We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video now in first post.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

I think I see one of Tito's sons in the last picture. I know it's for a good cause but no one gave more than Michael did. As for Lionel, he was Michael's friend and I heard him say the weekend before Michael died that their kids had a play date. The way he hugged the kids was genuine.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

Why is Fonzworth in there?

I am happy Kanye, Brandy & Toni Braxton made the group. Love them.

Hate on Quincy all you guys want because I hate him too!

Ha ha ha

Taylor Swift boarded a plane to Australia after the Grammys so we can stop hating on her. I'm not a fan either god she's annoying but can't do much if you have schedules in place.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

When Michael wrote "What more can I give" in 2001 he brought everyone together in unity. The reason it was so beautiful Michael was a wonderful teacher. Just watch how he leads them:

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

Guys, please be respectful to other artists than MJ. He would have been proud on this project. It's all for a good cause! I will support it!

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

Nicole's always wanted to sing ever since her ''Simple Life'' days.. Lionel being her father of course included her into this project. ( No pun, disrespect etc intended, I'm cool with Nicole being there :) )

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

I understand...I feel the same way.

They just said Kid Cudi and swizz Beats wrote a rapping verse. What has the world come to? We don't need a rap verse on every damn song.

ugh....i had a feeling this might happen WTF!

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

And Nicole was Michaels Goddaughter so I like them having some family in it

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

I love Lionel Richie but on this occasion he is a liar........

First, he said that all the stars from the Grammys would be there but in fact most of the big winners failed to turn up!!!

Second, he said that there will just be the new generation of artists and then he invites oldies like Gladys Knight and Barbera Streisand!!!!!!!!

maybe the singers i mentioned didn't agree with the remake like some of the fans do.

this project could have been brilliant . . . . . but . . . . . i don't see that anymore!

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

Beyonce and Taylor Swift are still said to be lending their voices to the project but will be doing it elsewhere.
Janet is also said to be recording her vocals today while in ATL. (Michael's Part)

Michael would have been the first person to lend his support to Haiti.
The fans should be ashamed of themselves at how they are reacting, Michael would want as much money raised as possible so if it means remaking this song then so be it.
At the end of the day its not about which song is being used, its about the 150,000 people who have lost their lives and the millions that are left with nothing.

So much selfishness on this forum.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

I'm very happy they are doing this to help people in Haiti. I'm just mad about 2 people who were disrespectful to Mike that are there :( Other than that. I'm happy about the song.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

Look at this:

Quincy Jones is saving perhaps the most touching moment for last. At the request of Katherine Jackson, Maya Angelou penned a poem to be read at the end of the song. Quincy is going to speak to Michael's children about reading that narration.

Just because some might not support the cause doesn't mean they don't support the cause :mello:

Michael Jackson's Influence Lives On In 'We Are The World' Remake

Janet Jackson will represent her brother in new version of the song he co-wrote.

By Jocelyn Vena

A number of today's biggest stars gathered on Monday night to record "We Are the World — 25 for Haiti," the classic 1985 charity single re-imagined as a benefit for earthquake relief. Though song co-writer Michael Jackson passed away last summer, his presence was most definitely felt in the studio, where fellow co-writer Lionel Richie and producer Quincy Jones had assembled more than 80 singers, rappers and actors for the new version.

To make sure that listeners feel his presence too, Janet Jackson will be representing her brother in the new recording. "She's doing Michael's part in the middle the same part Michael did," Jones told the press. "She's representing Michael."

Many of those involved on Monday said MJ's part in the original will always remain their favorite. "My favorite part of the song — it would be the bridge [when Michael comes in]," said Mya, who hinted that Jackson's voice might make it onto this version too. "I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to share. ... We do hope [to have Michael's voice on the track]."

"I was not born yet, but the song has had a huge impact on me," Jordin Sparks said. "And I've always loved Michael's love for the world and for the Earth and for other people and to help and give back."

Celine Dion, who paid tribute to Jackson at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, noted that by re-recording the song, they are not only helping the people of Haiti but also remembering the passion Jackson had for helping those in need. "In a way it was because of him I learned English. I had my posters in my bedroom when I was a young, young kid," she recalled. "The atmosphere [in the studio] is amazing. People are very touched to be there. We're talking about somebody who was living through music and his passion was to try to help and change the world through his lyrics and what he was doing."

Akon, who worked on music with Jackson before his death, fondly remembered stories Jackson told him about working on the original "We Are the World." "The wild part about it, Michael used to tell me stories about making the 'WATW' song and then working with Lionel," he said. "I never thought I'd be in a position to be remaking it and actually be able to tell the story myself one day."

Richie and Jones were quick to point out that if Jackson were still alive, he'd want to be just as involved with the song as he was 25 years ago, though maybe in a different role. "I know it's hard to believe, but if Michael were, alive he'd stand behind the scenes," Richie said.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

Did you notice that some of the stars, and BEP especially, wear outfits similar to MJs jackets and military style?

That's not original to Mike. Jimi Hendrix sometimes wore military style jackets.

So this is a family thing?
really?

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

How can I take this seriously when they give Lil Wayne Bob Dylan's part???

This is about EGO and not Haiti

Amen! That's what I'm saying the whole time this seems to be more about Mr. Soandso's ego than about Haiti and charity is supposed to come from the heart otherwise it's meaningless.

I have a right to my opinion hun!!! If you don't like it scroll past it.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

I can't help but feel that there is no Love in this remake, but more of a ego boost for Quincy Jones.

Well... I love Josh Groban, so that is good for me :)
He tweeted about it last night: "Just sang my heart out for 5 hours...This is a group performance that people will remember forever. Two names...Streisand and Weezy."

Fine.

As for the others... I had no idea Vince Vaughn and Nicole Richie sang.... wow...

Whatever, I just care about Michael and he is not there. This is not for Michael, so they can do what they pleased. However, they should recognize they are using Michael's name to attract the attention of media.

Oh yes.... you know, I am old now. I feel really very, very old. Music without Michael is no longer the same. This might be very good for so many people, but for me, it offers but a bit. Music without Michael is not the same and I hate it. I have loved music all my life and now I am lost. Silly me, I feel some songs should remain untouched, just as Michael made them, for those are part of Michael. So all these guys coming and using his creation its like they were walking on the fresh flowers Michael took care of for so long. So it hurts

I am such a fool

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

Amen! That's what I'm saying the whole time this seems to be more about Mr. Soandso's ego than about Haiti and charity is supposed to come from the heart otherwise it's meaningless.

See what I mean??

Guess what people, we all know damn well Michael would have been the first to help Haiti, there is absolutly no doubt about it.

But I also know Michael would recycle a classic because Michael knows that Haiti deserves better than a recycled record full of ego maniacs.

What did he do when Katrina and 9/11 hit???
He didnt half ass it that's for sure, and this is a bunch of half ass nonsense. I'm sure many of the artists involved are doing this from the heart.....but come on now how can we take it seriously?? like I said Lil Wayne is replacing Bob Dylan...........I will be donating my money elsewhere.

I am sensitive about Charity, it urkes me when people do it just to be all like "Hey look at me I'm singing we are the world" ..yes I'm talking about Kanye, Eminem, Lil Wayne and others that will go unnamed. There should be no room for ego maniacs.

But Paris, Prince, Blanket, Janet, 3T, and Nicole still have my love and support...I will only give this a listen to hear what the babies have to say.

I still love Quincy and Lionel...we all make mistakes.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

BunnyHead, starting to see your point of view!

the hope for haiti concert with george cloony, now that was amazing and heartfelt, did u see that?

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

More importantly than who sings what part is the fact that the people of Haiti need all the help they can get and recreating this great song for charity once more is what really counts. And remembers you stars out there singing.....please leave your ego at the door!

I will support this effort for Haiti, even though I might like the original better.
But hey, maybe this one won't be so bad, let's wait and hear it first, okay ?

It's all for LOVE!
