I agree with you!

I would expect over $2million on Thursday and up to $3.5 million on Friday, which would take the total up to around $67million in the US. Another $3million on Saturday would take it to around $70million by Monday.

A great result that will hopefull get some positive media attention in the US!

Although this is classified as a concert film, I was hoping that it would outperform Farhenheit 9/11 in the US (the highest grossing documentary in the US) but that seems too hopeful right now given the limited run. F9/11 had 15 weekends to achieve $119million in the US.

It doesn't matter though because it will gross more than that film on a global scale (F9/11 had $222million)

Other than a bit more modest expectation for Thursday -I think a million and a half would be closer- I agree in all said..

If the movie did 1 M Monday, there's no way that the movie will gross more than 2 M this Thursday !

Don't expect more than 1 M this Thursday !

My predictions :
Thursday : 1 M
Friday : 2 M
Sat : 2,8 M
Sunday : : 2 M

All boxoffice sources give TII between 7 and 8 mil, so the movie should hit 70 mil at monday for example:

Those predictions have been off when it comes to TII.

My predictions :
Thursday : 1.1 M
Friday : 2.2 M
Sat : 2,5 M
Sunday : 1.8 M

This Is It was $61 million as of Wednesday. Thursdays numbers will increase it to $62.5-63 million. This weekend I am predicting $7 million which would take total numbers by Monday very close to $70 million. Either way, This Is It will beat Hannah Montana's movie 100%. It's not even a debate anymore!

Guys, again you exaggerate.. If it's a huge drop for TII, then what is it for Christmas Carols, -which dropped over 70%?.. When we talk about a night where the top box office movie makes just a million and a half, then it's a very bad night overall, for all movies and theaters, and that's the end of the story. TII is no.4 -with two new entries, which otherwise did less than impressively-, still making just half the gross of the night's no.1.. And more or less the same as it made on Monday -when it was at no.2..
So it's not that bad specifically for TII.. It still has the prospects for a 7 mil weekend, and that's what we got to keep working for!!

I agree...keep in mind that TII was huge Tuesday and wednesday...

thursday figures are not really bad.

This being said, I see a Week End around 6,5 M max

80 Mds Final in the USA could be cool...

Hanna Montana gained $65 million during it's full 15 week release. Also, making $70 million worldwide.

Michael has gained $62 million in just 2 weeks. Also, making $191 million worlwide (with not a full release).

That speaks for itself.

These are numbers I took off of the Box Office website.

I still think it can make 7 mil in the weekend.. All the estimates posted here earlier today were given by sites that more or less knew by that time the performance of last night, and none of them gave TII a weekend estimate below 7mil..

So let's hope for that. A 7+mil weekend and a near 70 US total by Sunday.

Then we talk about prospects for until the movie leaves theaters. It's still too soon. If it keeps steady till Thanksgiving, it can do a very impressive closing in its last weekend..

But first thing is first. Let's go see it and wish best for this weekend, for now..

It was a huge drop for all movies not just This Is It. This week doesn't seem to be a good week for business for cinemas. It's doing well and we should celebrate that it has grossed over $200 million worldwide which is pretty remarkable considering it is a concert rehearsal movie.

The rank is not important. the gross is. can it make 7 mil in the weekend? if so it's very good, and it makes no difference if it makes it while in the top 5 or out of it. don't forget we got new entries coming out constantly.

and the deadline.com site is very non-sympathetic to MJ and TII, we've said that since the first weekend. don't take what it writes for granted

hesiod, forget the 7 M !

If it does 5,5 M, it will be not bad...believe me...TII is at the end of its run.

I wouldn't bet yet that it's at the end of its run.
If the pedro's post is true, then it did a million and a half -a simple 200 thousand away from two new entries-, in a night of three new hits coming out and a clear sweep of 2012 (I wonder why the latter is, but that's a different story..)
A 5 mil weekend might end up being the case this time, but this, in the context described, does not mean the movie is over. Look at how steadily in that range of numbers Paranormal Activity is still performing.. TII has every potential to keep it going equivalently down to thanksgiving, and make a good closing at that weekend.

But promotion has to keep going, as must the word of mouth and fans' support..
I'll prob go again 2morrow night..

Hum, it's not a drop; actually it's almost a 100% rise in relation to Thursday.. And it's less than half a million away from the three movies immediately above it.. And all that, in a weekend where a single movie seems to make like 90% of the whole -I wonder what makes 2012 so attractive anyway..

So it's not that bad. It will be a 5 mil weekend, which is more than decent. Another two weeks to go; with the right push (from sony AND us), TII will get a very good closing..

TII lost 400 screen in North America its now 3,000 screen and also nobody knows that the film is still in the theater :)

Sony did not advertise the fact that the movie has been extended.

Regardless, hopefully it does well today so it can pass 65.3M. That should be the headline on Monday...in order to create additional buzz for the new week.

In most big places most cinema complexes have more than one theater, so in the majority of cases it's easy for people to see it's still there..
And 3000 screen is big alright; Paranormal activity has done well for a number of weeks with alot less than that..

It could be great if final result of TII hit 80 mil US, but now it is not so simply , but not impossible. TII need probably 3-4 week days to get 70 mil (500 - 800 by day). I wonder how TII is doing overseas during this 2012 deep impact weekend - last weekend it was 29mil - result around 10-12 mil sound's good but I'm affraid of huge drop.

when actuals will come monday...they will give TII 5,5 M this WE (-56%from last we).

Considering that TII is ending his run and that it did well wednesday (2Mds)...it's logical.

I would have liked a 7 Mds we so theaters would have kept it.

It's THE KEY for the thanksgiving WE which will be big for Movies in USA.

This being said, expect a 75/80 mds final US BO.

I still hope some Oscar Nominations...
