Ok now I have to say I'm p!ssed.
As an MJ single it would have been great.
As an 'MJ featuring Justing Bieber' song it would have been passable.

BUT as a 'Justin Bieber feat. Michael Jackson' song it is a piss take. I was giving the MJ Estate some credit earlier because I thought they were producing an MJ product but I'm now officially angry with the MJ Estate. This song was probably one of the few MJ tracks that he left behind that had hit potential written all over it and they've sold it off to Bieber. :evil:

This song should have been remixed to make it more modern and then released as a 'Michael Jackson single' or as an 'MJ featuring guest artist' single. This is wrong.

If they did want a duet, why would'nt they bring true artists like Timberlake, Usher, Ne-Yo, even Beyonce?

The Estate is complete idiot in my view.

As it appears the site I linked to is NOT JB's official Vevo account I am now going to reserve my frustration and anger until we have more details about this release. Can anybody from MJJC find out from the MJ Estate?

Yeah, you are right it doesn't seem like Bieber's official channel. It's been suspended now.

Justin Bieber has tweeted about Mj about half an hour ago. But it is obviously a real song. You can tell they had access to Mj's acapella and obviously Bieber is singing it.

"Slave 2 the Rhythm" and "Michael Jackson" are trending on Twitter. This is literally the ONLY upside to this entire situation. Truth be told I don't absolutely HATE it, because I never felt that Justin was a bad singer. I just feel that Michael's talent exceeds Justin's by a HUGE margin, and it's actually pretty embarrassing that Justin's voice is paired with Michael's.

Why, estate? You did so good with Bad 25, and then you let this happen.

Yeah. I'm not a fan of any the artists you mentioned but they are like Stevie Wonder compared to Justin Bieber

This is obviously official - Sony and the MJ Estate don't just leave MJ tracks lying in recording studios for people to use as they wish. The fan community shouldn't just dismiss JB being involved completely.
I still think toning this down to a 'MJ feat Bieber' track would be acceptable.

The media seems to be in complete denial about Justin Bieber. Whenever i see them talk about him they act like he's a respected artist who everybody loves when in reality it is the complete opposite. Justin Bieber is a major media darling

As long as it's not the only official version released, so be it.
But when I think about it it's really quite "unfortunate" to replace existing vocals of Michael with Bieber, it's like throwing half of the "holy grail" away really.
I would understand it if they need to complete a song as a duet because MJ only laid down 1 verse and chorus, but please with an artist in MJs league. And release the version MJ left along with it.

Agreed.
When MJ has left a completed vocal for a song there really is no need to replace those vocals by any other artist, especially not to the extent that was done in this track. I would rather they ask a guest to finish tracks where complete vocals do not exist. BUT if they do feel like they need to bring somebody in to create a hit track then MJ should remain the lead artist at least.



I just want to add that this is a leak.
It could be that Bieber recorded ALL the vocals to the song because they producers weren't sure which vocals they would use on the finished version. IT just so happens that this version is predominantly Bieber. Perhaps the plan was always to keep MJ as lead vocalist and release this track as an MJ single. We'll have to wait and see. I hate unofficial leaks because they do have the potential to kill songs before they get off the ground.

I was supportive of the Estate but they slapped me in the face, all of them can go f*ck themselves!

Like I for real deal feel like crying.. Slave to the Rhythm was one of my favorite unreleased tracks, and I was REALLY looking forward to its release. And I was in a good mood yesterday when the new Ghosts footage leaked but now..

Okay, I am really struggling to keep my cool here.

The minute I saw that tweet from Justin Bieber, I seriously lost my appetite. Before that, i hope this was just something unofficial but i obviously is not.

I used to hate on Bieber back in his BABY-era for the many obvious reasons, but as he got older, he got better and I started not giving a jack about him. Not hating.

But now we see this nonsense. First of all, Slave TO The Rhythm is basically finished. Why on earth split the whole song, put in Bieber?

Second of all, "duet album" should NEVER be done. I don't give a shit about what sells and what do not sell. It's about respecting Michael's art. Using this as an excuse to letting Bieber do this is NOT okay.

To everyone who says this is good, and that it might go top on charts, WHO CARES? Is it really worth it to bring in people who has NEVER worked with Michael, who has only had a music career for some years, who is 19 years old to collab with Michael? Not only on a pretty much finished song, but a song that should have been released by now, but hasn't due to the ASSTATE'S horrible decisions.

Where is the dignity?

And to all the increadible LAME comments from the teenage girls on Youtube (yes, most of their avatars are of teenage girls) who keep saying "Justin Bieber was BRAVE to do this" - what? BRAVE? You do realize I can also record and put it out? And you could too?

He was not brave. He was increadible disrespectful. Sadly, he does not realize this and think he is doing something good here. He isn't. He should have stayed away from MJ's art.

"Michael Jackson would be proud" - WHAT? You think Michael would have approved of and be proud a singer who he had never spoken about or worked with to go in and MURDER his own song which was obviously not even intended to be a "duet"?

Most of the comments here sums it up. I'm glad to see that there are still MJ fans who think this is wrong. I have already real life friends telling me about this, laughing who can't believe this. And they don't even care about MJ.

it's all about the number one's and money isnt it john? well if you wanna be like that, we won't support any such project in the future. how can you have the decency of given bieber the right's and calling it his song? all the song needed was to be touched up by rodney jerkins from the original mix in 1998. this has just really annoyed me and i will be distraught for many years to come.......

remember this justabeaver? yeah. 2 hours late. you make me sick.


get some respect and act like an adult.

As far as I know it's an exclusive promotional track, not replacing Tricky's rework, so nothing important (except that Justin Bieber obviously sucks).

If you imagine his family being in charge of his estate, you'd also face this nightmare of a "collaboration": Paris Jackson is friends with Justin Bieber.

So, who cares? I'm going to ignore this version, so will many Michael Jackson fans. It's not meant for us.
