Filmmaker and director Spike Lee is heading up a special documentary on Michael Jackson that looks at the late musician’s illustrious
Bad album. The flick, which just entered post-production, arrives right around the 25th anniversary of
Bad and the renowned world tour that followed it.
The film will feature interviews with everyone from Sheryl Crow to Kanye West to Cee Lo Green, as well as some of the King of Pop’s close friends.
“I’m more than just a huge fan of Michael Jackson, and having the chance to actually know him and work with him, I deeply care about his legacy,” Spike said in an official statement, adding that the stories enabled him to “uncover just what made this such a huge, important coming of age in [Jackson’s] career and unearth compelling stories surrounding the making of the album... the short films and the tour that may have never seen the light of day.”
In addition to the movie, plenty of other
Badcelebrations are planned for this year
. On September 18,
BAD 25 will arrive – a deluxe package offering three CDs, two booklets and a DVD chronicling one of the
Bad tour shows at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 16, 1988. More plans include a
Bad 25 two-disc standard set, packed with the album and a disc of fresh remixes and demos.
