Ive been saying this since day 1 Dats but fans like to think that talking to a Sony rep in 1 country is confirmation. :smilerolleyes:

My question is, with these various fan clubs having contact with SonyBMG, why hasn't anyone taken this issue up with them?!

They needs to be better communication between the fans and the handlers

Honestly, that doesn't make me any happier, lol. I really don't like hearing other people sing Michael's songs because they can't do them justice and just will never compare, so it bothers me. I'm surprised I liked David Cook's version of Billie Jean, but I did. Still, it wasn't as good as Michael's. I mean, it is nice to pay tribute to him, and he is amazing, and I love for them to give him that respect and show love for his music... I just don't want a compilation; I want a new CD from Michael himself and nothing until then.

What I want is the Dangerous tour rehearsals on DVD along with his Bad and History concerts and unreleased songs.

IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SONY/BMG GERMANY! ;)


It's not yet known which countries will have a release, but Germany will definitely have this "Best Of"-CD released in late August with the title "King of Pop".

More details will follow asap.

NOT TRUE! ;)


It's a "Best Of"-CD consisting of MJ's own material (no contributing artists!). Fans in certain countries (e.g. Germany) will have the chance to vote for their favorite songs that will make this CD.

I don't care, how they mix and match the songs. The world is Flooded with MJ compilation CDs. We have been compilation-ed to DEATH!

They're milking it for everything it's worth, and it's making me sick. They always manage to find an occasion and reason for yet Another compilation.

Granted, some are more relevant than others, but I think it's ripping off the dedicated fans, as they will buy anything and everything with His name on it, and they're getting the same damn thing, every single time, (perhaps in a slightly diff. version if lucky).

At least give the fans something never before seen or heard before, on CD or DVD.
Everything else they can keep!

damn, well the least they could have done is put some effort into using some of the many Sony artists to pay their own homage through covers - no doubt they'll look at it as an honour to contribute.

would have been something different and more suitable imo - fans already have their own collection of fav mj tunes on their ipods.

SONY loves doing that though..

They are just a money making machine.. They do it with several artists..


But MICHAEL more so than any other LIVING artist..

It's a bit sad that it turns out that its just another greatest hits CD. I was actually hoping it would have been people like Alicia Keys and Craig David doing their own versions of Michael's songs as I thought that would have been something which would appeal more to the public and fans alike. It's nice Sony want to celebrate Michael's birthday but I really do think they could something that requires more effort rather than treading the same ground again.

I've just surfed around sonybmg.de and I didn't see any new MJ release. Or actually I found 2. But that was jus the 2 CD's for 1 price. BOTD and VINCE and Badand Dangerous.


But no new album

I emailed a guy at Sony here in Ireland about the cd and this is the reply I got:

Hi Wes,

Yes there is a new compilation – but not in all territories.


The plans are for
- Nationwide voting on the country's favourite MJ songs
- Tracks with most votes will then make up the local tracklisting (same cover concept in all participating markets with local country subtitle, e.g. "Michael Jackson 'KING OF POP' The Dutch Collection")

Whilst the number of countries releasing this album is still tbc, there are no plans at the moment for a localized UK or Ireland King Of Pop album.

well since we've had enough was put on ultimate collection so is not going to be used for Mikes new album.. i want THAT..

Exciting!?! This is just another Greatest Hits album how many re-releases can they release. How many re-releases will YOU (the fans) buy. I'm so fed up with Sony.

I refuses to buy The Essential simply because I am fed up with all the crap Sony have been putting out. At least put some effort into it and give us something we WANT!

Oh no, no again, I though MJ would have the rights of all his songs by now...it means that it is his idea or that he didn't got back the rights of his masterpieces.

the only way it would be 'different' is if we all voted over and over for songs that have not been on a 'best of' album yet.. Songs that are not GREATEST HITS..

Just our favs in general... But it would be really hard to vote and COUNTER other fans that will vote for there favorite HIT..

Yeah, they are gonna name the albums based on where they are released. i.e.

The French Collection
The Spanish Collection
and
The Dutch Collection
etc
