New song Oct. 12th + 'This is it' Album out on Oct. 26th. Pre-order at Amazon.com

I bet you iTunes is gonna make the single "Album Only" so that you'll have to buy the entire album just to get the one damn song.

If its really so than I will not buy anything at all. Most of my MJ friends won´t buy the album either. The chance that this album will sell huge is not so good anymore when even hardcore fans will not buy the album. Good so!! Sony must learn a lesson!

Tha would be quite stupid of Sony. I'm not going to buy the whole album just for one song, but I would buy a single if there was one. If they try to force me to buy the whole album I'll just listen to the song some other way. It would be their loss.

I think there is very little new work of Michael. He was working on some music, but he never said he was working on a new album. He was just playing with sounds, not really recording anything. Fans need to accept that. It was the fans who made themselves believe Michael was working on a new album, Michael never said it himself.

What about the interview with a classical musician who said he had been working on an instrumental album with MJ? Or the report that said MJ had been working on 3 albums (one pop album, one instrumental album and the third type I can't remember)?

 I said it before in this thread: People will get what they want another way.

Thanks for the UK link, Horakhty, but WOW is that pricey... the booklet and packaging is going to have to be VERY special to demand that price, especially when chock-full 2CD "The Essential" is £4 cheap at it's most expensive, and most new albums these days are under £10.

Yeah it is kinda pricey. I know it's a double CD but £16 is a lot! I hope there are good enough unreleased things to warrant that price.

I'm confused.

I thought it was being released as a single on Oct 12th???

I don't know if it is, but some people are saying that it'll only be released to radio play on October 12th and that there won't be a single.

I was also under the impression that Oct 12th was simply the radio premiere date - the press release certainly didn't "big up" a physical CD/vinyl single release - but it's there on HMV.... who have also massively undercut Amazon on the album price - must be a first!! lol

I'll decide whether or not I'm going to buy it based on disc 2. They could've made this whole soundtrack/album or whatever they're calling it very special, but at this point, it looks like they fucked it up.

If disc 2 has some good stuff I don't already have, I'll probably buy it. If not, the single will get DLed or bought if physical product is available.

The only CDs I have with previously released material is "The Ultimate Collection" (Christmas gift) and HIStory (I was 8. My mom bought it for me). I have all the hits, I can make my own damn CD.

UNRELEASED MICHAEL JACKSON SONG "THIS IS IT" TO BE UNVEILED OCTOBER 12TH

SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT TO RELEASE TWO DISC ALBUM WITH MUSIC INSPIRED BY THE SONY PICTURES FILM MICHAEL JACKSON"S THIS IS IT ON OCTOBER 26TH/27TH

On October 12th, the first new Michael Jackson song to emerge since the world mourned the loss of this musical icon will be released – a brand new single entitled "This Is It." Soon after, Sony Music Entertainment's Columbia/Epic Label Group will release the two-disc album This Is It featuring the music that inspired Sony Pictures' forthcoming film MICHAEL JACKSON'S THIS IS IT. This two-disc album will be available internationally on October 26th and North America on October 27th to coincide with the worldwide release of the motion picture which arrives in theaters on October 28th and runs for a limited two-week engagement.

"This song only defines, once again, what the world already knows - that Michael is one of God's greatest gifts," comments John McClain, co-producer of the album.

Disc one will feature the original album masters of some of Michael's biggest hits arranged in the same sequence as they appear in the film. The disc ends with two versions of the never-released "This Is It." This song is featured in the film's closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Michael's brothers, the Jacksons.

Disc two offers previously unreleased versions of some of the artist's classic tracks. This disc also features a touching spoken word poem from Michael Jackson entitled "Planet Earth" that has never been heard before.

The two-disc This is It is a stand-alone companion to the motion picture and includes a 36-page, commemorative booklet featuring exclusive photos of Michael from his last rehearsal.

The motion picture MICHAEL JACKSON'S THIS IS IT will offer Jackson fans and music lovers worldwide a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the performer as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold-out concerts that would have taken place beginning this summer in London's O2 Arena. Chronicling the months from April through June, 2009, the film is produced with the full support of the Estate of Michael Jackson and drawn from more than one hundred hours of behind-the-scenes footage, featuring Jackson rehearsing a number of his songs for the show. Audiences will be given a chance to discover the man they never knew through this privileged and private look at Jackson. In raw and candid detail, MICHAEL JACKSON'S THIS IS IT captures the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, creative genius and great artist at work as he creates and perfects his final show.

Kenny Ortega, who was both Michael Jackson's creative partner and the director of the stage show is also directing the film, which is being produced by Randy Phillips, Kenny Ortega and Paul Gongaware. Executive producers are John Branca and John McClain. The film will be distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Releasing.

Tickets for the limited two-week engagement of the film go on sale beginning September 27. For more information about the motion picture, please visit the website www.thisisit-movie.com.

thanks nova for the links. no way i'm paying amazon fifteen pounds something :p i'm still not sure about this 'album' though. i didn't buy the essential album or number ones, i just feel ripped off so i hope the 2nd cd on this is it has something new-ish.

^ its 11.99 everywhere now, hvm and amazon
i pre-ordered mine at amazon, im well excited, i know its not a new studio album, but why isnt anyone rele buzzed about this?!

I'm very excited about it. Not as excited as I would be if this was a brand new album, but I will be picking it up for sure. I want to have it as a part of my MJ collection and I want to help MJ's sales. It's not like it's 100% old stuff, there will be the new song, plus the extra version of the new song, the planet earth poem, unseen pictures, a new booklet, and unheard versions of songs. So there is SOME incentive to buy it for me at least.

Why Fuck Sony? Dont you mean, Fuck Sony, Mj's Estate and Family???

Lol, you have no idea what you are talking about. Mj's family does have nothing to do with the release of album. The Sony is the one who will choose the songs that we already have.
