He already explained afterwards that it was only an opinion. But I am not buying that, because the phrasing style that was used does not indicate at all that it was an opinion. It was at such an extent that he was quoted in some tabloids on the net.

I think it's very logical to base my opinion on 'feeling'....Wasn't it Michael himself who said to FEEL the music?

I like Monster too, it is a cool song. I just wish we had less doubt over the voice we hear.

Footage of Michael actually singing this would be the best thing that could happen for not only the Cascio tracks but the whole album and possibly future releases. It would almost silence any doubts and allow people to enjoy this album without questioning its authenticity.

Footage of MJ actually singing these songs should be in every music video that is being made from now on. I was hoping that the video for "Hold My Hand" would have footage of him singing the first refrains of the song.

Here's the way I look at it. This is not for argumentative purposes, just to tell my side of the story.

Michael Jackson was living at the Cascio's house for 4 months. He obviously played a huge role in the writing of these songs (MJ's writing style is so easy to tell). I don't think anyone debates that Michael mostly wrote these songs. So if Cascio and him wrote these songs together...then it is logical to assume that some/all of the songs were recorded to some degree. It's non-logical to think "MJ spent 4 months in a house with a music producer and a recording studio around a time when he was known to be making new music, and did not sing one note into the microphone. It's simply ridiculous to think that they hired Jason Malachi or some other impersonator to come and sing 12 songs. That goes against all logic.

On the other hand... it makes much more sense to think that Michael recorded these songs to a limited degree and failed to finish them. Different parts of the songs were not complete and needed major tweaking. Teddy Riley has said he had to change the vibrato of MJ's voice to match up with some of the new compositions. The studio was in a basement with conditions that were not normal for regular studios that we are used to hearing MJ record in. And finally, Cascio is not a regular producer and would likely be considered B class opposed to the A style producers MJ has always worked with.

Logic would tell anyone that MJ is singing in these songs. Until substantial evidence is presented to the contrary, it will remain my belief that Keep Your Head Up, Monster, and Breaking News are Michael Jackson singing...Just in very different circumstances then we are used to. If I'm proved wrong in the future then so be it. But until then, this is my opinion.

This is what I believed from the beginning as well, I've never doubted Michael is singing, but you have to look at the quality of the production (you only had to look at the Oprah interview and some of the photos of the basement studio to understand this), you cannot and shouldn't compare these Cascio recordings to polished vocal tracks from previous albums.

haha...well, really, though...Mike even said in TII when Kenny asked him during Smooth Criminal "Michael how will you know when the marquee will change' or whatever he said...Michael pauses and says...'I'll feel it...' doesn't sound very logical to maybe, but INSTINCT is a start....Michael was always about instinct, and feeling, and emotion....We can't simply cast that off as a non-logical way of thinking...I wish people would try to understand that...

But the thing is, they do have good quality, polished vocal tracks that they could have used for this album instead. These songs aren't by any means bad, but Breaking News could have been replaced with 'Slave To The Rhythm' for example... STTR is a better song and its definitely Michael - there are no doubts about that song.

I can't honestly say that I have a firm belief either way with these Cascio tracks. Yesterday, all I could listen to was 'Monster', if you had told me it wasn't Michael, I would have ignored you. Today, I'm completely the opposite, I can't listen to it because all I can let myself hear is the similarities between these vocals and some Jason Malachi songs.

I'm really kicking myself because I do love this album but my enjoyment of the album as a whole is getting ruined because of the doubts. :(

All we need is a little bit of proof. Actual proof, that we can hear or see (or both preferably). We can't all be expected to believe in a statement where we're told there has been forensic audiologists (or whatever they are) analysing the songs. Anyone can write a statement but it doesn't necessarily make it true. This is the reason why we're all still arguing and feeling heavy-hearted over the whole thing. If these doubts were straightened out to begin with, we'd be discussing possible future releases and favourite songs without disagreements and petty arguments.

If they are indeed using studio footage, then I'm praying this will stop the doubts and not only add fuel to the fire. The footage needs to show its clearly Michael singing this song... not showing him where he could be singing anything.


Sorry for the essay, I just want this debate to be over for good.

Do we remember our first reactions after listening to Breaking News for the first time? Over 90% of people were gutted. Then, we let "logic" and other reasoning influence our minds. We tried to convince ourselves that we hear Michael.

The ironic thing is that the people who still trust their instincts and feelings, just like what Michael did throughout his life, are sometimes being ridiculed and labelled as "crazy", "illogical", "stupid"...

Actually, this sounds so familiar. Wasn't Michael being ridiculed for not follwing logic many times? What do you think about that interaction between him and Kenny in This Is It? That he could feel the background changed from the marquee to the city skyline. Is it logical for him to feel it? Is it logical for him to know the change without looking back?

I don't mind the discussion about the authenticity or the quality of the vocals. What really bugs me is the use of Jason Malachi.

I mean he's no name person who has no personal vocal style. However in the last few weeks he suddenly became more important, more relevant and it's all done by MJ fans. He received way more credit than he should have. I come to a Michael Jackson forum and I see almost as much talk about Jason as Michael. And I'll bet that Jason is enjoying every bit of this.

Well this happens when you know that in the past some songs that "leaked" were believed to be Michael's and turned out to be Malachi's.

I guess people learn from the past experiences and think the same might be happening. they could be wrong, they could be right. It's all a matter of time, but one way or the other, the truth will arise out of all of this.

Video of Michael in the studio does not prove anything! There is NO WAY Michael could sound that horrible and different!!!! Michael may have worked on Monster, unfortunately he never had a chance to record the lead vocals.. The Casicio's are just want to cash in just like all the other leeches that once called themselves Michael's friends...

Listen to "Michael" say the verse " Mama say mama got you in a zig zag
And you're running
And you're running just to escape it" Does this sound like Michael to you???!!!

How come every discussion on this section ALWAYS leads to an argument regarding authenticity? It's actually really annoying. Whenever there's a general discussion, there's always something like "Much better than those fake songs!" & "That song's good, but I won't be buying the album because of the fake songs!" There's a time and a place for this kind of discussion, and I don't think this thread is that place. This is a place to discuss the music video for "Monster". The fact of the matter is the Estate and SONY have shown valid evidence in the form of testimonies. If anyone has evidence to dispute that, then take SONY and the Estate to court! If you feel cheated, actually put your money where your mouth is and don't use the internet as an outlet. MJ always believed in standing up for what he thought was right. So for all those those "fake-believers", actually do something about it while us "real-believers" listen and enjoy the album.

... It feels good to get that out of my system.

Ivy, I am totally with you. This is so frustrating. :no:
Michael's voice on BN has been heavily processed, autotuned etc, and that voice is being compared to Malachi's best vocal studio recordings. I mean, we have seen that so-called studio MJ recorded the Cascio songs, it was actually not professional at all and terrible for any good recordings. Why? Because all they recorded were simple demos not a studio album!
How can I take these comparisons seriously? And I can honestly say I have never ever believed that any of Jason's songs could be Michael! Jason's voice sounds completely different.

People have slated the Cascio songs so much that it's quite impossible for some to face the truth even if presented with it. And as we have seen, some said they wouldn't believe it even if a video of Michael singing this in the studio was shown. Now what does this tell us? In the back of their mind all they will always picture is Jason. This has nothing to do with one's ears or how long you have been a fan for. I have yet to be given some plausible reason why Sony would do something as ridiculous as hiring an impersonator or why none of the Jacksons have taken legal action.
Why isn't Malachi all over the news talking about "his" songs? And please don't tell me he's been paid to shut up, why would Sony waste money for something stupid like this if they have so much material for numerous other albums to follow? They paid a lot of money, so why paying more to some impersonator and risking a lawsuit? Fraud is a serious crime.

Imo, Teddy Riley did his best with the crappy demos he's been presented. Some are getting too hysterical about this and start accusing people left right and centre without any kind of proof besides their "gut feeling" and "ears".

I don't care about Malachi and I certainly won't be watching any of those stupid comparison videos on youtube anymore. I really don't see they point.

That was my little rant, hope I didn't offend anyone. :flowers:

Why don't they just release the tracks that Michael recorded at the Cascios in their original form and we can move forward..!
