Official MTV Video Awards Thread [Janet Jackson, Trailer, Spoliers Here]

Oh, screw the media. Madonna's speech was amazing. I love her even more than I did before. Bravo Madonna. :clapping:

And Janet did her thing. She still showed that she can still kill it.

I just luved it all Madonna, Janet, & especially This Is It Trailer. I can't wait til' Theatre & DVD!!! :)

Yes. Indeed. Unless you are a homophobic bigot. Watch Michael's ...you were never meant to see. He specifically says he has lots of gay fans and accepts them all. But since you need proof that YOU are a sinner, read on. Oh, and stop throwing stones because your house is made of glass.

  • DEUTERONOMY 22:13-21
If it is discovered that a bride is not a virgin, the Bible demands that she be executed by stoning immediately.
  • DEUTERONOMY 22:22
If a married person has sex with someone else's husband or wife, the Bible commands that both adulterers be stoned to death.
  • MARK 10:1-12
Divorce is strictly forbidden in both Testaments, as is remarriage of anyone who has been divorced.
  • LEVITICUS 18:19
The Bible forbids a married couple from having sexual intercourse during a woman's period. If they disobey, both shall be executed.
  • MARK 12:18-27
If a man dies childless, his widow is ordered by biblical law to have intercourse with each of his brothers in turn until she bears her deceased husband a male heir.
  • DEUTERONOMY 25:11-12
If a man gets into a fight with another man and his wife seeks to rescue her husband by grabbing the enemy's genitals, her hand shall be cut off and no pity shall be shown her.
After Matthew Shepard was killed in 1998, a pastor in North Carolina published an open letter regarding the trial of Aaron McKinney that read: "Gays are under the death penalty. His blood is guilty before God (Lev. 20:13). If a person kills a gay, the gay's blood is upon the gay and not upon the hands of the person doing the killing. The acts of gays are so abominable to God. His Word is there and we can't change it."
Most of the people I know who say "the Bible condemns homosexuality" would never condone these acts. Most Christians have no idea that the people killing gay and lesbian persons go around quoting those few verses of Scripture as justification.

Although the prophets, Jesus, and other biblical authors say nothing about homosexual orientation as we understand it today, they are clear about one thing: As we search for truth, we are to "love one another."
We may not be able to use the Bible as our final authority on sexual orientation. But as we search for the truth, we can and should use the Bible as our final authority on how we should treat one another along the way.

A young Jewish scholar asked Jesus, "What is the greatest commandment?" Quoting the prophets, Jesus replied, "The great commandment is this... to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and the second command is like it, to love your neighbor as you love yourself."

"This is my commandment," Jesus said, "that you love one another, as I have loved you." On this the Bible is explicitly clear. Even if we disagree about what the Bible seems to say about homosexuality, we can agree that above all else we are commanded by the Scriptures to love God and to love one another.

John 3:16-18 "16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

Say what you want, but it says ALL who believe will not perish but have eternal life. ALL means everyone who believes. There's just no getting around that one. These verses do not put any conditions on who can be a believer. Christ does not condemn... there it is in black and white. You may want to admonish the person who you think is "different", but Christ does not. ALL who believe are not condemned. If a homosexual believes in Christ, they are not condemned. You may say a homosexual cannot believe, but then you are putting limits on who can and who cannot believe, when God does not. Since a homosexual who believes in Christ is NOT condemned, who are you to condemn them? We are all your brothers and sisters in Christ.

I'll say it once and I'll keep on The Bible is the most violent book I've ever read i mean seriously? talk about forcing fear on people

No surprise here. Media got a huge dose of truth from Madonna last night and they are not gonna own up to what they did to MJ. So whats the best way for them to try to save face?
Bash Madonna.

Don't let them make you angry. Keep the memory/legacy of MJ alive. *hugs you*

I'm afraid it wasn't just the media Madonna was referring to when she said 'lynch mob'. It was all the people in the world who made fun of Michael, made jokes about him, jumped on the witch hunt wagon in a split second (and never bothered to see evidence of what they were accusing him of), and particularly all the people that stopped supporting and loving Michael because they no longer thought it was the cool thing to do.

Unfortunately - and we all have to realise this - Madonna was also talking about us fans, who so wanted Michael to have that comeback, to give us more, more, more. We weren't satisfied with what he'd given us, so we pressured him into giving us more - even though he'd probably have preferred to spend the rest of his life quietly with his children.

But Michael was a creature that we - much like an addiction - couldn't get enough of. We have to face the fact that we played our part in enabling the press' hunt for Michael Jackson... so we could see, say, the pictures and get our fix of instant satisfaction. And in enabling this hunt, we also contributed to the other side of things: the negative side. Because every time they got a glimpse of Michael, for every person that said 'wow', two people probably pointed their fingers and made a joke.

I would have to say that this was obviously Janet's most emotional performance of her life. She looked absolutely FIERCE, and showed the whole world just how much she loved her brother and what he meant to her. That's right, girl... you show them folks who's BOSS!! :D

There was simply everything in that face, anger, grief, sadnes, dissapointment, etc.
I don't believe for a second this was simply her 'perform' and thus 'angry' face, no way.

The media are trashing Madonna- saying it was all about her.

The View hosts made fun of Madonna and said it was "all about me" and so did Kathy Lee on the Today Show.

I am so disgusted right now! UGH! Makes me wanna scream!!!!!!!!!!

... And you're suprised at that? I knew it was too good to be true. No Madonna-Bashing last night at all--but now payday's a coming. They're not making their money off of Michael anymore. At least not as much.

:agree::agree::agree::agree:

She expressed in one look what we all carry in our hearts.

Anger, rage, sorrow, hurt, mourning, grief, loss.... you name it.

Beautiful, just like her brother.

There was simply everything in that face, anger, grief, sadnes, dissapointment, etc.
I don't believe for a second this was simply her 'perform' and thus 'angry' face, no way.

It doesn’t surprise me that the media is trashing Madonna but its disappointing to hear that they are. As always the media is dissecting and spinning her speech into something negative and sorted. Madonna made a comparison with Michael not because it was about her but just to make a point. They have similarities like same birth month/year, they grew up in the mid-west etc, she was just saying she was allowed to make mistakes growing up and have a childhood which is perhaps why she could cope better with the lynch mob (like she called them) unlike Michael. He was so naive and innocent and was a magnet for idiots who took advantage of him. The stupidity of the media and Kathy Lee gets me so mad god that woman gets under my skin. I thought Madonna was amazing and her speech was simply beautiful. She gave Michael the person some dignity and respect and yes the truth hurts “the public contributed to Michael's demise“. so KUDOS to Madonna for pointing that out.

Who gives a crap what the media is saying. What Madonna said was incredibly heartfelt, her words have stayed with me all day. And they were the truth.

Lots of respect and love for her for doing that.

I am not a Madonna fan but after what she said last night "we deserted him" it has what has been said on these and other boards for years and she said it. Props to her!

And Janets performance amazing! - the tribute as a whole had me in tears

History tour backup dancer brought back for tribute.

Some of you may have recognized dancer Chris Judd from the MTV VMA tribute performance on Sunday. He was the lead backup dancer for The History tour.

Re: History tour backup dancer brought back for tribute.

yeah i did. nice that they did the tribute

The show was not dedicated to Michael, i don't believe it. The host said it..but it was probably misunderstood by him. The tribute was right at the start and that was that. Hardly any other artists mentioned him after that.
Which was kind of downer in my book.

I also have to say there was something off about a performance...Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. It was nice...but when Alicia stepped away from the piano , you could still hear the piano sounds.......come on now. They just playing a cd then and only Jay-Z really rapping?

Yeah that russel brand confused me saying it was a Michael Jackoson tribute yet not even ONE SINGLE artist mention him, as for that Jay Z and alicia, how the heck that piano as still playing:bugeyed when she was far from it

. I Think Beyonce was the biggest person that night and she took the spotlight off herself and put it BACK on Taylor where it should have been in the first place for her award.

Sorry to me the biggest person there was JANET, what hapenned to her is much more painful than someone ruining a speech, Janet's brother Michael DIED, thast much painful than the speechy thing, too much hype about that taylor swift and kanye and beyonce acting klike if kanye would have killed taylor swift, but anyway

I am also nervous as to how everyone will feel, including myself...after the movie is over. It will be so final then..... I just don't know how everyone will cope.

Me neither

I know most of you want to know how I felt about last nights Tribute... The show itself was a self indulgent mess. Michael pretty much "made" MTV. Then they crucified him: then only after he was dead, did they try and resurrect him. The ...only thing I understood was the look on Janet's face when she was finished performing. Where was everyones heart when they were ripping out his???

(What she wrote on FB)

SHE couldnt have said it better

Joe, Go To Bed

joejacksonhookervmas1.jpg

Blanket Jackson probably woke up this morning to find his piggy bank shattered to pieces and all his coins gone, because Joe Jackson needed the money to rent a date for the VMAs. Oh, Joe. No amount of bottom-shelf vagina bought off of Craigslist is going to make you look attractive.
IN THIS ECONOMY, I realize that a call girl can't turn down a check, but JOE JACKSON?! It's really hard out there for whore! You would have to be on some major shit to get through an old special needs iguana humping and slobbering all over you. You know Joe even plugs his stupid production company while he plugs the puss. Ugh.

http://www.dlisted.com/node/33875

i guess this is why Janet didnt stay at the show after the tribute, and of course she doesnt seem to like the VMAs that much

Oh and Joe Jackson had this to say about Kanye (from TMZ):

Joe Jackson Wants to 'Blackball' Kanye

Posted Sep 14th 2009 12:10PM by TMZ Staff

Joe Jackson
quickly traded Kanye West's community bottle of Hennessy for a jug of K.W. Haterade -- saying the egomaniacal crusher of dreams should be blackballed from show business.

Here's Joe's anti-Kanye statement in full:

"I don't know what he was doing, he jumped up on stage and snatched that microphone out of that poor girl's hand. They should blackball him out of show business for that. He just leapt up there, that was bad.

I had just gotten through speaking to him, he was introducing me to his girlfriend, and then three minutes later he jumped up on stage. And people booed Kanye all night."

stop victimizing taylor swift, why nobody did that when Michael DIED DESAPEARED; DEATH; GONE; NEVER BACK AGAIN

I just watched some of the performances again, during Jay-z's performance he had a little tribute, he said "long live the king" and in the background the Apollo sign was in the background saying "in memory of Michael Jackson a true American legend"

yeha the biggest star Jay Z showed it like what 2 seconds WOW IMPRESSIVE!!!!, more like joke to me

No surprise here. Media got a huge dose of truth from Madonna last night and they are not gonna own up to what they did to MJ. So whats the best way for them to try to save face?
Bash Madonna.

Media is the mother of all what happened to Michael media kill Michael even more than Murray

Re: History tour backup dancer brought back for tribute.

I don't think he was 'brought back' just because he was a dancer on the HIStory tour. He was brought back because he was good, most likely. What I was more excited about was Tina Landon being back :)

Re: History tour backup dancer brought back for tribute.

Which one? Pic please? I don't know his dancers well because I only look at MJ

Re: History tour backup dancer brought back for tribute.

Me too when Michael is on stage I only look at him and no one else except if he interacts with them. LOL!

wow, I just seen the performance by Janet and Madonna's speech. Madonna set me off crying again. She spoke so much truth.

Hehe with that said, SYTYCD has world class choreographers.
Absolutely top of the line - It isn't like "Little Bobo's Dance Class"

People that don't watch SYTYCD when they are in the final stages are really missing out on some magic.

Agreed! It's the best programme on the planet, I watch each country's version.

R.Brand, don't like him been in charge of a tribute to MJ with the crap he is coming out with. I just find it disgusting for this type of show.

Just had to post the Tribute here again! Don't know how many times I've watched and/or listened to it so far.

I do feel sorry for the dancer who couldn't get "The Lean" right. At least he didn't fall flat on his face, though. :p

Is it me or Michael seem completely forgotten by the news, who are all about poor Taylor Swift, she so young and helpless(media are making it look like if she was shot to death, then they distinguish Beyonce as some Mother Theresa for letting Taylor have her own moment sacrificing(yes what a sacrifice)her own speech, like if beyonce will not going to win anymore vmas never again, i mean as far as i know shes bettter than Michael if reading the back message media is making, and Kanye, he just tried to put beyonce on a pedestal for defending her and well he defenetly did that, Madonna forgotten, Janet forgotten, Michael, who was he

I just have to say this, not to offend anyone but just to recognize that it is happening....

I am amazed at how many people here are aggravated by the FEW media outlets that are 'bashing' Madonna's speech.....I heard WAY more bashing of Madonna on this very forum yesterday prior to her speech. At least the 'media' waited until after her speech aired.

Everyone on this forum is continually saying: "I hate the media, don't listen to the media, can't trust the media". Then, almost every thread is referencing something that was read in that very media, and it goes on and on and on................? again, if the media is so terrible, why on earth is everyone so concerned, so caught up in it, so quick to turn to them for their information? why is everyone basing their opinions on the very 'thing' that is 'supposed to be' not garnering any attention from us? You want to read or view "the sun" or "the mirror" or "perez hilton" or "ET" or "Access Hollywood" or "the view" then go ahead, but um....make up your minds, cause we can't have it both ways, IMO.

I would much rather prefer to discuss Madonna's speech as I SAW IT, not as others did. and, it brought a tear to my eye, and I think everyone in that audience at Radio City had a real moment of reciprocity with Madonna, they felt what she was saying and they took that moment to really feel the heaviness of her words......something very rare on TV.

Well said about media.I feel Kanye ruined the show for everyone though and took away the show from Michael's memory. That was as bad as Jarvis jumping up on stage on Michael.

what negative thing did mtv say about Madonna? not that that isn't usually the case when someone gets gutsy and says something nice about MJ, publicly, and truthful about the treatment of MJ. until now, mtv never said anything negative about Madonna. she was their crown jewel.

^ They can say anything negative about Madonna's speech. Anything they want.
x

I just wanna say that my respect has grown sooo much for Madonna. That speech she gave NEEDED to be heard loud and clear. I want to thank that woman! I have been trying to tell people for years that Michael Jackson was more than just an entertainer, he was a human being.. and a lovely one at that!

I'm still watching it here in the UK.. so I'll just have to wait to see what happens next!

Janet did a great job, and she has so much on her mind, God bless her and the family.

 I miss Michael....

Here here! I also posted something similar to this when people were talking about where Michael would be buried awhile back. Sometimes I felt like I was the only fan who thought this since almost everyone is a tabloid / media follower. I'm so thankful I don't have cable :)

As for Madonna, I have nothing bad to say about her, before or after. I used to dance around to her when I was 6, same as I danced around to Michael. I never paid attention to all the bad stuff being said, so I really had no idea people disliked her so much. When she said "I had a childhood, and I was allowed to make mistakes and find my own way in the world without the glare of the spotlight," my heart broke. SO many people make fun of and don't understand the childhood part of Michael's life. I think Madonna really made it a bit easier to understand for those who continued to pass judgement.
