Official Charts Thread For ''Michael''

Well, isn't it obvious he will be X-mas #1 then? Because of all the pre-orders and digital sales?

Dear, I have no idea. Estimates are not putting him at number 1. So I guess we'll have to wait to see.

In the place I work, we have the new album playing (and that is all that will be playing) from 11pm today until 4am on Sunday and again from 12pm on Sunday to 6pm. :D

During today's rush-hour, I put Monster and Hollywood Tonight on repeat. :D

When will we know charts for Germany? I think MICHAEL will be number one there..

We have to wait till next week.
Chartweek :
10.12. - 16.12.
Official announcement by Media Control: 24.12.

But there ist NO chance that Michael is NOT no. 1 !

It looks like his chart success will be huge? Am I right these are some chartings so far and they are based on 2-5 selling days only?! In some countries that means almost only digital sales, doesn't it? Is there more chartings so far?

Italy NUMBER ONE
Denmark #4
Belgium #4
France #5
Spain #7
Ireland #18
Finland #22

Excellent way to promote the album! Nice! But play all the songs, not just those 2.. I think people will like Behind The Mask and Much Too Soon.. and Another Day!

i feel that the US media are a lot harder on Michael and that if it DOES hit the number 1 slot in U.S then that's all that really matters for me because they wont be quick to labell it a flop.

I still believe in US number one but I think that in UK will be number 2 or 3..

Yeah, I believe in US #1, too. I think people buy it as a christmas gift during weekend. Michael is more sexy than Susan Boyle?

We were (and are) playing the entire album the whole day but Monster and Hollywood Tonight were on at today's lunchtime rush hour. :D

Can't wait to hear the full sales of Michael's first week on charts!

Does it seem odd that we decided to play Michael all weekend?

Because maybe if more people did that, we wouldn't be in this "omg it's gonna fail" mess.

they are? well I don't think 200,000 is bad at all considering the current music scene. Folks who are alive can't even sell albums. Look at Katie Perry, Rihanna, even the very talented Christina Aguilera. Their cd sells were terrible even though Rihanna and Katie are ruling the airwaves. Sony should've waited for this cd instead of rushing it out by Christmas or at least found a good first danceable single to release first. Hold My Hand is bland and it was bland when it leaked in 2008
I know girl, but u know with Michael they don't care. They were just waiting for such a thing, to call Michael a flop again. I have to agree Hold My Hand is indeed bland, although I like it, it's not a song to release as a first single especially not when the singer himself is not here to promote it anymore, Michael might have made HMH work, but without him, there is no chance.
About Rihanna and Katie Perry ruling the airwaves, this is true they certainly are, I don't even think Michael is being played often.. I don't listen radio myself so I'm not quiet sure how often he is being played, but I doubt it's often, I think the promotion sucked too, I mean given, there was this big fat Harpo interview but still, I believe general people don't even know there is a new album with unreleased tracks out, also all this nonsense about fake tracks coming from the jealous Jacksons didn't help this album whatsoever. As a matter of fact they sabotaged by doing so.

No I don't think it's odd, it's awesome! Absolutely more stores should do that because how otherwise the general people will hear other tracks than Hold My Hand?

I'm wondering if any music stores are playing it...

Hmm..

ok, but why..? this used to be THE country of mj-frenzy.. what happened now??

I think they still have the biggest fanbase (relatively) but I don't know... Heavy competition? Little promotion? Many fans boycotting? Maybe the English fans here know.

So, the album charted #1 in Italy, Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden so far right? Anywhere else?

Sweden, Italy, Netherlands but not Denmark according to Hess.

Michael has sold VERY poorly in Denmark - less than 5000 copies.

Michael enters at #3 on the official Danish chart.

I had thought that much more than 500 pre-ordered the album i DK. :(

When will we get the charts from France, Spain, Australia etc?

My friend who has access to Michael's page on US iTunes showed it to me today and I was so upset. People are leaving really discouraging reviews and the most "liked" review is a negative one. :( No wonder general public read them and decide not to buy :( :( :(

We don't know charts for Australia yet.. I hope for better results next week in Spain and France..

I just checked, I thinkk it may be getting better. MJ's album there has 41/2 starts out of 5.

But currently MICHAEL is only number one in Luxembourg.. It is dropping in most countries.

Oh I agree his position is dropping. I was saying it might be getting better in terms of reviews. Since she said the most popular one was negative. And, this is no longer the case. :)
