MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

They DON'T need a "second trust." But WHY? So the Jackson family can bleed it dry? Just sayin'.

Actually... The kids have been robbed twice...

Since Latoya is in all this.. She made money using her bro's name and stories with her album and book... she took that money, gave 100 000$ to GL in order to make a fake check to the kids in Katherine's name... and they're probably gonna split that check 50/50.

Had to laugh at this description from the viagogo ticket site...wonder if anyone has told Jermaine? (I wonder who gives them this info?)

http://www.viagogo.co.uk/Concert-Tickets/Rock-and-Pop/Michael-Jackson-Tribute-Tickets

The death of Michael Jackson, the undisputed King of Pop, shocked the world. “The Tribute - In Memory of Michael Jackson” is a concert that will honour Michael Jackson’s life and work. Michael Jackson’s brother, and fellow member of the Jackson 5, Jermaine Jackson is organising this Michael Jackson tribute along with other members of the Jackson family. Fans with Michael Jackson tribute concert tickets can expect to see a show that celebrates the King of Pop’s greatest hits. So make sure you get your, “The Tribute - In Memory of Michael Jackson” tickets so you too can celebrate the King of Pop

EDIT: I think viagogo have probably re-used wording from the failed Wembley tribute....but I wonder if this might give the estate ammunition to close down ticket sales....the description mentions Michael's full name........... (Ooops!)

BRILLIANT!!!!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Just had a quick peruse on their wall on facebook and apparently chris hunt said in a radio interview they sold 25,000 in the registration period. I take it he means sales as opposed to registrations, you never know with these guys. Also Black eyed peas are rumoured to be performing.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

^^^^ The Vienna proposed tribute that was cancelled in '09 sold well at first, too. However, if Blackeye Peas do perform, chances are good Global will have a sell out with this show.

This is what Vienna promoters said about their ticket sales when show was cancelled.

"Organizers had expected artists to reinterpret Jackson's greatest hits including Billie Jean, Thriller and Bad, in front of an audience of 65,000. Tickets had been on sale for 63 to 518 euros ($91-$745). A spokeswoman for the Organizers said over half of the 65,000 tickets had been sold but that sales had stagnated with the bad publicity following the announcement of the line up."

So was the cheque for the kids made out to the estate? Just wondering:-$

Just wish the estate would step in with an injunction and stop this fiasco in it's tracks.

Especially since Viagogo os clearly naming MICHAEL JACKSON - KING OF POP on their page... with a picture of Michael...

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I have a feeling this concert will happen somehow. They don't care about Michael. Just using their connection to him to make themselves feel like stars. Stars they are not. This might sound strange but I am glad in a way this happened. Since Michael died I think we fans have been struggling who to support. I think the cloud has been lifted and I support Michael and his wishes. His family as long as they continue to ignore and go against his wishes I don't support them. I support his kids because I wish them well. But for his family they constantly ignored what Michael would have wanted for his legacy and for his kids. With the trial now just weeks away my thoughts are on that. I am very worried about that. I have never seen a family use someone's death the way the Jacksons have used Michael's. It's really sad and I just don't understand that kind of behavior.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Anybody think Janet will join the fun?

I think her silence speaks volumes...

Anyway I would be surprised if the Black Eyed Peas did this. I think it's just a rumour to get attention for this catastrophe!!

Michael Jackson Cardiff gig signs up 'major artists

The organiser of the controversial Michael Jackson Cardiff tribute concert says "two or three very major artists" will be added to the bill in the next week.

Some Jackson fans have called for the October gig to be called off, saying it is "doomed to fail."

But Paul King said he was confident Michael Forever at the Millennium Stadium would be a sell-out.

Tickets went on sale at 09:00 BST on Wednesday.

Organisers Global Events Live have invited disgruntled fans to air their views in a global conference call.

"We are 100% going ahead. We will continue to announce names for the line-up," said Global Events Live spokeswoman Juliette Harris.

"We are moving forward and now we will try to address issues that have been raised by fans."

'Speculation has run riot... rumour has got completely out of hand
Paul King concert organiser
Despite reports that Jackson's mother Katherine, his sister La Toya and brothers Tito, Marlon and Jackie, were endorsing the event, the late singer's other brothers Jermaine and Randy labelled it "inappropriate" and "ill-timed".

Some fans of Jackson - who died in June 2009 aged 50 while rehearsing for his This Is It tour - are unhappy with confusion over charitable donations from ticket revenue.

They also have issues with the timing of the concert, during the involuntary manslaughter trial in Los Angeles of Jackson's doctor, and the now withdrawn invitation to rock band Kiss.

Chris Hunt, president of Global Events Live, pointed out that Jermaine Jackson "has himself attempted to set this concert up a number of times and not been able to do so".

He added that the beneficiaries of the concert would be the Aids Project Los Angeles, the Prince's Trust and a trust fund for Michael Jackson's children, Prince Michael, 14, Paris, 13, and nine-year-old Prince Michael II, known as Blanket.

Mr King said: "There has been insufficient information for the fans.

"Speculation has run riot about what it's all about, who the beneficiaries are, why it's taking place. That rumour has got completely out of hand."

He added that the timing of the concert at the same time as the trial was a "complete coincidence".

"The trial has been moved several times already," he said.

"In fact there's speculation that the trial will in fact be moved again."

Verified Jackson fan clubs will now be invited to take part in a conference call on 30 August, in which promoters will try to allay their concerns.

Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Smokey Robinson, as well as several British acts will perform Jackson songs along with their own material at the tribute. Beyonce will also beam in a cover version of a Jackson hit by satellite.

'Astronomical prices'

There has been a mixed reaction from fans to the concert.

Matt Blank of the Michael Jackson World Network Fan Club said it would have been cheaper to see Jackson himself, if he had performed his This Is It tour, than to see tribute acts like JLS singing his songs.

Tickets for Jackson's concerts at the O2 arena in London were priced between £30 and £80.

But the show at the 75,000-seat Millennium Stadium range from £55 to £240.

"When you're hearing astronomical prices like £200 you think why is this? Why was seeing Michael himself cheaper than seeing these tribute acts?" said Mr Blank.

But some fans, such as Michael Erskine from Swansea, said they were still keen to see the concert, as it would be "engaging with a lot of youngsters who might not have known Michael Jackson for his talent".

"For youngsters knowing JLS, knowing Leona Lewis, they'll be attracted to the concert," said Mr Erskine.

"For me it's appreciation of his music and that's why I want to go."

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Couple of things I noticed whilst looking at the Millennium Stadium website:

events scheduled, after this 'tribute' nothing is scheduled until Feb NEXT YEAR...so seems as if rescheduling the date wouldn't have been hard to do.

US Director of Global Live Events, Paul Ring said: "This is just the beginning. As the reality gains ground of just how a unique and amazing event this is, many more performers will join us on the stage in Cardiff on October 8th. This concert will span generations and musical genres, reminding everyone of just how amazing was Michael's tale
So sounds as if he is acknowledging that they didn't have much of a line up to begin with...and what, he is relying on this 'reality' attracting droves of wonderful performers?

WRU Group Chief Executive Roger Lewis, said: "The Millennium Stadium has a proud history of attracting world-class music artists to its multi-event arena and it gives me great pleasure to announce that the Michael Jackson tribute concert will be staged at the iconic venue this autumn.
Looks like the Millennium Stadium people themselves are calling it the MJ etc...But who knows, perhaps they got Estate approval...(sarcasm alert)

And lastly, I guess that someone thinks the fans are rolling in money...(I tried to get a screenshot of this but couldn't do it) the hospitality packages---3 prices for the luxury minded Michael fan 4700, 5868 or 5988 pounds. Oh that doesn't include VAT. http://www.millenniumstadium.com/WRU_P15544_WRU_MJTC_Hosp.pdf I'm sure the average fan club can organize enough people to purchase one of these packages for an unobstructed view of Beyonce's 'Beam In'...Although to be perfectly fair, I don't know who sets the prices...the Stadium or the organizers...But from the way the ad is worded, looks like the packages could belong to GL. I don't know.. I just know I'm disgusted with this whole thing. But what's new about that?

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Trust me, I've been there for about two weeks now. The only good thing I can see coming out of this is that the Jacksons can never do something like this again because they put the final nail in their coffin when it comes to there rep.

On a personal note, what the Jacksons have done over the pass two years has offended me passed what they had done to Michael. I cannot speak for anyone else on this board, but the reason I am offended is because it seems so stereotypical on how the Jacksons has been acting. Selfie from KOP said it best. Here we have the first black family that really put its mark not just on music history, but the history of the black struggle to reach for greatness in the world and here they are acting like they came from the ghetto.

I mean, a white family would protect the name of their love one and beat down anyone who speak badly of one of their own. Even if they didn't even personally like the person. However, with this black family, they are so willing to throw their love one under the bus for a quick buck. They come across as selfish, petty, greedy, and pretty much confirm all of the stereotypes when it comes to black people in money. I find this annoying and this pisses me off.

I am not asking the Jacksons to act like saints and be better that their white counterparts just to stick it to the media. I am asking this because others who want to follow in their footsteps see them as a model of a successful black family. A generation has been watching and learning from them and this is what they are force to see from the 'First Family of Soul'.

Standing ovation.

I have said EXACTLY that not long ago in the Jackson 2300 thread. And I was call a racist...even though....I am black....But no worry..we are far from being the only people thinking that.

The Jacksons are acting like uncivilized, uneducated people, not a family that has been in showbiz for over 40 years. That wasn't a secret within the industry...and now the public knows.

Wow. a whole glass of champagne and a commemorative pass each....(er, thats 8-12 glasses of champagne to a bottle usually, so one or two bottles at erm, maybe £25 each?
Speechless!
and laughing at the 'fast service merchandise ordering'....  :tickingtimebomb

....and unless you live nearby, you still presumably would need to pay for travel costs, hotel, meals etc.

I've just looked up a comparison for corporate hospitality costs, and for a similar price (or not much more, depending on dates) you can get a whole day 'Wimbledon No 1 court' package with coffee, lunch, tea, free bar all day etc etc.

I can't help but wonder if the bottle of Champagne will be the one with Joe's face on it. Maybe they will also give away the candy and ice to go alone with it.

For the last few weeks MJJCommunity maintained a neutral position towards Michael Forever Tribute due to our love and respect for Katherine Jackson. August 15th developments and the announcement of Kiss as an act in Michael Forever Tribute left us no choice but to voice our concerns.

As many of the fans had already made it clear, the timing of the concert during the middle involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson and the steep and questionable pricing / charity donation were also some of our major concerns as MJJC. Although we are happy to see any artists do a tribute to Michael, we weren’t quite satisfied with the caliber of the artists announced. However nothing was more troublesome than the involvement of Gene Simmons (Kiss) who in multiple statements mentioned that he believed Michael Jackson to be guilty of molesting kids.

There’s no justification for the involvement of Gene Simmons in a tribute that’s supposed to honor Michael and where his kids will be present, as Gene Simmons said “ There’s no question in my mind he molested those kids. Not a doubt.” (Classic Rock Magazine Interview), “Michael's children...none of whom are biologically his” (Gene Simmons Facebook) and alleged that Michael took underage boys to Brazil (Dean Blundell Show). Furthermore just the announcement of his participation once again brought all these negative statements to the main focus of the media. Global Live Events are guilty of not doing their homework and once again helping to drag Michael’s name through the mud. This is not something we need especially not right before the trial of Conrad Murray.

We want to make it known that we as MJJC do not support Michael Forever Tribute for the above mentioned reasons. We urge the fans not to attend and make a statement to the organizers to show that we aren’t happy about the conditions of this tribute and how the memory of Michael is treated.

Sincerely

MJJCommunity.com

Thank you for this Ivy. I support MJJC's position 100%. I see many other Michael support sites feel the same way. Thank you MJJC.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I have a feeling this concert will happen somehow. They don't care about Michael. Just using their connection to him to make themselves feel like stars. Stars they are not.

It seems so. If it is true 25,000 people registered or bought sales, then with more added artists one would expect more people to buy tickets. I wish something could happen to stop this now, but it looks as though the show will go on. We will just have to look at it as a concert and not a tribute and look forward to the great show the estate will produce.

So after reading on the fan boards that we found out Latoya was involved in this tribute from inception, Hunt admits it. I guess he saw our documentation and realized there was no need to lie. Now we know that Latoya and her team came up with this brilliant idea, set up a company in March, then went to Katherine and the brothers with the plan. Jermaine and Randy for some particular reason said no way, and the family said who cares we are going to go ahead. We have always used Michael when he was alive so why should we stop now?

Wow unbelievable I think Gene Simmons has really serious moral issue. Why did he agree to perform in someone's tribute when he thought that person is a pedophile? Are you serious? I said before, either he is a hypocrite or he has some serious issue when he agreed to perform. This is one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever seen.

BTW, I feel really offended by Chris Hunt's interview for BBC. What the hell he said that fans didn't pay attention to their reply? I really want to say WTF........Any fans with brain and eyes know what are they doing. They are saying we are naive? Give me a break. What happening now really made me sick. Poor MJ, I can't image what he had to endure all his life beside all the crap we already knew. No wonder he run as far as he can and now his family said it's because he had drug addict? I guess they just can't admit that their greedy is one of the reason to drive MJ apart.

I hope John Branca can come and being an asshole again. This really need to be stopped. I can't believe there are really some MJ fans willing to pay to see this money grabbing tribute. The whole things are so disrespecting to MJ.
