Official Charts Thread For ''Michael''

The album came out on the 14th. It should be on the charts for the week ending December 25th. Even Billboard was advertising weather MJ would beat out Boyle and Taylor Swift.

Yep but one day is not enough to enter the charts.

I'm just going by past history and what Billboard said. The way they worded it, Michael should have been on the charts this week. When Invincible was released, it was on the charts that next week....as the same can be said for HIStory.

Something is seriously messed up

Current Billboard charts contain sales between 8 and 14 december - so how MJ could enter the charts??????
Next wednesday You will see charts for 14-21 december with MJ on the charts.....but no number one probably ....

I think there's nothing messed up there. Because all the sales will be counted. I think the albums are released mostly Tuesdays but from Tuesday to Friday sales are counted like they are 'pre-sales'? That means the first week is actually a bit more than later weeks? Probably that's because the album isn't on its release date all around yet? Am I right or then what sales are included on those charts starting next Saturday?

On Canadian I-tunes, MICHAEL is at #4 , HMH is at #14, Monster is #175

On Amazon, MICHAEL is at #5

Despite heavy advertising on UK Amazon, MICHAEL fails to make the Top 20, coming in at #21

Also, the final Canadian chart numbers are out on Wednesday.

I really hope the sales pick up, this album needs to do well! This is probably the best collection of music I've heard in a long time, and miles better than most music today.

I can't believe that in the US that little Jackie Evancho, a 10-year old soprano, is beating out Michael. It does seem that the power of TV shows is a major power on the charts these days. She was on some US talent show that I don't watch. Glee's right up there, too. These Christmas-y albums do seem to be the thing this year.
On Amazon usa, "Michael" is #2 in pop and #1 R&B, and #5 overall.

Jackie who?

I loved the 2-hour document NRJ Finland did about Michael this weekend. Finally someone who said things how they really were. I read the dj is a fan himself so maybe that's the reason :)

We have to take it easy. It looks like Michael will debute top 3-5 in almost every country in the world. And so far we are only talking first week sales. Michael will also sell over time. In february - when the album has been out for two month - we will have an idea about the albums level of success. Remember also that the competetion is very hard at christmas time (especially with all this x-factor etc).

^ #10 is pathetic! Australia loves MJ what is going on there?

The boycotting fans are strong in Australia.

Nonetheless "Michael" will be a chart success. It might not claim as many Nr. 1 spots as it could have without the boycotting fans, but that doesn't matter in the end if you look at the worldwide sales.

The holiday music rush is one of many reason why they should have pushed the album back until at least February 2011. It might have had the chance to do well if they had. Despite it's current success in some countries, I think they dropped the ball so much with this release with the fan backlash, the lack of promo in some places, and although I like "Hold My Hand", they could have come out with a stronger first single, like "Behind the Mask" or "Hollywood Tonight". It's only been out a little over a week total and to me, it feels like it's run it's course already. This is not good. I seriously hope sales and promo pick up and that there's a way of cleaning up at least some of the sales mess. I'm holding on to hope here.

Now i understand why chart wise THIS IS IT the album and the dvd have not been as much as successful as the rest of the World, there

It's not just the boycotters that are damaging sales though. I was reading iTunes reviews of it earlier and a lot of people won't buy it as they see it as blatant cashing in and profiteering. I saw way more of those comments than I did fake vocals comments.

wtf not happy!!!!! Hold is at 10 though!
All of the others are on tour etc so maybe this is why?

Sad but true... Hold My Hand #10 in UK

I think with the lack of promotion, no one knows it is out.I know in the pub last night my friends didn't know a new mj album was even out. With that & bad weather hampering peoples shopping in the uk, the album hasn't had much of a chance so far.

Do you maybe know how many copies has been sold? Is it possible that the album will go up next week (maybe even #1)?
