MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You said just what I was fixin' to write...

And I wonder what the heck this was really trying to say:

Meaning what exactly?? If not his talent, then what is he implying they know him for? Is this supposed to be a not so subtle insult??

This makes me angry too. So much these days makes me angry...is not good for blood pressure and peace of mind.

And you know what, when this whole sorry thing ends and ends badly, it wouldn't surprise me if we get the blame for not supporting the family in it's attempt to honor 'the maker of Thriller', or for 'sabotaging' their efforts, or some such thing.

I think I speak for many fans when I say...."WHO cares what THEY think about us fans"..let them blame US...we are the ones that know Michael the best...we are the ones that WOULD NEVER even try to put on this "one pony circus" BEFORE Michael has gotten justice. It is all so obvious that the Jacksons have thought about their own pockets from the very beginning of this thing...and NOT Michael. So I say...WHO CARES.what THEY think...blame us...we dont really give a shit. In the end of all this ..it is STILL us the fans that are there for Michael...NOT the entire Jackson family...and someday...and I dont know when that will be....they WILL hopefully get that. If they dont ..then they are stupider than I thought

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Oh I agree none of us will care if we get the blame... isn't that the Jackson way, always to blame others rather than see the any fault with themselves.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

The offer of a conference call indicates to me that they REALLY don't 'get' MJ fans at all.
Do they imagine that anything they say will change fan's views, when it is apparent that fans have thought about this 'Tribute' more carefully and in more depth than any of the people planning it? From their actions, this seems to me to be a purely numerical exercise: Stack up a few performers, add the family, add Michael's name on top and the fan 'herd ' instinct will kick in; the 'no effort' way to easy money..just count your takings and go.
They really don't seem to be in the same book, let alone on the same page as most fans. They clearly care nothing for fan's thoughts and feelings about what a tribute should look and feel like, when is a good or bad time for one and who should be involved (it is just completely counterproductive to try and circumvent the estate!).
I can see no 'middle ground' whatsoever to this proposed discussion, and no room for any compromise. They have 'created their History'; the parts played by the participants will not be easily forgotten. Now we need to turn the page, leave this mess behind and concentrate on more important things.

Michael's legacy deserves better and I am sure will have better, all in good time.

Michael Jackson gig organiser defends Cardiff tribute[/h]http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/14647686

Interview by Debbie Randle, words by Del Crookes
Newsbeat reporters

The organiser of the Michael Jackson tribute concert is defending the event saying that they have the "overwhelming majority" of his family behind them.
It's after opposition from Jermaine and Randy Jackson, who say the concert shouldn't go ahead because it will clash with Conrad Murray's trial.
Michael Jackson's former doctor is accused of involuntary manslaughter.
"There's nothing in this. It's not something to get excited about," said Chris Hunt from Global Live Events.
"The notion that an event which reminds people just how fantastic Michael Jackson was, what a loss he was to the world he is, what a great singer, a great performer he was, should be inappropriate - it doesn't compute, it doesn't make sense."
'Proper tribute' Jermaine and Randy Jackson also say Global Live has "mishandled" the booking as well as "misjudging" the event's timing.
Rock band Kiss were dropped from the bill after over comments made by Gene Simmons. During a magazine interview last year the bassist said Michael Jackson was a child abuser.

I think what's happened is that there's been a campaign, which some of them have listened to and haven't heard our responses to it yet
Chris Hunt's response to fans

The singer was cleared of child molestation in 2005.
Chris Hunt says all the criticism about the concert is understandable but wrong.
"They were saying that it was a pity that there had not been a big scale, proper tribute to Michael.
"We began to think, 'Why don't we try and do one.' LaToya was the lead one but there were other family members around as well.
"There are two that aren't so happy. I don't wish to be ungenerous to anyone. I have the greatest respect for Jermaine, who I've met a number of times.
"He did a couple of times announce that he was going to organise a concert like this and then wasn't unable to do so. So I suppose it's a little understandable."
'No worries' A coalition of 35 fan communities has since written an open letter to the concert organisers asking for the event to be cancelled.
But Chris Hunt says they haven't heard all the facts.
Michael Jackson was preparing for a series of UK gigs when he died in 2009 "We have the greatest respect for the fans," he said. "We've been listening to the fans.
"I think what's happened is that there's been a campaign, which some of them have listened to and haven't heard our responses to it yet.
"This concert will sell out either very quickly or quickly. We have no worries about it at all."
The Michael Forever concert takes place at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on 8 October.
Artists confirmed to be taking part include Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Cee Lo Green, JLS, Alexandra Burke and Beyonce, who will perform via satellite.
Speaking to Newsbeat about the controversy surrounding the concert, Alexandra Burke said: "I definitely think it should go ahead, but it's not up to me. I think the family should decide amongst themselves."
She added: "I've got three weeks of rehearsals booked in [for the concert] because I'm trying to make sure I do these songs justice."
Michael Jackson died in June 2009 aged 50 while rehearsing for his This Is It UK tour. Conrad Murray has pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge, arguing he did not cause the singer's death.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

One thing that has worried me regarding the timing of this MJ concert is not just the fact it is extrordinarily tasteless and inappropriate to hold it during the manslaughter trial of the doctor charged with killing MJ, but the fact it could actually be harmful to getting a conviction. I know the concert is in Wales but i think the idea was to broadcast it on tv and even to have huge screens broadcasting it in the US. Some could see it as crass attempt to sway the jury and to mould public opinion and you only need look at the jury in the casey anthony case to see that they didn't like being bulldozed into reaching a certain verdict. Didnt a news commentator in the US (can't remember her name -Jane Valesque-something double barrelled?) say on a programme segment on the tribute 'that when the Jacksons get in a jam they put on a show' meaning it in an extremely disparaging way.

The judgement of the Jacksons/global live in this whole affair has really been shocking.

Wow, some very unpleasant comments about Mellie on FB just now.... :( unjustifiably personal imho

There are 16 middle tear blocks not for sale (each with 15 rows of seats) and 13 Upper tear blocks not for sale (each with 33 rows of seats). I haven't been able to find out how many seats there are per row in each block but just thought it was interesting to see that just under half of the Upper and Middle tear seats are not for sale through the tribute page.
I wonder if this is because all seats in those blocks have already sold out?

This is also a little odd..... from the FB Tribute site...looks like a genuine comment:

Quote: I know someone that went for gold circle and didn't get them, yet they are starting to sell on ebay?? Something odd!/ uNQUOTE

EDIT
I don't know if I am interpreting this site correctly, but it seems to be selling 'general admission' ticketsat 6 for £190 which is £31.80 each ( Lowest pre-reg price was £55 , I think?)

I'll bet they've been listening but they sure haven't been hearing. I esp. like the bold part...setting up to cast blame already, are they?? "haven't heard our responses to it yet"... yeah, right. Well could it be because they have nothing to say!!!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Golden Circle tickets ARE available through the forevermichael site, so they haven't sold out. I have no idea why the person you quote would have been unsuccessful in pre-registering for the tickets. The good thing is that person CAN get them after all...

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I can't believe some of the comments on that FB wall... Some of those people actually believe KJ is in charge of the Estate... How ignorant can people be??!!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

well i hope chris hunt realises that this stadium would be filled with 2% MJ fans (naive ones) and 98% fans of the other artists.

This is not a MJ tribute, this is just a random concert where 'some' mj songs will be sung.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I'm pretty sure Chris Hunt doesnt give a crap who's in that stadium as long as the tickets are sold.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Yeah they dont care aslong as soneone buys them.anyone

Had to laugh at this description from the viagogo ticket site...wonder if anyone has told Jermaine? (I wonder who gives them this info?)

Michael Jackson Tribute Tickets

The death of Michael Jackson, the undisputed King of Pop, shocked the world. “The Tribute - In Memory of Michael Jackson” is a concert that will honour Michael Jackson’s life and work. Michael Jackson’s brother, and fellow member of the Jackson 5, Jermaine Jackson is organising this Michael Jackson tribute along with other members of the Jackson family. Fans with Michael Jackson tribute concert tickets can expect to see a show that celebrates the King of Pop’s greatest hits. So make sure you get your, “The Tribute - In Memory of Michael Jackson” tickets so you too can celebrate the King of Pop

EDIT: I think viagogo have probably re-used wording from the failed Wembley tribute....but I wonder if this might give the estate ammunition to close down ticket sales....the description mentions Michael's full name........... (Ooops!)

This is interesting. It looks like La Toya was involved from the very beginning (as everyone probably suspected).

Whoops they just admitted what we all knew.latoyas money making scam from the get go

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Can we just back track on this thread for a sec., I'm still confused whether they can perform any of Michael's songs from his solo career, I'm thinking they can (as others have done in the past) so long as they don't release DVD's etc. Have Global Live actually answered that question?

and....(I have just realised) it is advertising using Michaels full name.........

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

They just have no shame. Anything for money. This concert doesn't have anything to do with who Michael was and what he believed in.

Myosotis Ooops... :p Not to mention, the picture...

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

What an irritating interview chris hunt gave to BBC newsbeat. He didn't say anything substantial (apart from confirm Latoya's leading role) and just said the fans 'haven't heard our responses yet' so why didn't you use this prime time opportunity to do just that? We just have to wait another week so they can get all their ducks in a row and come up with some pat answers to carefully selected fan 'concerns'.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

"This concert will sell out either very quickly or quickly. We have no worries about it at all."

B.S. I'll repeat it once again Freddy Mercury tribute sold out in 2 hours, Princess Diana in 20 minutes. this concert isn't selling out quickly at all.

and what did we got wrong Chris Hunt?

- We said that you charity donations were coming from the pledged money and not the ticket prices. We were right.
- We said that seeing Michael himself was cheaper. We were right
- We suspected Latoya was behind this tribute. We were right.
- We felt that you weren't prepared and didn't have artists signed up. We were right, you couldn't announce your line up at the date you announced.
- We said that Michael's children was a part of the contractual agreement. We were right, they are listed under terms and conditions.
- We said that most of the artists wasn't the "galaxy of superstars" , we were right.

seriously what did we got wrong?
