MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I wonder what kind of losses they will immediately realize if they DON'T keep going until there is no choice but to cancel.

The 100K to Katherine for the children is probably not refundable.
They probably had to pay a non refundable deposit to the stadium for holding the date.
Their top few artist may have gotten a signing bonus, just for agreeing to participate.
For the Vienna proposed concert, the city or some backer contributed $600,000 euro's for it, but withdrew the monies when it all began to fall apart.

Global may have already incurred debts that if they can just get 50,000 to attend, they'll at least be able to pay their debts.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

It's just appalling to see how even the people who want to go, are missing basic information, and don't even get an answer on the FB page. I can't understand how they can trust those people with their money. smh.

Agreed.

I was also thinking about their "claim" regarding having this tribute broadcast around the world. That certainly had the potential to draw in massive dollars, but I personally, don't see that happening. Not with that line-up and certainly not with Beyonce making some sort of VIDEO appearance.

I mean, do folks want to go to another venue and watch a Beyonce video. I don't know, but to me, that just doesn't sound appealing.

Oh and they can truly forget about Pay-Per-View, unless they find a way to bulk up their line-up.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I agree with everyone who said that they probably won't cancel based on the letter, press, and fan reactions alone. Low ticket sales, however, can force them to cancel. So, it's good that the fan communities are getting the truth about this "tribute" in the press.

I think that Ivy asked this question, but I didn't see an answer. For those of you that registered and received the email for buyng tickets, how long do they give you to purchase those tickets?

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

So tickets go on sale tomorrow... guess we'll have a clue what happens with that thing byt the end of the week..

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

That's what I received yesterday:

Your timeslot to pay for your tickets will open at:
15:00 BST Tue, 23 August 2011
and close at
09:00 BST Wed, 24 August 2011

Anyway, i'm not gonna attend this "tribute", just it was interesting how this system works.

Wow that's a short window, they must know that people who registered are not gonna buy the tickets and want to clear them as soon as possible to sell those tickets regularly.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

My deepest gratitude to all who worked to make this collective effort possible and most of all widely heard. Like Ben said, it was a kick in the back to bring fans together in a unanimous move against greed and profound disrespect.
It was about time.
All those who exploit Michael's name for money, especially the people who carry his name and are supposed to protect it at all costs should be very well aware that the fans are WATCHING and will not tolerate any more despicable attempts to cash in on his memory.

WOW, I'm sitting at my desk, on the 41st Floor of the Met Life Building in New York City and the building just moved. Like a small earthquake move. Freaky!

Okay back on topic.

Wow, at the same time you posted this, someone I have on Facebook from Virginia posted about that too. Sounds like a pretty big one, have to try and find out where the epicenter was. Hope you are ok.

P.S. I just did - on the Michael Forever Tribute Facebook page actually:

I see there is another little potential upset with the charges for tickets....someone who pre-registered for two now only wants to buy one of them, but they have been charged for both charitable donations......
You really have to read the fine print with this concert!

FBQ: I've just gone into purchase one of my two tickets, only 1 as my mate can't come and I've noticed that I'm being charged for the charity donation for the second ticket. Can I please ask why this is the case? This wasn't stated when I registered and therefore I would have only registered for 1 ticket. I'm being charged over £300 for a £200 ticket, my issue is that this should have been made clear. Anyone else have the same problem? Can someone from management or admin answer this query. Thanks.

Answer from another FB member: Its says on the page where you choose which block etc... that if you choose to purchase less tickets than you registered for, it does not affect your pledged amount towards charity!! So if you pledged £10 per ticket you would still pay £10 per ticket registered for even if you bought less tickets.

FB queries are also coming in about where the folks who pre-registered should choose to sit for the best view, from the selection of blocks they have been given. It seems it may not be clear where the stage is going to be?

I think we are a long way from hearing the last of the complaints about the organisation of this concert.

( I hope no-one bought 'golden circle' tickets on pre-reg, hoping to sell them for a profit!!!)

Post on the Facebook tribute page:

"Hi MJ admin, I'm trying to book and pay for the tickets I applied for but keep getting an error message halfway through the process. Can you help me or advise please? Don't want to miss my deadline! Many thanks."

Too funny.

P.S. Now I just refreshed the page and the post seems to be gone.

Jackson concert organizers reach out to unhappy fans

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The organizers of a controversial Michael Jackson Tribute concert said on Tuesday they were going ahead with the event, but they offered disgruntled fans the chance to air their concerns in a global conference call.

"We are 100 percent going ahead. We will continue to announce names for the line-up. We are moving forward and now we will try to address issues that have been raised by fans," Juliette Harris, a spokeswoman for Global Events Live told Reuters.

Harris said members of verified Jackson fan clubs will be invited to take part in a conference call on Tuesday, August 30, in which promoters of the October 8 tribute in Wales will try to allay their concerns.

Some 35 Jackson fans clubs have called for the tribute concert to the "Thriller" singer to be called off, saying it is "doomed to fail." They are unhappy with confusion over charitable donations from ticket revenue, the timing of the concert during the involuntary manslaughter trial in Los Angeles of Jackson's doctor, and the invitation (now withdrawn) to rock band Kiss.

Kiss frontman Gene Simmons has in the past called Jackson a child molester. The pop singer, who died in Los Angeles in June 2009 at age 50, was acquitted of all charges in a 2005 child sex abuse trial.

Attorneys for Jackson's estate have also expressed concerns about the tribute, which is supported by the singer's mother Katherine and several of her children, but not by Jackson brothers Jermaine and Randy Jackson.

Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Smokey Robinson, as well as several British acts will perform Jackson songs along with their own material at the tribute. Beyonce will also beam in a cover version of one Jackson hit by satellite.

Harris said many more performers would be announced shortly. She said she had not seen the open letter from the fan clubs but organizers want to respond in next week's conference call to some of the issues that have surfaced.

Tickets for the show at the 75,000-seat Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, range from 55 pounds to 240 pounds (about $90-$390) and go on general sale on Wednesday.

Voted! Surprise, surprise you can refresh and vote again, people really know how to play us don't they!

They haven't seen the letter. Another lie!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Oh, I hope to receive that call... Do they really want Gaz & I on the same conference? Really?

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

This isn't a tribute concert about Michael for his fans. This is about the fleecing of Michael's fans by his family.

I'll stay home and watch YT videos of MJ instead.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I don't really see how this 'global conference call' will change anything. The date is set, the lineup is still a work in progress, the ticket sales and charity donations can't be changed, nothing can undo the spectacular screwup regarding KISS. Will they say the children won't be required? Will they say they will give all the proceeds to charity? No, of course not. The negative publicity must be getting to them. This is just a PR stunt to give the impression that they are listening to the fans. Too damn little, too damn late. BTW, have they even responded to the letter from the Estate? Maybe they'll be part of the conf. call too! In any case, I don't trust them at all.

I hope someone can record the call...
