How many hundreds of artists over the last 12 months have uttered the words "I'm Working On The New Michael Jackson Record"? Well Akon is one producer who has officially done so & by the sound of this record, MJ might, just might, have rekindled that old magic.

From the solid R&B production, to the brilliantly harmonised vocals of both Akon & Michael, Hold My Hand has that classic Jackson sound. Granted, it is not the greatest track I have ever heard, but I am honestly excited for the Michael comeback.

Wow! We heard that Akon was producing a bit on Michael Jackson’s new album, but it seems as though he is on the debut single for Akon’s new album, Acquitted. I’m sorry, this is craziness, hearing Michael Jackson’s voice on some new music! I’m not an Akon fan, but this could very well make me one. Their voices harmonize very well together - this single is going to be really huge for Akon, and if this is any prelude to what Michael’s material is going to sound like, MJ fans are in for a treat.

After years of doubting if I would hear MJ on a track again, I heard this song today. The good part is that it's a good song, and I love MJ's verse at the beginning. Dude can still sing!

The bad part is that it's an Akon song, and the track dropped a level once he started singing. Dammit I wish this was just Mike's song, he sounded so good at the beginning. The background vocals that Mike does at the end is just great, and it sounds good with Akon.

With more listens I'm starting to love this song, and it's so nice to hear Mike on some new shit!

I honestly think it would be very stupid NOT to release it or to release something else first. You don't have MICHAEL JACKSON on your track and then be like "Hmm, but this other song about smackin another butt is better though" LOL No way!

OK, I have checked hollywood.tv and I did not see any footage of Akon getting angry about the leak or anything on Akon for that matter. I tried checking on x17online.com to see if the footage is there and my comp continued to mess up whenever I was on that site. I am currently on Eonline.com and I am on the daily 10 (that is a show on E!) website and nothing. I have also checked E!News and I didn't see anything.

Ditto over here. It would actually make a lot of sense if it's done like that but then again, MJ could just record all the verses and choruses on his own and do his ad-libs. That hasn't stopped him before, lol.

Yeah, I thought he could have written it too..

I had thought the same thing; it does have that feel to it. Although remember "Man in the mirror" and Michael didn't write that one. He just knows how to pick songs that express how he feels.
Oh, and we know what a perfectionist Michael is, so if he's waiting to release the song because he wants it to be more "perfect", Michael, it couldn't get any more perfect than it already is! (Unless he sang more on it, lol)

I basically missed like 120 pages of this thread, but I have to admit that a mere few words sung by Michael may leave about the same or even more impression than hundreds of comparatively decent complete albums recorded and issued yearly.

And I am not talking about Jackson's fans.

What a power, I am at loss to what it can be compared to.

Can't recall that song.

If this for some reason turns out to be true.. well ahh, it kinda points to an album coming out pretty damn soon considering Akon's is scheduled to come out in the next few months. Maybe both albums are going to coinside with one anothers' release.

It could also be that it will land on that tribute album thing planned by Sony!


And seriously thinking about the "leak" and Akon supposedly being angry and no one being able to find that sound bite, I came to the conclusion that this "leak" can only be an intended leak! I mean, first we have Akon braggin' about Michael being on his new song, then shortly after we have that song in an Akon-only version on YouTube! About 3 months later, presumably after Michael has completed his work on the song, we suddenly have the version featuring Michael all over the net!

If the first leak was a real leak, you'd expect Akon and his people to tighten security, to make sure, that a song, which is still being worked on and is still some way from release, is not going to slip out again!

You're very smart, and I agree! No way the song was "accidentally" leaked twice, once without MJ and once with him. They left it up for a whole day too before taking it off, and they had to know about it before that.

I don't like this song at all. Obviously it's good to hear some new MJ vocals but I still don't like the song. I think it's very very weak especially compared to ALL of MJ's previous work. I know this is an Akon song with MJ just lending some vocals but i'm still very disappointed. I really hope this song isn't going to be on MJ's new album for two reasons: 1) Because I don't like the song 2) If MJ is putting this song on his album it would suggest he doesn't have much strong material recorded for this new album so is being forced to put tracks on the album that I consider to be no where near good enough for an MJ album. Thats assuming that he is going to put Hold My Hand on his album, might not be true.

I'm surprised that more or less all the fans comments i've read say they really like this song. Now is this because you generally do like the song or is it just because it's MJ's first new song for ages?

i think with the massive widespread praise of the song around the web, you can be sure that many, if not most, of the opinions are sincere.
