Sorry but my feeling are the same. This thing should be cancelled. The responses from the PR person is strictly contradictory to many of the statements on their FB. They need to make up their minds as to whether they chose the date to coincide with the beginning of Michael's solo career or because of scheduling issues. Their statement about working alongside the estate, reminds me of Mann and that Johnson woman who thought they were also a parallel estate and working to benefit the estate as well. It seems all these crooks have the same philosophy!! I am so proud that MJJC did not take part in this disgraceful affair. The outcome is just what was expected. No clear solutions to the glaring problems embedded in this concert.

Maybe our fears are groundless. Maybe because all that happens, so to speak, before our front door and we see the preparations.
Joe Jackson has an office in Germany; LaToya Jackson has an office in Germany; we experience since 2 years Wiesner in action ….und maybe we simply have too much imagination and see ghosts.

Let us hope that we shake also the head in 2 or 3 years about our scaremongering as it the people act here already today in the forum!

Mneme let me see if I understand you. Are you saying that Joe and LaToya have offices in Germany? What type of business do they do? Does it involve the MJ logo?

Kinda been wondering, according to the FAQ:...artists...will perform songs by Michael and also songs that had special meaning for him... Now if they couldn't 'research' about KISS and instead relied on 'someone' to tell them Michael allegedly liked them, who on earth is going to tell them which songs had 'special meaning'? His oh so knowledgeable family? The KISS informant? Who? Who?? now i'm starting to sound like an owl....

Who can tell us what fan clubs participated in this call? How can we find out?
And although it doesn't matter now, I disagree about not participating...I think it would have be wonderful to confront this Andy P. with the knowledge and passion of Gaz. I think AP would have probably become unstuck and then...

I wouldn't say it doesn't matter, some call are still being scheduled. But since most people here don,t want to hear about it, maybe they'll just post their conversation in their own fangroup. Who knows.

No Ash I am waiting for the cancellation too. My guess is that after today they will see if fans rushed to buy some more tickets and then they will think about another plan.
Twinkle I want to know that too. What is going on in those offices in Germany!!

This has to be canceled. The whole thing surpassed the limit of madness. It's a shame what is happening. Did the Jackson family feels no shame of this mess? Unbelievable what is happening.... :( *big sigh*

I don't remember hearing anything about the tribute until last month. Maybe I'm just late. But I don't remember them announcing it in May.

she is sending a video performance to this mess...probably ONLY for the fact that she loved and respected MJ...I dont think she wants to be in the same place as this whole big mess

Why contact the fanclubs now?

We were contacted this week by GLE for this conference call. We asked them why now? Why not in the early stages of setting up the tribute concert? Picheta explained that they have done many concerts and tributes. Fans are always part of it but normally a small part. With Michael Jackson it’s totally different. They say they didn’t realize that. When they could do this all over again, they would definitely contact the fanclubs in the early stages.

How can a company formed in May have done many concerts and tributes? Unless he does not mean 'they' as a business but as individuals.

Picheta also comments that ‘they’ thought organizing a tribute concert for Michael could only be a good thing.

Organising a tribute concert to the greatest entertainer is good thing. It is a bad thing when it is done for the wrong reasons and with the wrong people!

Timing issue

We asked Picheta why the concert was not scheduled for June 25th or August 29th. Now, the concert is badly timed with the trial against Conrad Murray. Picheta explained that they wanted to do the show on one of these dates but that it came with practical issues like artist booking and vanue availability.

We have disproved the venue availability issue. And how come the big name artists who could not possibly make it on 25/6 or 29/8 STILL ain't available on 8/10? I mean if you changed the date to accommodate them, where are they?


Estate of Michael Jackson

The administrators of the Estate of Michael Jackson are handpicked by Michael himself. It is very important for LMJ that the Estate is involved in a tribute of global size. We asked Picheta why they are not working with the Estate. According to Picheta GLE respects the Estate, the work they do and the copyrights they have. He also is clear about the fact that in the UK it is allowed to perform songs from any artist you want as long as you pay for the use of them. There is an organization that takes 2,5 % of the ticket price to make sure this is done.

Picheta says they feel they are not working against the Estate but alongside the Estate. He also points out that 13 Jackson family members will be either attending or performing at the show.

The Estate's open letter certainly did not give that impression. And even before the estate spokesperson made it clear that they had nothing to do with this 'tribute'.

It would be interesting to know if there was any push back about these answers. Because now GLE can say that they spoke to the fan clubs and everything is hunky dory. When in fact their answers should have been ripped apart and shove back down their throats (apologies for the strong image. LOL).

I must confess that now I'm afraid this tribute won't be canceled. GLE seems to be appealing to the other artists fans. They know these people don't give a damn about Michael Jackson being respected or not, they just wanna watch the concert.
GLE doesn't even treat MJ fans respectfully... they're getting on my nerves!

There's one thing I don't understand... can't the Estate stop them from using Michael's songs??

About beyounce: remember guys she is pregant and travelling round the world etc can take a toll on a pregant woman. She is most likely gonna tape a video preformance now b4 she gets in too near full term of her pregancy, as it will be too hard for her to dance around alot

Yes indeed. All good points. And had MJJC decided not to sit this out, maybe their answers would have been shoved back down their throats. As I said before, this was a chance to fight for Michael. Gone.

And, he WON'T back down. Nope. He won't.

I saw today a video of Joe Jackson and Michael's children, in Gary, Indiana. I will not post the link here, though. (find it if you want?) If there was ever ANY doubt about motivations, that sealed-the-deal. He was hawking PERFUME, and Vodka, and was obviously taking credit for his son's achievements. And yes, the children were trotted out for video and photo-ops. It was completely shameless.

Now, we see that THIRTEEN Jacksons will be performing and/or attending the so-called tribute (although it really should be canceled now). Pretty sure all will be PAID. That family simply does not get it, that we are not THEIR fans. Michael was very, very special, and those people just happen to be his family. . . . .

Autumn you can believe it that if that concert takes place, during the event Joe and others will be also hawking their wares as well and parading the children. Same old tricks, but different venue.

On another issue, I really not pleased to see people being negative about the stance that Gaz has taken on our behalf. If anyone is over concerned about this tribute not taking place, the offer to buy tickets still stands--take advantage of it. Now is not time to jump ship; it was only a few days ago when everyone was joyful about the letters from Gaz, the estate and other forums.

@marebear...at this point I don't think it will either...this travesty of an event, all in Michael's name.....

Global Live does'nt give a damn about Michael Jackson fans, they just want our asses to show up and put our money in their pockets!

^^That is why way back I was asking if there was not a way to get them to remove even the Michael, because we all know they are using the name to generate interest, but it is really a variety show. They are targeting the fans of the artists and do not care about us. Oh Oh, this sounds like Michael's song.

I think the stance Gaz and MJJC have taken is totally correct. As owner of the largest fan-club/message board, his opinion does, actually, bear more weight. The conference call changed nothing, and did not provide adequate answers. The so-called tribute concert is NOT "parallel with the estate," at all. The executors made their stance quite clear. MJJC gave this concert the benefit of the doubt, i.e. remained neutral, until the facts emerged. There was NO "misunderstanding," and there were no "rumors." The facts came directly from GLE, and have not changed.

This is a MONEY-MAKING venture for the Jackson family. Period. The "trust" they say they will set up for Michael's children is a joke. They have no need of it. I think the Jacksons are having huge issues in facing the fact that they really WERE left out of the will, intentionally, by Michael. I do hope this will be canceled, and it will be a wake-up call, and that the family will learn that they really do have to figure out how to support. . .themselves. . . as nearly everyone else does.
