I never disliked Akon. I didn't even know him. I first heard of Akon when he had the problem in Trinidad. I joined in the debate on his behaviour on the thread here. I defended the dance in so far as it is a caribbean style dance but I condemned the way he treated that girl, not just because oof her age, but because of his handling of women in general, I also didn't like that he picked up that bou and threw him off the stage, but I was never vociferouly against him.

I listened to his music on youtube and felt that he had a good sound that I liked. I defended him against attack with regards to his criminal records, remember?

i know mate, i don't know what you guys read in my post to suggest otherwise but i'm saying that i remember you defending his vocals as i was.

i'd say sorry for the confusion, but there shouldn't be any

TSCM bought up a very good question: Did anyone actually see footage of Akon telling the paps that he was upset or angry that the song was leaked? That would have been online by now. Just wondering. I am not trying to start anything.

BTW, that is great that it is already being played on the radio. I am going to listen to the radio and hear if they are gonna play the song on the radio.

This may be wrong and unpopular, but I'm kinda glad, too. I mean it's a great way to get people hungry for the song. And then to pull it after they've played it just makes the demand for the song go up. Lots of people who have been lucky enuf to catch it on the radio have probably been calling to have it played again...or have told other people who are calling up to have it played.

Heard it on the radio last night too...

In fact, they had a Thriller 25 special...1 hour of T25 music, chart stats and info on Mike's achievements, ending the special with 'HMH' and announcing (sp?) it as Akon's new single ft MJ.

Now I can't remember the last time I heard an MJ special on radio and b4 this I had only heard one song from T25 played.

P.S. Through the whole thing, not a single bad comment about him...

If radio stations are playing it and since it's already leaked, Akon and his record company need to react and just release the single. Even if the album is 2-3 months away the cat is out of the bag and they have to ride the momentum that is building. Waiting on it is very risky.

Gotta agree. I forgot to mention it last night, but I think Classic mentioned in her post (sorry, lack of time to find it and quote it) how the song is being called "fresh" by so many. It needs to come out ASAP before someone else copies this and puts it out first. The song has "summer" written all over it. So, it might be a few weeks earlier than planned (as far as the hiphop site reported for late July), but it's still right on time.

My only concern is that of others, that IF there was a scheduled timetable for this to coincide with other things, putting the song out earlier might throw off other plans connected to it. Yikes. That could be a prob. for MJ and/or Akon. That's the only thing that would suck, imo. Now they have to rush or readjust things, if this is the case.

At this point, we DO know that Michael is on the song (at least he's on a version of it) and he sounds amazing. It's just a matter of what's next. :angel:

I know I stated that I was not a fan of Akon but the song is alright. I do not mind Akon on the song with MJ. It is about what the song is saying and that it is good to hear something new from Mike.

I also think that if some people do not like Akon, or today's music climate in general, they should say it. I do not agree with the insults, but they should say it.

BTW, I never saw a staff member posting a warning about fans disrespecting artists when certain members were trashing Usher, Justin, Chris Brown, etc. on this board countless times. I am just saying.

That collabo actually BOMBED, lol. India said Akon was booked by Motown to help her get a hit and when that didn't work, she was like "these fools put Akon on my track and I didn't want him there".

Honestly though I do like the joint...when she does it on her own. The original was a little more FUNKY.

New Michael Jackson and Akon Track Leaks

Man, they better release this as a single and hopefully soon. The way sales are now, they could make a ton of money off of the single alone at ITunes and, provided that the album will be done within 3 months, it would be great promotion anyway.
