I think the fact that Latoya is apparently now driving around in a Roller tells us everything we need to know about this 'tribute'.

Re the 2009 documentary which i think Chris Hunt (?) of GLive produced on MJ. Never saw it but it was commissioned in the UK to coincide with MJ's This is it tour and of course was then shown instead as a tribute in June 09. Apparently members of the family were interviewed so contacts would have been made then between the family and this Uk producer.

I went to TMZ and watched the vid and I could not understand a word LaToya was saying, she spoke so softly.

I'm sure lots registered. That's why nothing is really going to happen as far as moving ahead or cancelling until actual cash is received.

For the memorial, over 1.5 million registered. Of course that was for free admission, but even in that case, they had to filter out duplicates, etc.

Tickets actually go on sale Wednesday. We shall see how much life this thing has.

I have no idea. According to what Sam's post, she seemed to think it had been abandoned. It was probably only aired n the UK.

I confused the first email for the registration confirmation. Needless to say, I didn't even bother to check that first mail until now to clarify things :mello:

If nothing else, this has been exemplary of an amazing and united fan-action, that made it all the way to mainstream media! I think this has accomplished at least TWO things. First, it's a clear and unified statement that fans will no longer tolerate these self-serving money-making schemes by the family, who consistently use "Michael's name, likeness, and image," to line their own pockets. It's a WAKE-UP call.

The second thing this has accomplished might prove to be even more valuable, in the long-run? That is, that the united fan-action in a sense gives PERMISSION to the Executors to go after various of the Jacksons and shut these "endeavors" DOWN. Thus far, the Estate has shown great care about Katherine, we can assume, because she is Michael's MOTHER. They also may have been worried about a fan-reaction if they came down too hard on Katherine? So far, she's had a PASS, even though these money-making schemes are counter to Michael's will, and to the directives of the Estate, that only the Estate can use Michael's "name, likeness, and image," to generate income. THAT income will benefit the children, and the Jackson family's money-making schemes, USING Michael, will likely NOT filter down to the children. I'm sure that their are those managing the Estate who read here, and the message is now clear. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, regardless of family relationships with Michael. The fans are not an automatic source of income for the Jacksons, and that message could not possibly have been any clearer. IMHO, the Executors should now GO FOR IT, and be more aggressive in nipping these schemes in the bud. .. . . and ESPECIALLY, if they involve Michael's children, and are of no benefit to them.

And finally? If this concert has been advertised as a "charity event," and then proves NOT to be a "charity event," is that not FRAUD?

naahh,,it is obvious to me that LaToya feels NO guilt...anyone that can throw her deceased brother under the bus the way she does,,,,she has no conscience imo As long as she reeps her portion of the rewards from this tribute concert she will be happy.

That's depressing, the GL admin are saying the allocation for tickets for those who have registered is to be 'staggered' which suggests that by some miracle the number of people applying has at least reached double figures. I'm really hoping that those registrations won't translate into sales and the whole affair is cancelled, ideally with huge losses for the organisers.

The thought of this third rate tribute concert taking place in some random region of the uk, mainly made up of British talent show winners and attended by MJ's children is humiliating for mj's legacy especially taking place during the trial when interest in mj in the media will be high. It's really disgusting.

You know I disliked when she said that at that time and I still do. At the moment when all people who loved him were grieving irrespective of familial ties, to me, that was an unkind thing to say. As I said before, she does not know the depth of feeling that some non-family members had for that man. All she needed to say was something like "I know you share our grief, thank you for your sympathy, we will miss our brother, etc." Here statement made it seem that the feelings the fans had were not as significant, deep, and true as those of the family and I don't buy that. How many fans knew more about Michael than they did, saw him more, and gave him more love, which is all that man really wanted--to be loved. So that statement right there is meaningless to me.

actions speak louder than words.mj made it pretty clear who he saw as his family.and it was anyone but his blood line

I doubt most of them will become actual sells. We had several members on here that registrar to fool with them or hoping that they would have a better line-up before they had to pay. Also, you have to remember that GL are known for lying or at least stretching the truth. These are the same people who claimed to have 'big name' stars and you see how the line-up look. KISS was pretty much the biggest act they had, which is why the jumped at the chance to have them regardless of whatever Gene said.

No one is willing to pay the kind of cash they're asking to watch a glorified X-Factor and Jackson Variety Show.

Little does Janet know that just because her and Michael shared the same blood..it by NO MEANS ....means that OUR love for Michael was any less important. She probably has an idea what is going on, but she hardly going to let a group of strangers know what is going on in her family life. Micheal remained respectful to his family to the very end and the only person he publicly blasted was Joe. Even then he was quick to apologize and call him a genius. Even when Randy stole from him he didn't name him as one of the thieves and actually attempted to protect.

So, we shouldn't assume the kids are clueless based on what is on a twitter account. We probably won't know what is happening between them and the family until they are well grown.

Michael had millions of fans around the world and I doubt ever last one of them felt the same you most of us do on this forum. Even if we combine all the fan forums together we only cover a small percent of Michael's total fanbase. When Janet spoke those words I am certain she was speaking about as a whole. Namely, most fans saw Michael as an icon, great musician, and performer. They may had fallen in love with his music, but maybe didn't care for as much about the man. I know because several people in my family is like this. There have also been 'fans' who have and continue to hurt Michael, so not all fans love or care about Michael despite what they claim.

With that said, however, several people in his family are no better than some haters. However, it isn't like Janet was going to say that most people in her family are jackasses.

I dont think the kids know either. Or maybe they've heard things and don't want to believe them. If you're that young, and you've just lost the only parent you had, it must be extremely hard to think all, or most, of the people around you are only interested in the money you represent. Especially if they're now the only family you've got.

Like Michael, they were most likely taught by their father to never speak ill of the family. It is better to smile, nod, and keep your distance than to badmouth people in public. Although Michael didn't care about being around his family, you saw he kept the appearance of a happy household despite the BS they put him through. He talked about how much he loved his father despite the fact Joe used and abuse him for his entire life. He loved Randy despite the fact he stole, try to get him to sell his Cat, and then badmouth him to the press.

Also, there is nothing wrong in practice about questioning someone's parenthood. Everyone does it at one point or another. The problem came, however, with the fact that Toya and the other family members give the impression that the kids are happier now that their dad is dead. They may know Toya may not agree with their father, but they may not know to the extent she talked to the press.
