MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I'd say that Gaz, as Da Owner of the BIGGEST Michael Jackson fan-club/message board, should be at the very top of the list? And given that MJJC's letter made it all the way to mainstream news? If that call happens, there will be NO confusion anymore about what fans REALLY want? Which is. . . NO concert.

I agree completely..But seeing as how desperate they are, they might even include their own workers who act as if they are not on their side at first, then are somehow magically convinced that this 'tribute' is a great idea..Just to try to win people over..You never know with these people organizing it..Look at everything else they have tried to do to get people to buy tickets, the idea that they will make sure that this 'conference call' is going to be stacked in their favor is actually minor compared to the other stuff..

I'm actually shaking I'm that angry!!! It's a weird feeling! *Goes to beat the fuck out of a wall* Sticks & stones may break my bones but Global really piss me off. They are mugging the fans off big time.

Trust me, I've been there for about two weeks now. The only good thing I can see coming out of this is that the Jacksons can never do something like this again because they put the final nail in their coffin when it comes to there rep.

On a personal note, what the Jacksons have done over the pass two years has offended me passed what they had done to Michael. I cannot speak for anyone else on this board, but the reason I am offended is because it seems so stereotypical on how the Jacksons has been acting. Selfie from KOP said it best. Here we have the first black family that really put its mark not just on music history, but the history of the black struggle to reach for greatness in the world and here they are acting like they came from the ghetto.

I mean, a white family would protect the name of their love one and beat down anyone who speak badly of one of their own. Even if they didn't even personally like the person. However, with this black family, they are so willing to throw their love one under the bus for a quick buck. They come across as selfish, petty, greedy, and pretty much confirm all of the stereotypes when it comes to black people in money. I find this annoying and this pisses me off.

I am not asking the Jacksons to act like saints and be better that their white counterparts just to stick it to the media. I am asking this because others who want to follow in their footsteps see them as a model of a successful black family. A generation has been watching and learning from them and this is what they are force to see from the 'First Family of Soul'.

</SCRIPT>Michael Jackson Cardiff gig signs up 'major artists

The organiser of the controversial Michael Jackson Cardiff tribute concert says "two or three very major artists" will be added to the bill in the next week.

Some Jackson fans have called for the October gig to be called off, saying it is "doomed to fail."

But Paul King said he was confident Michael Forever at the Millennium Stadium would be a sell-out.

Tickets went on sale at 09:00 BST on Wednesday.

Organisers Global Events Live have invited disgruntled fans to air their views in a global conference call.

"We are 100% going ahead. We will continue to announce names for the line-up," said Global Events Live spokeswoman Juliette Harris.

"We are moving forward and now we will try to address issues that have been raised by fans."

'Speculation has run riot... rumour has got completely out of hand
Paul King concert organiser
Despite reports that Jackson's mother Katherine, his sister La Toya and brothers Tito, Marlon and Jackie, were endorsing the event, the late singer's other brothers Jermaine and Randy labelled it "inappropriate" and "ill-timed".

Some fans of Jackson - who died in June 2009 aged 50 while rehearsing for his This Is It tour - are unhappy with confusion over charitable donations from ticket revenue.

They also have issues with the timing of the concert, during the involuntary manslaughter trial in Los Angeles of Jackson's doctor, and the now withdrawn invitation to rock band Kiss.

Chris Hunt, president of Global Events Live, pointed out that Jermaine Jackson "has himself attempted to set this concert up a number of times and not been able to do so".

He added that the beneficiaries of the concert would be the Aids Project Los Angeles, the Prince's Trust and a trust fund for Michael Jackson's children, Prince Michael, 14, Paris, 13, and nine-year-old Prince Michael II, known as Blanket.

Mr King said: "There has been insufficient information for the fans.

"Speculation has run riot about what it's all about, who the beneficiaries are, why it's taking place. That rumour has got completely out of hand."

He added that the timing of the concert at the same time as the trial was a "complete coincidence".

"The trial has been moved several times already," he said.

"In fact there's speculation that the trial will in fact be moved again."

Verified Jackson fan clubs will now be invited to take part in a conference call on 30 August, in which promoters will try to allay their concerns.

Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Smokey Robinson, as well as several British acts will perform Jackson songs along with their own material at the tribute. Beyonce will also beam in a cover version of a Jackson hit by satellite.

'Astronomical prices'

There has been a mixed reaction from fans to the concert.

Matt Blank of the Michael Jackson World Network Fan Club said it would have been cheaper to see Jackson himself, if he had performed his This Is It tour, than to see tribute acts like JLS singing his songs.

Tickets for Jackson's concerts at the O2 arena in London were priced between £30 and £80.

But the show at the 75,000-seat Millennium Stadium range from £55 to £240.

"When you're hearing astronomical prices like £200 you think why is this? Why was seeing Michael himself cheaper than seeing these tribute acts?" said Mr Blank.

But some fans, such as Michael Erskine from Swansea, said they were still keen to see the concert, as it would be "engaging with a lot of youngsters who might not have known Michael Jackson for his talent".

"For youngsters knowing JLS, knowing Leona Lewis, they'll be attracted to the concert," said Mr Erskine.

"For me it's appreciation of his music and that's why I want to go."

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Global I guess Katherine is going to be all over the place in radio spots saying "my son's concert".
Funny, but what else can they do, unless they describe him: the guy who did Thriller, the only Jackson superstar. Let's see what happens today, because I am really curious to know how many sales they got so far. Strange that they have not advertised in the UK. Maybe they are hoping the conflict in the news will promote sales--backward way of thinking, but we are dealing with people whose greed overpowered their intelligence.

HELLO, is this person for real. How will youngsters get to know Michael music from a concert that does not have his music, where they cannot use his name, where they cannot show videos of him performing? If this is a fan, the person surely has not been keeping up with how this tribute has been structured. In fact, these youngsters would learn more about Michael by buying them the Vision DVD set, TII DVD, and some of his albums, and they would have to spend less money.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

If they do sell enough tickets and keep the show going, then it truly speaks volume on how diversified and sizable Michael's fan base is. No offense to the Welsh people, but Cardiff is not a prime tourist attraction. So, enough people are willing to travel to Cardiff to attend the concert despite the location, the high admittion price and the controversies surrounding it???

The concert has not received just lukewarm reception, but met with major fans' objections. Whose tribute concert can survive this kind of backlash? I can't imagine this kind of poorly organized concert can attract the level of demand they hope for. If this kind of mess can attract 70,000, then the demand for a properly and respectfully organized tribute is going to be huge.

prob a fake name for paul ring.or someones friend! Its a damage control piece

The conference call looks like crisis management, they probably have stock answers to fan 'concerns'.

With the timing they can say that the concert was long in the planning and that the trial was unexpectely postponed (I think in late april). This is laughable as the concert promotors only formed their company in late march and exactly how much planning asides the venue and date had been done by late July when they held their first press conf, they certainly couldn't reveal any of their less than stellar line up until august. I would LOVE to know when they actually booked cardiff stadium.

They just might bow to fan concerns and say they will give 'proceeds' of ticket sales to charity. This is meaningless as it could be a tiny percentage of proceeds, a few percent. They might also say they will give a proportion of 'profits' to the charities. This should raise a red flag as the organisers could just hike up their expenses (eg Latoya could charge £100,000s for appearances/consultancy) and leave very little actual profits. They would need to be very specific in their claims (which of course they won't be).

The main concern GL should address is why they aren't working with the estate of Michael Jackson, you know the guy who you are meant to be tributing. When the estate was asked on the day of the first press conf, a spokesman said they had not been contacted and were not involved. Can you imagine Livenation or AEG behaving like this. So you have a concert where it is unclear whether any of MJ's greatest hits that he wrote will be performed, where no images or video of MJ will be shown on the night and where the only MJ merchandising will be JOe Jackson icecream and champagne. The website for the tribute concert has no images of MJ,just an empty throne and the video promo consists of thunder and lightening and a random paparazzi film of MJ leaving what looks like the doctor's surgery. Compare and contrast with the promos for TII and the cirque show, and weep.

The tribute concert is so clearly just another attempt by the Jackson family to bypass the estate to get to the MJ £millions, and the way they use fans as pawns is wrong.

Hope you are right elusive because it hurts me that a fan could be so uninformed about this event, especially after it is detailed in the letters from the estate and the fan organizations. How could anyone think this is a Michael Jackson tribute at all!!! As we said they are adding new names so that the artists' fans will attend. That is why I want them to remove Michael's name from this fiasco, but I guess we do not have any legal grounds to do that.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Don't Michael's children have a trust already that is built upon out of some of the royalties from either the estate deals or Michael's share of the music catalogue or both? If so, why do they need a second trust? I don't understand that.

Am I reading this right? So now a part of the "proceeds" are going to the kids as well? Are they serious?
Why are they acting like the kids are poor? If I needed any more prove that they are using the kids to get money for the family this would be it. Unbelievable.
I have no words any longer for what is going on here.
Everytime I look in this thread they seem to reach a new low.
And the blatant disrespect on the facebook page is just the icing on the cake. Every MJ Fan should see that really.
They really really seem to think we are worth nothing more than the money we have in our pockets. It makes me sick to my stomach.
Unbelievable.
On the plus side like others have said it has brought the fanbase closer again so on that note it has been a success. ;)
I've missed this side of the MJ fanbase. Us sticking together for Michael. We should hold on to this once again.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Kingofpop, these guys presented a piece of paper to Katherine, to make people think that the concert was about charity and his kids. In a statement they claimed that they had pledged the amount, so it seems that actual money was not given as yet. The kids do not need any money from global because Michael took care of his children's financial future. Global already agreed with the family how much each would get from the sales, so the children are just being used to sell tickets.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

First of all, I thought THE SUN went out of business.

In any event, somebody on the Facebook tribute page posted an article from The Sun, titled: "JACKSON FANS CAMPAIGN FOR GIG NO SHOW"

The article talks all about the letter that went out from the various MJ fansites.

And the last sentence of the article says: "Organisers have not revealed how many tickets have been sold."

That dang letter from the fansites certainly got some wonderful air time, I'll say that much!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

In case anyone hasn't seen it, this is how they have been treating fans on facebook: http://i55.tinypic.com/keeog3.jpg

Unprofessional bunch of greedy lowlifes. At this point, I wouldn't go for this concert even if the tickets, accommodation and travel cost came free.

Bah humbug at their confidence. It's all pretence. The tickets aren't damn selling, and that's what this conference call is about. I await that cancellation.

If this is true, the world might end soon because the SUN has printed a pro piece. Good to see the fans rallying against this concert. Of course global cannot tell us how many tickets have been sold--the number is too small, but they have up to the end of September to create more conflict.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I noticed Global Live have another executive commenting on this tribute, Paul King. It could be a misspelling of Paul Ring, latoya's business pal but if not it could be this chap on www.paultking.com (sorry, don't know how to embed websites). Apparently he's in the music business and according to his website his career has been 'a series of spectacular successes and staggering disasters'. No guesses as to which category this tribute is going in. His greatest claim to fame seems to be putting on a Rod stewart show at that globally renowned concert venue, Inverness football club. Tickets seemingly took only 2weeks to sell out.

Global Live really are calling in the big guns!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Sounds like the children are the third charity we were wondering about earlier! Did you also notice how they managed to have a dig at Jermaine as well, I think Global Live is feeling a little hot under the collar.

Re the quote from the fan, yes I agree with you all, but there are a few like him who are excited on the FB page despite all the info that gets posted there... if they are genuine of course

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

HaHa Ha, funny. So I am going to look at that video^^ and then run out and buy tickets to this show? Am I an idiot? Really, these guys do not impress me with their talent in that piece, since I do not know them and never heard about them before this concert. They should sing something so people like me will see if they would get good value for their money.

You have to remember that one of the main rallying cries against the estate by the family is that the estate isn't given the family any money. From the way Toya implied, her mother and Michael's children are barely making enough to get by. Which is why GL is making a show of given the 'poor' kids money as a sign of good faith.

We know this is utter BS along with the media and most of the public. However, the Jacksons are still trying to keep this image up. Also, it make fans looks like selfish jerks for not wanting to support the kids by boycotting this tribute. The family has made it an active plan to make anyone who disagree with them or stand in the way of them making money look like the bad people in the eyes of the public.

But some fans, such as Michael Erskine from Swansea, said they were still keen to see the concert, as it would be "engaging with a lot of youngsters who might not have known Michael Jackson for his talent".

Meaning what exactly?? If not his talent, then what is he implying they know him for? Is this supposed to be a not so subtle insult??

This makes me angry too. So much these days makes me angry...is not good for blood pressure and peace of mind.

And you know what, when this whole sorry thing ends and ends badly, it wouldn't surprise me if we get the blame for not supporting the family in it's attempt to honor 'the maker of Thriller', or for 'sabotaging' their efforts, or some such thing.

You have something there. I missed that one. Of course they are saying kids only know Michael in reference to -----, and we are showing them Michael as an artist. Then explain to me Global how you are doing just that? Please I am waiting to see how you are showcasing Michael's talent to the youngsters!!!

I am with you with the angry emotions. Since Michael died many projects have irked me, but this one takes the cake!!!!

I'm wondering how let's say...selective, they will be in choosing who gets to be apart of the conference call.. :fear:

This is my question also...and when is it suppose to take place?
