.

Right. See I think the point is charts don't matter if it means they're whoring his songs (with questionable collaborations, for example). Michael wanted big sales, but his artistic dignity came first. You can always play safe and have a duet with the current hot thing and double the sales cause you have two fan communities supporting the song. but it would only work with this song and not the whole album. Personally, I'd rather see Sony and the estate working day and night on actual PR for the whole album, which I think they kind of failed to do with the last few projects. Projects with great potential didn't sell as much as was expected.
and lets just say this remix is released and goes straight to 1# - I can actually see how people are going to say JB helped MJ get his first 1# in years. I wanna see another MJ song\album go like hotcakes, but I want it to be his success and nobody else's. Especially when we still have full songs.
LOL Justin's fans are delusional as hell.
The fact that Bieber's been in the industry for five years and doesn't even have any REAL accolades to his name should say something.
Even comparing Lady Gaga to Bieber...she has five times the amount of awards he does and she's been around about the same amount of time, including five Grammy wins under her belt.
I can't wait for the day Justin disappears. It'll be the greatest moment of my life.
They (the Estate) need to make money, that is their job.
Eh? No, their job is to take care of Michael Jackson's legacy and his fans. They need to make money to be able to do that, but making money should not be number one priority. Thats when you get half-arsed releases, like the BAD25 DVD.
This, to me, is very condescending towards MJ as an artist. Striving to be the best-selling artist of all time by pushing yourself to create the absolute best, timeless music you can is not the same as 'being all about sales'.Of course they need to look after the MJ legacy, but that also means taking it forward for as long as they can, and that of course requires them to make money. The more money the better for them (salary) and the kids (inheritance) and Sony (profit).
MJ fans endlessly moan about 'integrity' etc but at the end of the day MJ was all about sales. He loved selling millions of albums and he loved being the biggest artist in the world. In my opinion he would love having massive success with posthumous projects, such as This Is It, Cirque du Soleil shows etc. I think MJ would be happy with Sony using his music to appeal to the masses again, and I think if the MJ Estate try to be sympathetic when they rework his unreleased material then it should be ok. This Bieber thing has been blown out of proportion, because while the MJ Estate may have requested Bieber work on STTR, they would never have given authorisation for the leaked version to be released in its current state - it has too much Bieber. The person who leaked it is responsible for this mess, not the MJ Estate.
As anyone ever noticed that all media darlings are white? It started with The Beatles and Elvis Presley and now it's happening with Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake. Is it a coincidence?
Not only is fans but also the media. The media treats Bieber as if he's this well respected and well loved singer when it reality it's the complete opposite.
Justin Bieber is one of the biggest media darlings i have ever seen
Just heard the song. This is such a classic MJ song that there shouldn't be anyone else in the song. I wonder if the were short on lyrics that they added someone to it. But please at least ask someone with a good track record, maybe Justin Timberlake. And preferrably I'd have this song as an MJ song only. It has such a great beat.

No one is saying that this is the worst thing to have ever happened to MJ. If it is bothering you so much that people are talking about this, why not just avoid this thread?if this is such a tragedy stop talking about it. maybe then people will forget and move on, you are all only prolonging the effects by telling yourselves this is the worst thing to have ever happened to mj.

If a good, respectful product is released, I am sure most of us would be quite happy. People seemed more or less unanimously excited about the unreleased tracks on Bad 25, for instance (not talking about the criticism of the overall package, just the tracks).Oh, it's so depressing reading this forum - can't we be happy about ANYTHING!?
It is. That does not mean we should blindly accept whatever is being released by his Estate now though. Yes, his legacy is of course secure, but the Estate should be releasing products that honour it and enhance it even further, not do it a disservice. His legacy is ASSURED. It's done.

Given Bieber's obvious reverence for the pop star, it's disappointing that this remix doesn't have a little more impact. The original "Slave to the Rhythm" is by no means Michael Jackson's greatest song, but at least it sounds like a Jackson song. This remix scrubs the song of much of its personality in favor of a generic, club-ready techno beat. Dedicated Beliebers will undoubtedly eat it up, but it's unlikely to convert any Michael Jackson fans to Bieber's army.
It does!?but at least it sounds like a Jackson song.
^^^ It does!?
