I’m suspecting that, given Porcaro’s recent comments that he’s been working on the song for a future release, there’s a full album planner for next year. That feels a lot more plausible than T40.

Say Say Say remix will be on Thriller 40 or on Kygo's new album, but it's sure to be released soon since in addition to playing it live he also posted a preview on his instagram a few days ago.
I’d like to hear it! I don’t love either of the released Anka songs (at least in their original states; the Xscape remixes of LNFSG and the Anka remix of TII are both wonderful), but I’m interested in hearing the actual song.
It's a common practice now. Just check the latest deluxe reissues of The Beatles, John Lennon, George Harrison, King Crimson, The Who and all other rock legends, they are all doing this. It's about showing the genesis of a classic album, new songs can definitely wait. After all, the targeted audience is mainly the hardcore fans. Hell, last year's John Lennon / Plasctic Ono Band contains 7 discs of different (but not so different) mixes of the entire album, and the fans don't even feel fatigued by them.
