TII Box Office News (Merged) Grossed $238 Million WORLDWIDE thus far (UPDATE)

Re: TII Box Office News (Merged) Grossed $105 Million thus far (UPDATE)

Yeah, I think 'The Christmas Carol' will be a popular movie because it's a children's movie. But I really doubt it will do that much. However, it is only an IMAX movie with 3D so IMAX tickets are more expensive than regular ticket prices. So that is something to consider.

I just don't know how many people would want to watch a Christmas movie before Thanksgiving! LOL!

It is not an IMAX only movie.

ackson film crosses $100 million internationally

Reuters November 7, 2009, 6:13 am Send

November 6, 2009, 9:58 pmLOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Michael Jackson concert film "This Is It" has crossed the $100 million mark at international box offices as it enters its second weekend in theaters, the studio behind the movie said on Friday.

The film has grossed $144 million worldwide, including $44 million from the United States and Canada.

That is more than double the tally of receipts for 2008's blockbuster concert film "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds," a movie some box office watchers had used as a benchmark for "This Is It."

Outside of North America, the biggest theatrical markets through Thursday night were: Japan with $18.2 million, Britain with $11.1 million and Germany with $8.9 million.

"This Is It," distributed by Sony Corp-owned Columbia Pictures, was produced from footage of Jackson rehearsing for a series of comeback concerts in London in the final weeks before his June 25 death from an overdose of powerful medication.

The movie opened on October 28 and originally was planned to play for just two weeks, but Sony extended the film's run. The film is now slated to run until early December in the United States and Canada.

Re: TII Box Office News (Merged) Grossed $105 Million thus far (UPDATE)

That great 144 million hope it reaches 200 mill by end of the weekend, I wonder how much it made this week in america...

Re: TII Box Office News (Merged) Grossed $105 Million thus far (UPDATE)

I imagine This Is It will pull in another $12-15 million this weekend in the US with an additional $25 million+ from overseas taking the international total to over $40 million. That is great for a second weekend.

Re: TII Box Office News (Merged) Grossed $105 Million thus far (UPDATE)

The new films this week are horrible. MJ will stay strong.

Re: TII Box Office News (Merged) Grossed $105 Million thus far (UPDATE)

The 2 mil+ it did last night is just great. It hasn't fallen below 2 mil at any night in the whole week. I think it will do very well in the weekend. And I hope it keeps steadily over a million for the nights in the week ahead.

It's up to us to keep the hype. I'll be watching it in the weekend for the third time, and will go again sometime next week!!

Re: TII Box Office News (Merged) Grossed $105 Million thus far (UPDATE)

And there were doubters who said Michael's movie wouldn't beat miley's....dude....what the fudge were they smokin'? LOL! First for the simple fact of including his and her name in the same damn sentence and two for even doubting that even here in the states Mike couldn't kick that little pop tart's ass. LOL! He'll be the holder of the biggest grossing concert film EVER Worldwide and here in the states by next weekend...MARK MY WORDS.

Pfft....as if there was any doubt. I know I'm seeing it again today or tomorrow.

My only wish would be for him to be here to see this, physically. Let's make him proud guys. MAKE HIM PROUD!

LONG LIVE THE KING!

This Is It has now brought in an estimated $48 million in the US including Friday's numbers.

You're wrong, don't look at the rank, but at the gross made. The movie did, first night of its second weekend, $4,150,000 mil, which is more or less what we plausibly expected. It's good, don't fool yourselves. At the same time it's fourth, because apparently two other of the new films -further than Christmas Carols which we knew would be first- did better than we imagined.. But this did NOT impact TII high grossing.. It will be over 10 mil at the end of the weekend, -approaching 15 I think; and near 60 overall..VERY good..
As for numbers 2 and 3, what the heck is the movie "THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS" about, and who on earth went to see it..?

I agree with all you said...but um **raises hand** I actually just came back from seeing "The Men Who Stare At Goats"...it's VERY funny and it's a comedy. It's a very witty dry humour comedy based, surprisingly enough on a true story. It takes place in the military and a bunch of crazy crap happens. Two words, "Psychic Spies" LOL.

I am seeing "This Is It" for the fifth time tomorrow first thing.

Honestly guys, don't freak out or worry, Michael is going to continue breaking records and he is going to kick that little pop tarts ass...I refuse to say her name because his and her name do not even belong in the same sentence. As I've said before by the end of next weekend I predict Michael will hold the record for biggest grossing concert/docu. film ever both worldwide and in the states. MARK MY WORDS!

Oops , sorry... I take it that it's a good film; didn't mean to question that.. I just hadn't heared anything about it and wondered what it is..

No it's cool. I doubt very many people, in general aren't too aware of it. It's a good film, aside from seeing Mike you should check it out. If you liked films like "Burn after reading" you'd love this one.

Sorry to get OT.

But like I said, Mike is gonna beat that pop tarts ass in no time.
