Official Charts Thread For ''Michael''

113,000 is a decent enough number in the UK. If this was released in any other month it would have been #1.

Not so bad at all, indeed the timing was bad, too much pressure to the estate to release it this year maybe? looks like next year would have been a better idea after all

... some people were pissed off of my worries that Michael wouldnt be no.1... and that I was afraid of this worldwide flop....

If this happens after 1 and a half year after MJs passing, what can we expect in 10-15-20 years?

IMO, now its not about the fans but about history, people in tens of years will read... what?
Charts are now more important than ever before, especially for Michael, its not an estimation, but the real pieces of albums/records.
He was the chart breaker, but in this modern era of the Internet (and online encyclopedias), such results are against Michael.

113k is a great, great figure let's not forget that. But being released the week it did it was always going to struggle. Rhianna performed twice on the country's most watched show and Take That performed on the country's second most watched show on the Saturday and the country's most watched show on a Sunday. If the album had been released last next it would have been number one.

10 years, 20 years, 50 years down the road, people will remember Michael Jackson for everything he gave us in his life from I Want You Back to Invincible.

People overestimate the significance of this album. This is a posthumous album being put together by Sony and the Estate. I have to agree with Quincy Jones that this is a Michael Jackson album, but not really a Michael Jackson album.

Sorry, but the nature of this album is indeed glorified leaks. Instead of illegal downloads, now the songs come with a nice booklet.

Why compare a posthumous album to Take That's reunion album? Come on. A posthumous album is never a hot thing to own. The fact that this album sold over 100,000 in UK is a big statement. Given the situation (the artist is not alive, no hit single, lackluster promotion), who else can sell 100,000 copy in the UK? Only Michael Jackson can do it. Who else's incomplete songs can sell millions worldwide? Only Michael Jackson can do it.

I see some people are really enjoying that the album hasn't done well, it doesn't surprise me considering the bullshyte they were writing barely 2 months before Michael died, on other forums.(of which I still happen to have the screenshots) -_-

I love Robbie, but dauym, not so much the band. Guess it's an UK thing

its the other way round i hate robbie...his american breakthrough album attempt flopped and decided to go back to take that when they was doing well again!

Its a shame its no 4....but at least its in top 10!

So it's now in top 10 in ten countries already. After under a week after the physical release. Pretty good! :)

I think that the album will be number one in Canada, but I don't know about Japan.. because the album has not been released on Japan itunes yet and the official release date was 15.12. Do you know how is album performing there (not official charts)..

The "Michael" album, like Michael Jackson's other masterpieces of music, will sell forever.
To paraphrase a certain Angel:
"Michael Jackson's music is forever...."

Is it because of the christmas it will be Thursday in Japan? Because wouldn't the chart week normally end Friday there?

Yeah. I like you. It's also that lies run sprints but the truth runs marathons. And Michael's album is not a lie, so it's the truth. You know, they say the truth is out there, on Michael Jackson's album.

Well said. :agree:

^ Japan results aren't normally released publicly until Friday but the numbers are finished on Thursday, so something will leak to the public on Thursday night regarding the sales.
