THIS IS IT new song 43 seconds

Re: 'NEW' song THIS IS IT is same as this track from 1991... wtf

Why is nobody discussing the other senario....

Its very much possible that the Estate is not permissioning the release of New or Unreleased material to Phony....

It does not make sense to me.... Sony might have a few unreleased songs in their Vault but I dont think they can release them without a gohead from the Estate.

Think abt it if sony were free to release New/unreleased material without the Estate's approval the my guess is they wud have released an whole new Album within days of MJ's death to cash in the sympathy the world over..

you maye have a point
estate have to give his "go ahead" to anything now, books, movie, cds anyhing mj related.
Sony had to get the go ahead from the estate to work on the movie. (even with conditions, the estate must approve the final cut)
Sony had to get the go ahead from the estate for the soundtrack. ( i think the estate has a say of what will appear on the album)

anyway, these things are complicated.

Re: 'NEW' song THIS IS IT is same as this track from 1991... wtf

I posted the following on the 43min snippet thread. But it looks like everyone was so excited listening to the leak that they did not get to read it.......

--------------------------------------

Will say it once again: Mike had stated during the Phony hate speech that he was owing Phony 2 0r 3 tracks for the compilation album, the ultimate collection. After which phony cannot release any New or Unreleased material without his approval.

I have a strong feeling that even though Phony claims 2 have unreleased material frm MJ's Vault, they cannot go ahead & release it without the Estate's permission. Think abt it guys, the original masters off the back catalogue goes back to the estate after 2011 (After which the estate may decide to continue working with Phony or move on... only Branca knows). Which leaves Phony with roughly a little more that 2 years to release MJ material. Why wud they then not release new material with just 2 years left, if they cud.

My feeling is that the Esate is giving Phony very limited content to work with. (n if this is the case, then thats the way I personally want it 2 be- release new material with a new company after 2011).

Hi Mjjfan,

-------------

I can vouch that I heard the speech when Mike had said that he owes then 2 or 3 songs for a boz set. After which Sony cannot release New or unreleased material.

There were reports that Mike was of the view that the masters wud revert to him after Invincible. But he later found out that there was a finer clause in the contract which meant that there was still a long way before the masters wud revert to him. Which means that during this time Sony could release old material any which way they want provided that those are old released material. They cannot release New or un-released material without Mikes consent.

Ofcourse, Mike did choose to do limited work with Phony after Number 1s & Ultimate collection, for the release of unreleased material but with very limited new content... an example of this being the Thriller 25 project. With regards to King of Pop & the essential MJ, I (my personal opinion) think that Sony could have do this without MJ's support or approval.

The last update we received was that the masters wud revert to him in 2011. If this is to be true then its upto Brance & Mclain to choose if they want to continue working with sony by drawing up a new contract with them or they decide to move on..

Again my personal opinion is that Brance wud shop around the New material with all possible labels after 2011. My opinion is based on the fact that he did shop around with the 'This is it film rights' with other companies as well, before Sony won that deal by the virtue of the highest bid.

Now with regards to the 2011 time line, unfortunately I think, only Sony &/or the Estate can confirm this.

Isn't it possible that this song IS actually This Is it, which was written in 1980 or whenever it was, recorded, then in 1991 MJ changed some of the lyrics slightly and the name of the song and gave it to Safire?
I don't think it's a coincidence that this song happens to include the lyric - 'This is it' when there was a song of that name written in 1980.

Yeah of course that's the song. No one said it would be a brand new MJ song, just new to us, we've never heard it. Come on, it's Sony, don't expect them to do us any favours.
Still a great song! Can't wait to hear it in full.

EXACTLY!
ppl just love to find something to complain about god ppl this is the first new song in years
just try to shut up and enjoy it a little bit and stop spoiling it for everyone
jeez!

Just because we haven't heard a new song in a long time doesn't mean that people can't have different opinions about the subject. This is a discussion forum so I guess we are allowed to discuss things.

??? Haven´t you visit this board for months??

The song is from the 80s didn´t you knew that?

I saw that thread, I thought it was an old song but I didn’t know that it was already released by someone called Safire.

I fully agree!

That's not what I meant. Someone said they thought it was a demo from '91. And other people have said that it was just written for Safire in '91. I was just trying to make the point that it was clearly written in 1980 and just wasn't used.

I don't get what the problem is,either... I mean,so what if the song is actually an old song that it's being released now.MJ has always done this...remember What about us? It became Earth song on HIStory.Or Blood on the dancefloor, which was recorded during the Dangerous era, only to be released years later. It's not something abnormal.I'm sure he reworked it and that this is not the very first version of the song. :)

I love it

Who gives a **** when it was recorded

Its new to us and its being released, thats a good thing

Sounds a great song with great lyrics

We should be happy and celebrating!

Amen to that!

I love the song! A lot! I am listening to the 43 seconds of Michael’s version over and over again and comparing it to the other song and there is a huge difference the way Michael is singing it and his voice is amazing.

Now my only concern is that we might get a lot of bad press I’m afraid, I hope not but I have a bad feeling about this. The song is great I hope nothing will try to ruin it for us.

Given how strict and secretive about TII Sony are being, I'm VERY surprised they have streamed this snippet.

I'm not knocking the song in any way, but it sounds like a demo, so I'm surprised they didn't label it as such and put this version on disc 2 with the other demos, and put the 2009 Orchestral version on disc 1, giving them room for Speechless or Who Is It as well. Personally I think bulking out disc 2 and not putting 2 versions of the same song next to one another is a better idea.

I like it, can't wait to hear the complete version.
I don't know why but it sounds a lot like "The Way You Love Me".

That doesn't sound like it was recorded for the Triumph album. At least not the version on the Japanese site. It must be a later re-recording.

I wasn't actually emphasising any point in particular, just agreed with you, so quoted instead of repeating.

Seriously. This happened when T25 came out and there was this huge debate about For All Time which was originally created around Thriller time and later pulled out and worked on during Dangerous sessions. Many were saying it was a Dangerous era song and couldn't imagine that the history of the song actually dated back to the early 80's. Little Susie was the same. Old song that was finished and released over a decade later. *SIGH* If we've never heard it before, then it's NEW, imo, regardless of when it was originally written, created, worked on, etc. And the fact that Safire did a version of the TII won't take away from Michael's version...at least for me. Hearing his voice on the song will make the world of difference.

Anyway, I like what I've heard so far...and since I like the Safire version, I imagine the MJ version will be eons better. Can't wait to hear IT in full and in better quality.

BTW... 43 seconds (4+3=7)...Had to point that out for all the numerology fans. :)

Thanks mkgenie for the song snippet and full lyrics. Made my day. :flowers:

RIP Michael. :(

It does sound like Triumph Mike.

I´ve heard it like 30 times now and I think this will be a huge hit! Amazing vocal performance.

Am I the only person who has never heard of Safire or their version of this song??

EDIT: And I agree that it DOES sound like a more youthful Mike... we may get a surprise with the 2009 re-working though? *Maybe*
