Welcome. You get a good chunk of performance royalties though it's not as good as publishing/writing royalties tho. But he'll get a good amount of royalties if the song is released and becomes a hit.

OMG that girl is sexy. The singing is not the best and the song is too slow, but it's a nice try. It's easy to make a cover because the chord structure is so simple. I have made two instrumentals already, too.. But they are not exactly similarly styled.

bridges could be burnt if this is not handled correctly ... by all involved. Hopefully they will all act in the best interest of the music and not let other issues get in the way.

Yeah, if it doesnt I dont know if I would really care I still dont like Akons too tuff so I dont know if I want to but the single when its released anyway. I would be concerned however if it was Mike single (obv with way more of Mikes vocals)
I dunno I think Mike collab with Akon is to get himself out there again and see what people think of him, if it going to be mostly positive/negative and what not before coming out. With Akon hes got a safe bet that it will get airplay, it will get people thinking about Mike musically again, and help revamp his image as a musician, and help the media and people concerntrate on him as an artist again. And if peps dont like the song its a blame it on Akon its his single so who cares type of vibe. b/c even if people did think the song it awful which I doubt they will and are, Mike vocals are nice and cant truly be faulted unless someone is digging for it and even then, and it also proves to people that YES he can still sing lol and smooth just like before.

Yeah I agree, no need to repeat cause I wrote about this in the post I did before thi. This song aint amazing and I dont think Mike is going to make an insane amount of cash from it so I think for him its mainly about getting reacquainted with his audience again. It reminding people hes still about the music. Isnt that what he did with The Girl is Mine release it because it was guaranteed airplay or something.

Not saying it is bad on anyone but the fact remains, it was SONY/ATV that had Youtube pull the videos from the internet. SONY/ATV = Michael Jackson

Yeah that's all it would do. Other than build Akon's ego on top. "Oh I can rebuild Michael Jackson". :smilerolleyes: I think some are giving Michael too much credit for this particular song. If it doesn't get released or if it fails on the chart, it's all on Akon. WBSS '08 was a hit in the US dance chart and the Australian chart but it bombed in the UK (so far) and in the US on the Billboard Hot 100, it only peaked at number 81, which is respectable for a Hot 100 showing though that's probably not what Sony was expecting.

It seems the only people really serious about the song being released is MJ fans who think Michael should be included in the blame aisle with Sony and Akon, lol. If Michael and his people had said something about it, I'd understand but they haven't so why get mad at them NOW if they don't put it out?

It'll even make me despise Akon even more because he said this song would be the first release. So why is his label now saying "oh we don't know if the MJ duet will be the first single."

Sounds like the clearance issues are still there.

SONY/ATV is SONY and Michael Jackson, it is a partnership. Last I knew he was a major shareholder that would be a part of any legal action that was taken :unsure: I know I am getting old but I missed the news that Michael sold his interest in SONY/ATV.

My honest opinion? Akon's peeps leaked it. Personally I'm glad they did, but I wouldn't be surprised one bit if MJ didn't like it.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's just one big put on.... (the righteous indignation, that is...)
