MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Ne-Yo to play Michael Jackson tribute show

"It is intended to be the biggest, and the best concert event in the world for many years to come. This is how Michael would have wanted it and I am sure it will be exactly that. I'll see you on October 8th, 2011!"

Other artists on the bill include JLS, Pixie Lott, Alexandra Burke, Michael's nephews 3T and the Jackson Brothers.

^^Is this satire?

I think in years to come, the story of this tribute concert will be used by lecturers of event management courses as a template of what can go wrong when organising an event. It will probably be supplemented by references to the great Vienna (because he liked castles) Tribute of 2009.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Well, good for those who will attend the show.
The line-up gets better, but I'm still against it, cause the line-up isn't the only matter here.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

How many more tickets will be sold because Ne-Yo has been added to the line-up? Is he a big draw in Cardiff, Wales?

Out of all the questions they chose to answer this one.

Michael Forever Tribute
Lots of you have been asking about what restricted viewing means. Some tickets do have a ‘restricted view’ and they cost less because of this. These types of tickets are standard at many live events in different types of venues. ‘Restricted view’ at the Millennium Stadium refers to the existence of safety barriers in the aisle way of each block.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Has he had nany hits in a while? He has a few fans id think although alot are prob mj fans.might get a few thousand sales out of it. But the issue will always be the tik price.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Finally, somebody worth seeing - a true global star - has decided to attend!

Just think what they could have achieved if they planned this thing for next summer and allowed the stars to find a slot in their schedules rather than most of them be busy...

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

who's ne-yo? :mello:

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

who's ne-yo? :mello:

 Thank YOU!! Don't think I know more than his name. International stars should be someone known around the world, not just in the US and the UK...

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Looking on the site tickets dont seem to be selling much they are only at row 2 for some of the 240quid tiks.loads available in all sections bought 6 at a time

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Unless they announce a huge star like Gaga I just can't see how they're going to be able to sell a good amount of tickets to this thing.

This thing has so hurt and infuriated me that I'm getting to the point where I don't want to support estate endeavors either because it means money to Katherine!

I hate feeling this way about Michael's mother, and will always watch my comments about her, but this tribute feels like a personal slap in the face as a fan. If she seriously believes alienating Michael's most stauchest supporters is going to help her in the long run, she's got a rude awakening coming.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Yeah and those latest snide comments are pathetic

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

It shows she doesn't give a d@mn about fans. It shows she's all about using and profiting from them, and getting something over on the estate.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I start to feel that only the estate can shut this down but it would look really bad.
SIGH~~~~~~~~~~Can't believe there are still artists wanting to get involved with this.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

maybe the family (for I don't know what reason) decided to 'show' the fans that maybe we are bigger in number, but they have more power (or so they think or hope.. or do?)

This is no respect for the fans if they decide to give us a slap in the face saying we are not powerful enough to stop them from doing.. whatever they've been doing lately...

I really wonder what happened in their mind to end up with such a need to do this, and the reasons behind all this. If they respect us, why do they still go on with that? Near 80% are against this concert... smh

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

They have no power whatsoever. Without us, their main target, they can't make a living.

u know she is 82 but it seems like nothing much has changed when it comes to her greed. appears to be as greedy as she was 43 years ago. SMGDH

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I read your entire post with interest, I just want to reply to one thing though, but that doesn't mean I don't get where you are coming from or that I'm dismissing everything else you said.

If you actually read my second post in which I responded to Petrarose I clearly said that white people do it too, but since there is a much smaller pool of successful black people compare to whites, what the Jacksons do stands out much more. As I said my second post, which you clearly didn't read, I said that the Jacksons are the biggest and most well known black family in the world. So, what they do reflects more on how people view black people and what they are doing is stereotypical of what most people think black people with money and power do. Namely, they screw their investments, do very tacky things to make a buck, and sell out their own if it means getting ahead. It may not be fair to the Jacksons, but that simply the way it is.

See the underlined part of this paragraph - I can only speak for myself, I know that a lot of people out there love their stereotypes (which, for me, is stupidity), I see people as individuals. Or in this case a family as just one family, and there are probably, hopefully some people even in this family, who are not really like the rest or won't be when they get older (I'm not talking about Michael's children, but there are other children/young family members in this family, a family also consists of individuals). Just because they act the way they do would never in a million years make me think that all black people or black families (with money and power or without) are like that. In fact, that thought never even crossed my mind once ever.

Still, I know where you are coming from, like I said, sadly, a lot of people love their stereotypes, and that is one thing that is wrong with this world. What I wanted to tell you is that there are still people in this world who are not like that. Maybe in my case is has to do with my own life experience, you should see my family (and I'm white). And how I'm so different than the rest of them that when I was younger, probably because I felt so lost with them, I thought sometimes that I must be adopted (I knew I wasn't though).

The Jacksons do stand out for me, but because of their actions, not because of their skin color.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

It is disingenuous for Mrs Jackson to claim that this hurriedly put together concert will be the best for years to come. The work that went into the Cirque shows dwarfs this (considering how NeYo is now being announced and therefore has not been rehearsing!).

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Haven't we learned yet, that EVERYTHING Katherine says or does is disingengious! Hell, all her posturing of caring about her dead son are disingenous, hence her actions.

Ne-Yo to play Michael Jackson tribute show

Ne-Yo is the latest artist who has signed up to appear at the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert in Cardiff, Wales, in October.

Ne-Yo has been added to the bill for the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert.

The 'So Sick' hitmaker - who wrote songs for the 'Thriller' hitmaker before he passed away in June 2009 - will join the likes of Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis and Craig David in paying tribute to the late singer at the event, which is due to take place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on October 8.

The concert - which will be broadcast around the world - will see the artists each perform tracks from Michael's back catalogue and has been endorsed the King of Pop's family.

His mother Katherine said: "It is with great gratitude for me to give my complete blessing and full support to what I consider to be the one and only Official Michael Jackson Tribute Concert.

"I will be there along with as many members of my family that are available. I am positive that this event will be an event great enough in scale, talent and imagination to form a worthy celebration of Michael's life.

Tickets for the concert are on sale now, priced from £55.

:wtf:

Ne-Yo will join this mess? Oh God.... :sigh: :puke:

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I'm really wondering if the artists that are part of this realize that it has been promoted as a charity event, when in fact it isn't. And how that makes them look, being part of something that only uses "charity" to sell tickets.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I know that Ne Yo looks at Michael as his inspiration and his mentor so he probably wants to honour him. But I wish I could tell him if he really wants to honour his friend Michael Jackson go sit in the court room and show your support there.

Because there is nothing honorable about this tribute in Wales. It is just the Jackson's taking advantage of Michael once again... DAMN!!!:mat:

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

^ MJ wasn't his friend. He met him ONCE.

AS of now, I expect the tribute organizers to reach out to all the artists that spoke out agains the Michael album. First Neyo. Next Black Eye Peas.

Neyo's last record tanked so hard....it might be just another pay check for him.

I wonder if he knows Leonard Rowe is behind the tribute? ha ha ha ....

[h=1]Michael Forever Tribute Concert Fails To Sell-Out Following First Day of Sales[/h]

Tickets for the Michael Forever tribute concert, scheduled for October 8th in the Millennium Stadium, have failed to sell-out after their first day of sales.

Promoters had tried hard to advertise and hype the concert, but there has been a clear lack of demand for the tickets as MJ fans slammed the handling of what was supposed to be “the official Michael Jackson tribute concert.”

But, Global Live Events remained confident that the show would be a sell-out and even claimed that they were in the exact position they had hoped and expected to be in with regards to ticket sales – despite previously saying “Tickets for the Concert are expected to sell out very soon after they are put on sale.”

Paul Ring, US chief of GLE, said: “The registration process saw around 26,000 tickets taken up. Ticket sales have only been open for a short time, but we know that the system did crash at one point.

“We hope to have sold around 50% of the tickets by the weekend, which is exactly how we had it planned. We then expect to be sold out by the end of the month.

“With an event like this it is hard to get so many headliners to confirm, but once a few have confirmed it is like a domino effect.

“We will be announcing three more big acts in the next few days and once they have been named, ticket sales will speed up even more. We know that fans are taking a bit of a gamble buying tickets now but I encourage people to get their tickets now rather than wait so they can get the best seats.”

The under-fire co-ordinators have continuously spoken to press about their concert in their bid to advertise and promote their gig as much as possible, but fans may begin to wonder how much truth there is in their repetitive reassurances that the concert will be a massive, sold-out show after blunders like their dubious charity donation scheme.

Ticketline’s Cardiff branch has told press that though some tickets had been sold, there was no real large-scale demand – whereas tickets for Princess Diana’s tribute concert sold-out within 20 minutes, and Freddie Mercury’s in 2 hours.

Hip Hip Hurrah, Hip Hip Hurrah!!!!!! Thank God. First they say tickets will sell out soon after sales begin. It did not happen, so they say this is what they expected. They will meet 50% over the weekend. These guys will never concede defeat. They always come back with "we expected that" statements.

Those people who bought tickets from Wales, I expect they are happy a concert is in their area and want to take advantage of it.

Please spread the word about this good news guys and may I congratulate fans who have not bought tickets to keep the boycott alive!!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

What mother would think and say this sloppy mess would make her son proud, or it would be the best concert for years to come. I wish they will stop making Katherine look and sound so foolish. Even though she wants to make a statement her big sons and daughters should help her come up with something better.

Again, just what we said; they are adding more names until they get enough sales. This is certainly, a variety show. Notice they are still saying this concert will be shown around the world--I hope the estate never gives consent for any rights!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I know this will sound crazy but at this point if the concert happens then fine. The family will face the consequences later. They have no idea how they have angered the majority of the fanbase. They probably don't care but they will when no one will buy their products or anything starting with Jermaine's book. If they think the estate gives them a hard time well they will see what Michael's fans can be tough too. We are Michael's fans not theirs. We won't forget this at all.
