Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

What's being premiered on Thursday? First single or a random song from the album?
We dunno - we just speculate
I think it will be a random song or the first single :)

I heard a rumour that the single is available tonight at midnight?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

The release dates in each country have nothing to do with Sony. Each country varies on what day they release. Each Country has a certain DAY that they usually release albums. That is why the difference in release dates. It has nothing to do with Epic or Sony .

Uk is Mon (may 12th)
USA is Tue (may 13th)
other countries are Thurs or Fri ( may 8th or 9th

Even though those are the regular release days, it is not mandatory to release then.

I think most acts release this day as it is the maximum amount of time before the chart closes.

As I remember, in the UK, HIStory was released on a Friday and Blood on the Dancefloor on a Wednesday.

Yes i liked the new version of APWNN, But I think I prefer the leaked version better. Its very nostalgic and sounds so much like a Horse with no name which i also loved. I'm very attached to that song. but hey i may grow attached to the new one as well, once i hear it a few times. Songs have to grow on me..

Im sure it isn't mandatory as well. but is common practice for maximum first week sales in the charts . They want to come in strong the first week.

The point is though, Sony could have elected to release in major markets on the same day - as Prince of Pop suggested.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

When I became a fan back in the 80s, I remember I was listening to OTW, THRILLER and BAD albums over and over again. Only 10 songs on OTW, 9 on THRILLER and 10 on BAD. So frustrating to have so few songs to listen to, I thought to myself. I don't even remember how many copies of THRILLER and BAD cassettes I bought, because I was listneing to them so often that the tape got damaged, broken, unlistenable. I went to the music stores every week and bothered :naughty: the shop assistants over and over again with the same question: "Is there going to be a new MJ album soon?" And their answer was always the same "We have it, it's BAD". Grrrrrrrr, BAD, BAD, BAD, although I absolutely loved it (it's my favorite album), I wanted new songs. BADLY! There wasn't internet, and to obtain some leaks was near to impossible. So I wanted anything from MJ. Any sound, any kind of song! I didn't care if it was going to hit the charts or not, I wanted to hear his voice in a song that I had never heard before. I didn't care about the melody. To me it was like drugs. I was completely addicted to MJ's voice and any kind of music he did.

Then suddenly, I had fears. I thought what would happen when he dies? No more songs? It was like cutting the drug supply to an addict. So I hoped that he recorded a huge amount of songs and that one day or another they wiould be released for generations to come. And of course, I wanted to see him perform forever. I never wanted him to die.

Anyway, the first unreleased and less known songs I heard was back in 1992: Someone Put Your Hand Out" (which I didn't find as good as other songs on Dangerous, but I didn't care, I loved it anyway, cuz it was MJ's voice.) Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin', This Is The Man and Get It.
Before that the first unknown song to me that I had heard on the radio was State Of Shock (cuz it wasn't on any of the three albums I was listening to) and of course Leave Me Alone release later which I was crazy about.

It was like fresh air. I was in heaven.

But today, what do I see here in this thread or in the forums in general? A generation of a bunch of spoiled fans that have everything so easily on YOUTUBE and other web sites. Spoiled to the core and unhappy with almost anything related to MJ.

Man, if they released Niteline, Trouble, and any other les radio friendly songs, I wouldn't give a damn about the charts. Just give me some high quality sound with MJ's voice on it.

As far as the hype is concerned, it is possible to re-create it with people dealing appropriately with MJ's vision, imagination and magic. But as long as some people tend to seek profit out of MJ, then don't expect any hype. Without magic there is no hype. People who deal with MJ's legacy should do it

FIRSTLY out of LOVE
SECONDLY tend to create MAGIC

then and ONLY THEN there will be HYPE
and what comes after hype? MONEY. Eventually they should create magic and then think of money, and not the other way round.

Now, all the debates about Anka and other stuff, well who cares, let's have MJ's songs, all of them released!
You weren't aware of The Jacksons' releases back then?

This is one of the smartest things anyone has said in this thread in a while. The unwarranted and unreasonable negativity, arguing and complaining have caused me to stay away from this discussion more and more in the past week. We live in a time where instant satisfaction and a constant stream of information and updates are seemingly expected in everything, and the moment people are not getting exactly what they want when they want it, boredom sets in and endless complaining ensues. How impatient can you be? How ungrateful can you be? How disrespectful can you be?

Maybe having grown up in the 80's and 90's makes it hard for me to relate to this kind of behavior. Maybe it's just the norm these days -- a product of our time and of a generation that seems too busy and impatient to stop and smell the roses every now and then, to close their eyes and just enjoy what they have... Or to appreciate having something to look forward to and be excited about instead of getting agitated about not having it *right now* and using that agitation as fuel to complain, criticize, argue and accuse. It's just plain sad that something that is incredibly exciting constantly and inevitably gets a dark cloud cast over it by this kind of behavior, and these people should really take a closer look at their idol and his general attitude towards life, art and the human race. They might learn a thing or two.

This post has prompted my first post in a year!!! :)

I think this is a generational thing. I feel exactly the same.

What amazed me was reaction to Bad25. For me, you had a stunning live CD, a stunning live concert of MJ as his visual & performance peak and people complain about quality & high definition!!!

It's like a blind man getting his eye sight and complaining that he doesn't like the colour of his sofa.

I appreciate people have had their fingers burnt by 'Michael', although for me that was even worth it for the two great tracks and two pretty good it gave me (Behind The Mask & Much Too Soon plus Hollywood Tonight & Another Day respectively).

Anyway, looking forward to Xscape..but because I don't like the font used on the cover I shan't be buying it ;)

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

1) 50 Cent features on LNFSG and Eminem

7) STTR and DYKWYCA are the 2010 demos we heard (Hmm quite possible)

Ok, firstly, the Eminem thing would be f***ing awesome!!!1 I love Em and know he never meant the s**t half the fanbase think he did. The bit on Encore where he talks about Michael whilst naming loads of his songs is great stuff, even if the album itself was a little lackluster

In regards to number 7. Those are not the demos from 2010. They were finished songs. I think it is safe to assume we will get different versions. Though the DYKWYCA one is likely to just be without Steve Lukathers guitar.

Honestly, BAD25 WAS a crappy release:

The original album was mastered horribly, all dynamics were gone. Awful listen.

The mastering was awful. Not done with care. The special edition of 2001 was under Michael's supervision it was good compared to the vinyl '87 release.

The concert was unwatchable and badly mixed. The surround audio was poorly done and was almost an insult to David Powell, who recorded this song.

I think the Special Edition sounded like crap. Best of them was OTW.

I'd stick to the original vinyls, though.
