NEW SONG - Akon feat. Michael Jackson "Hold my hand" [updates in post #1]

Re: Hold My Hand Playlisted on Choice FM

they probably have got a download of the song. they will be paying for it just like they pay when any song is played on a station. until the record label tell them to stop playing it or get an injuction at court then theres nothing to really stop the station from playing it. and at the end of the day its giving the song and the artist promo and most times these leaks are intentional and from the label anyway. i just asked my bro about this as hes a producer at a radio station and he basically said the above

Re: Hold My Hand Playlisted on Choice FM

Correct serendipity. Mediabase in the states has also added the song. When the song was leaked, it got some airplay and these sites record the number of times the song is being played.

My understanding is that the record company announces the radio add date and then it officially is counted. As with all things in the record bizness, companies can decide to release a single ... or not. It depends on a number of factors.

When the song is officially announced for air play, we will start all of the chart threads.

For now, I'm going to merge this thread into the HRH thread.

Choice FM is gonna play it before 7:00 pm! so I guess they have the right to do it!

unless they basically have a court order filed against them to stop them playing it they can pretty much play what they want.

Do you think that's a "universal" type of thing? I mean, do you think that "may" also apply in the United States and other places? Or is it just something afforded to the U.K. radio stations?

tbh i couldnt say. i guess most laws in different coutries are the same to some extent. but it may be different in the usa. say it might be illegal to play a song unless its offically given to a station via a promo from the label or it could be pretty much the same as the UK where you can prettym uch play what u want until the label goes after you.

Thanks to you and your brother for all of the above information. I appreciate it.

Mike got me asking questions about stuff I normally would not be interested in. LOL!

Thanks to you and your brother for all of the above information
he has his uses when it comes to getting info and freebies such as thriller 25/promos lol

Something tells me that this song was planned to be released in the fall. And my reasoning is really stupid but if you listen to the one lyric sung by Akon it states "The nights are getting darker"...and that would compliment the autumn's longer nights and shorter days...

I would say more so in the U.S., because the artists and the companies they contract with are right here in the states. Peeps aren't trying to get sued over here.

Ugh, I hope this turn into a giant cluster**** with some radio stations in some countries getting it at one time and other stations in other countries getting them at others. Now that it has leaked, there should be a concerted effort to hit all the radio stations at once, at least within particular countries. If it isn't done correctly it will negatively affect the charting of the song.

Hmmm, I just joined the ChoiceFM site and once registered I was able to listen to HMH. It was not the full song, but about the 1st third of it, and you can vote for the song as well and leave comments.

The site appears pretty professional, so I'm wondering if they indeed have been authorized to play this song or if they're taking their chances.

I think they have to be taking their chances. Sony has been pretty aggressive with shutting down the U Tube leaks...

Not only are they playing it...they have it displayed right on their webpage:

LOL! I like the way that got that joint, front and center.

I also notice that they are calling it the "POTENTIAL" first single off of Akon's new album. The samething that some of us are saying.

Dang, you guys are going all out with discussion. Imma just sit back and read what you all say lol.

Oh, and great choice of the pic too!

But I say, if they are asking for feedback, UKers, tell um that you LOVE IT!

Hope I didn't do something wrong, but I left a comment and I'm from US, not UK. All it takes is to do simple membership registration, ie: name, address, email, username; it's instantaneous.

Hope Michael or Akon don't come gunning for me if it's not supposed to be out there yet.

OoOo so ChoiceFM is playing it now, ay? :shifty:

That's coool.. :wild: but something tells me that Akon and MJ are getting royalties too if they are playing it. They can't be playing it regularly now (it's on their playlist) if it's an illegal leak or whatever. I guess it is going to be out soon... yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. :D

I hope lol jeesh.

Gosh this thread is loooong!

Forgive me if this has already been asked but I didn't feel like reading all 140 and some pages with posts! :cheeky:

Anyway does anyone know when Akon's album Acquitted will be released? That's the album the song should be on right? I have tried to check out Konvict Muzic's homepage but it doesn't say anything and Akon's MySpace didn't provide any information either... You can hear Wanna Be Startin Somethin 2008 there though - kinda cool, no? :)

It's confusing. I remember radio stations in the past also featured and played "No Friend of Mine" despite it never having an authorized release, and some even played "Let Me Let Go" by Malachi while claiming that it as new MJ. But yeah, Hold My Hand has been played on stations across the states and internationally, and Choice FM is very bold about promoting it.

So "No Friend Of Mine" haven't been released either? It was only on Tempamental's MySpace?? Cuz I would like to have that single as well or the album that it's released on... if such exist?

so do u have to be signed up to vote cause i only see the results but no where to actually vote

If you're talking about ChoiceFM, under Akon pic is "Rate It" and "Hate It". You click on the "rate it" and it automatically enters the vote and then gives the results. But I did this after I registered, so I don't know if you don't have the option to vote if you're not registered or what shows up on the screen option wise.
