NEW SONG - Akon feat. Michael Jackson "Hold my hand" [updates in post #1]

I like to express my opinion here, and sometimes it gets heated. But with arguments back and forth, that's what a discussion board is for.

But those arguments are missing in this case with some of the posters. Just walking in the thread, shouting that the song s**** just because, or because it's from Akon... and then walk out of the thread without coming with arguments, well... what's the purpose of that? That's launching soundbites for effect, not an opening to debate.

Oh, and I love the song. And not because it's finally something new with Michael on it. Maybe it's hard to grasp for those who hate it, but I love the simpleness of the song, the melody, the laid-back but still happy vibe, the harmonies, the 'jussssss', the ad-libs. And I'm enjoying listening to it. And again, and again, oh... and again... :)

where can I find the official music video for this song?? I haven't seen it on tv yet and some one told me he saw it on tv...?

Well I am not jumping on you, I am just giving a point of view just like you. YOur poste seem to give the impression of QUESTIONING those who like it. That was the reason I responsed to your post, other than that, I would have not responsed. if you or anyones does not like the song, then do not like it BUT do not come out the the comment some of you all are liking the song because Michael has not been out in ages. I like the song because I JUST LIKE IT.

Umm your response was to this GAV001 user and maybe I shouldnt have quoted you but I just meant that Ive seen people jump on one another for having different opinionas. Omgosh I have never said I dont like the song I do
You are correct. That was not your comment. That was Gavin.

Also you are right about what you stated. We should be able to agree without taking offense to someone else's opposite opinion.
Like Mello said here, I'm just trying to say people get to offended by others opinions sometimes and we shouldnt. Why should someone posting a negative comment about the song spoil it for other who enjoy. People critized whatsupwitu yesterday I still like it.
Damn...

Where have you been? ha ha ;)
No, there's no official video for the song. The video's that were made (by fans) are all being pulled from youtube and the like. It's not even sure if the song will even be released.

But I do hope a video will come, and that it will indeed be released and... promoted.

Yeah thats stupid, but some peoples points make sense, and they are still jumped on. People arent always trying to horrible they simply just giving their opinion, so anyone who has a negative opinion no matter how reasonable there argument should they just stay out of the thread and not be able to share the opinions.? b/c thats how its starting to come across
I know thats not what your saying but they way some people get offended its like they are insulting their fam

That's exactly what we don't want. And it also makes me kinda suspicious. Some peeps deliberately like to start sumthang-sumthang, ya know? :agree::agree:

Me thinks they've been drinkin' som jebus juice.....LOL... I think someone is pulling your leg. There is no video that we know of for this song.

Ahhh. You leave for 10 hours and the thread grows 20 pages, lol. I've been able to keep up with it until now, but I just can't anymore.

Anyway, I agree with Hoofmark, the song's simplicity is beautiful. It has a great, uplifing melody, wonderful harmony and a killer vocal from Michael. He just tears that baby up. I keep listening to it over and over. I can't get enough. The song emotes, Michael really makes it, from his opening verse to the addlibs and backing vocals he provides. It's just amazing and it makes you all gooy inside. Just admit it! lol. If it does end up on Michael's album, however, I'm hoping that he's given another verse to sing at least, because as it is, it's not a proper duet at the moment.

Okay, your point is well taken, let's move forward, alright?

Yeah, it's a good song. Clean and simple, but dripping with heartfelt sentiment...

It was not written by or for Michael.. so don't expect an MJ standard song if you're let down.. Be happy he's even on it..

It's definatly not the WORSE song he lended his vocals to... Do I need to list the songs he lended his voice to over the years?

Wut would some of yall rather get NO song with Michael on it? It's simply something nice and sweet to hold us over.

Hee,hee. me too. I have it on replay. I also genuinely like Akons voice in it too. He remminds me of childhood in Jamaica, those carefree days.:D

Let me just add guys, and I've said this before. I think Michael really want's to re-establish himself as a force to be rekoned with, he want's to re-establish himself on the charts I believe. And so with this album, I think he's aiming to create hits, thus the reason he's working with current hit makers. But that by NO MEANS means he's going to release a cookie-cutter, generic product. When has Michael ever done that? Maybe when he was 10. But since he's had control over his own music, he's always produced the highest quality in modern music history, and just because he's going for hit records right now, as I believe, that doesn't mean he'll sacrifice or compromise the quality of the sound, the arrangement of the songs or their artistic merit in terms of melody, rhythm, etc... He'll deliver, believe me. After Michael re-affirms that he's still the man, because he IS, and he shoves all the wanna be's trying to take his place off the stage, which he WILL, then from there, I rekon we're gonna see some seriously complex, deep, heartfelt music from Michael which reflects who he is. Because if you've ever payed attention to Michael's work, he's never been what you would call a goody-two-shoes who likes to party.

the songs grown on me big time. yes its very simple and not would you would probably expect if it were just an MJ song. but its incredibly catchy with a great melody.i guess because of that the simplicity of the song works.what makes a song a big hit is a great melody and catchy music that makes the song get stuck in your head and this song is very much that.i cant get the dam thing out of mine lol id love for this to be released just to see how it would actually do.and would love it if just an mj version appeared. hey a girl can dream. anyway ive burnt this onto a cd and will listen to it loud on some decent speakers and put it on in the car to get a real good feel for it.

Some MJ fans will learn that Michael moves along with the evolution of music and how times change in music better than us fans..

He will have big names of TODAY, because that is what is going to make it a HOTT for the moment.. But alway keep intact Michaels extreme understanding and capability to make music that last forever.. So YES we'll hear aspects of his music that are for TODAYS sound.. But it will have the same strength his albums always have to last forever.

Some of us need to take in the fact music has changed.. Yes many of us don't like how it changed, but MICHAEL will take what has changed and place what has been missing in those pot holes..

It will be a fully ranged album.. for yesterday, today, and tomarrow.

tbh mj has always done that its not anything new. working with dallas austin shaq boyz to men.other artists/producers who at the time were seen as the big new stars or in vogue producers. i guess ppl who are concerned see it as not wanting mj to lose his own ability in creating songs.the type of songs you know are mj written. like who is it will you be there ect. and i guess especially with vince we saw very few if any of those type of songs.they want an album that is A MJ album and not something that sounds the same as any other artist x 10 that is out there

The song has been played in two different radio stations in Norway..:)

Even when Michael does songs other's have written, he adds a quality to it that no one else can, and he makes it his own. You take songs that were either just okay or good, like "Thriller" or "Baby Be Mine" and Michael made them GREAT just through his vocal and he made it distinctly his own.

Of course I want to see Michael write the majority of his own material, because he's a musical genius and his songs are simply better. Michael said he was writing the majority of his album, so I'm not concerned. His records have never been main-stream or cookie-cutter, even when he's worked with the "it" producers or song writers of the time, because inserting himself in to any musical situation automatically makes it special and different.

BTW, I have a question for the USA fans - I know I think I read from an American member that the song was played on their radio station. So, I was wondering, was the song played on your radio stations today? I know it was played on the radio in Italy and Norway, but what about in the States?

I would agree. The beauty of the song is actually its simplicity and the way MJ has elevated the quality of the song with his vocal delivery. I even liked Akon's version of the song. But I knew that MJ had the potential to make it better.

Well, I can't help you on that one. I seldom listen to radio unless it's satellite, but mediabase is tracking plays. The link is up on this thread, page 1.
