Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Alanna, I had similar experience. My coworker and I had a small talk with our client. We talked about music and Mike. My client started to talk nonsenses. She knew nothing about Mike and was so judgemental. I couldn't really talk back because she's the client. It's very frustrating.

Not to be judgemental myself, I somehow can tell a person's character by the way he/she talks about Mike. The one who acknowledge Michael's talents and contributions to human kind is more compassionate, open-minded and fair.

I can agree with that, because most, if not all of the people that constantly demean me only see MJ as that guy from 2005 and not the kind and talented humanitarian that we know him as.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Jesta may I ask how old you are and where you live? Like, what kinda school is this you go to, a high school or what? Sounds like you gotta try and be a bit more assertive, stand your ground and make it clear to them that you don't give a **** what they think. I went through a similar problem for a year after moving schools when I was younger. This was in the 90's, stuff may be different now but bullies are pretty much all the same, sounds like what these people are.

What you gotta remember is that these kids are probably deeply insecure themselves. That behaviour only comes from people whose lives are empty in many ways. Yours will never be, because you're an MJ fan. :) and he showed us that anything is possible.

The problem is probably that they see you as strange for having something that you're very passionate about when they don't. Not your problem. But perhaps find a way to show them that you're not a one-dimensional character and make them feel stupid for having some misjudged assumptions of who you are.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Thanks, Arklove. I'm extremely sorry to say that I'm used to it, because I get at least one derogatory comment about me and MJ every day. Every day, and yet the other MJ fan at my school doesn't get any bad stuff happen to him, I guess it's because he's friends with those guys. Me, I'm an outsider. I have a small group of friends who like listening to MJ with me, or at least tolerate it while I'm listening to it. I'm always targeted by these people, and I do nothing to them. In fact, they constantly call me "Michael Jackson" and when I don't answer, they call me by my old name. When I don't answer to that, they call me by my current name, and when I do answer, they say "**** off".

I know, it must be hard to ignore them....Just remember: you're the lucky one; you've been able to see through all that media garbage and you have the honour of knowing this man's heart and genius....Let them assholes carry their hate if they want...

Yeah, this girl just said, 'Oh, I've never liked his music..." and I was like, 'How come?' and she says, "Cuz he molests little kids'....It took EVERY ounce of restraint I had not to slap her....How immature, shallow, and judgmental is that attitude? I mean, this is coming from a 27 year old girl, not a 12 year old kid, but might as well be...I had enough after that....I don't need people like that in my life....

The bold part is especially true. Great post!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

@Casey R, I am 16 and I live in the UK. Plus I do go to a High School, I am in my final year. I do try to be assertive and just wave off their insults and tell them to get a life, but they just laugh it off. That's all they do when I stand up for myself, laugh and laugh. You're probably right about the insecure thing, the types of people that mock me are typically ones that think that they've completely grown up and can get away with anything... It doesn't help that the teachers rarely stop them. One thing they always seem to forget is that I'm also passionate about films and video games, though not to the degree that I am about MJ, though I don't see how using those other passions of mine would stop them picking on me.

Thank you for your kind words, Casey :) And thank you for your kind words, Arklove! :)

Sadly I've had that conversation with many people at my school, they don't seem to remember that he was proven not guilty in a court of law!!!! They're so close-minded at my school, it's almost pitiable.

Yeah, I told my boyfriend about what she had said, and he was confused, he said, 'But he was acquitted, why would she say that?'....And, I was like, 'cuz she's a fucking idiot!'.... oh I was LIVID....just LIVID...It bothered me...When she said what she said, I seriously gave her a scathing look, a totally disgusting look, saying, 'You actually BELIEVE that?'....all she could do was shrug her shoulders...she knew I was ready to tear her a new asshole....haha...I'm getting all riled up now!

Yep, practically every day at my school I have to deal with people just smirking and shrugging when I say that he was acquitted, like they don't want to believe that he was an innocent man not capable of harming another. People like that are just close-minded pricks that don't let anything good in, even the truth. I can tell you that if I talked trash about someone they liked, then they would basically push me against the walls over and over again like it was a game of Pong and I was the ball.

In fact, my passion for MJ is why I probably haven't ever had a girlfriend, hardly any girls there like him!

You are welcome. Like I said I do know how it is, a little bit. I'm from the UK too, I must have been like 12 when I had to deal with that kinda stuff too. Anyway, if you're going to a different college for A-levels then you only have to deal with it for a few more months I guess.

I obviously have no idea of what kind of a person you are but sometimes you do find that if you stand up for yourself a bit more aggressively, they'll back off. Probably easier said than done, but just something to bear in mind. Hope it sorts itself out and don't be afraid to let people know if it gets worse.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Yep, with the A-Level subjects I've chosen, I shouldn't have to run into any of those people ever again! I'll keep your advice in mind for tomorrow, hopefully it'll do me some good! I've already let my Head of Year know... In fact I broke down in front of her last week because it all got to me.

@Bumper, Yeah, let's do that! Well, I can't do it in the ones I have controlled assessments in or otherwise I'll get disqualified, but I'll definitely listen to MJ throughout one class where I know I can get away with it!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

...!!!!!!!!!! Bumper, PLEASE let me be in your class!!!! I can't sing (or rap) that well but I can dance!!!

Oh, Jesta, trust me, you'll find a girl who likes MJ and when you do she'll be amazing because she likes Michael Jackson! I've been with my amazing, brilliant, beautiful girlfriend for 6 years and I'm obsessed with Michael Jackson!!! There are some out there. :D

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

:D

I already did MJ's lyrics "MONEY" with my students. I gave them the lyrics and played beats, they rapped. (They're French speakers) :)

I filmed them, take a look.

Bumper, you are such a cool teacher. :punk:

Your students are so lucky. They seem to have so much fun...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Thanks, Aniram! I'll keep on looking. I'm hoping I'll find that special someone in college. :)

Bumper, your class is amazing and I can tell that they respect and like you a lot to do that and be filmed as well! I wish my teachers liked MJ to the point where I could be really creative...

Lol... Jesta, there are many many many girls out there who are obsessed and even drool over MJ. And, those girls will be thrilled to find a boyfriend like you, who share their passions.

I always wondered what it'd be like if Dave (my bf) was just as obsessed with Mike as I am....haha....It'd be awesome! lol

I know... It'll be awesome if your significant other shares the same passion.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Unfortunately, I've yet to find a girl outside of the internet that's as obsessed over MJ that I am, but I still hold hope for the next couple of years! :D There was one that claimed to be, but "Alex/Susie" was just a toxic, compulsive liar...

He will usually sit down and watch him with me, though...But, in that case, I'm usually stuck watching something he wants to watch, and I'm not interested in...But, we always have to strike a deal...lol

You never know. May be you'll find your future girlfriend here.

Arklove got a marriage proposal here not too long ago... Lol... :hysterical:

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Perhaps, but the odds of finding a girl of similar age living in my general area are pretty slim... Though I've defied odds before, like getting into my school! (which may not have been a terribly good choice, but oh well...) So you never know! :D

Really!? From who?

hahaha....from 'HornyforMike'.....We both shared the same passion for Behind the Mask, so he/she :)ninja:) started a thread called, 'Arklove, will you marry me?'...hahaha...I thought it was quite cute...lol...

That's one of the cutest thread ever...

Jesta, in that thread, you see how we girls are crazy about Mike! :ninja:

Aww, that's really sweet! I'll have to look at that thread!

But after "Alex/Susie", I'm not in a terrible rush for a relationship, I don't want to be the fool that gets stepped on time and again for believing a toxic liar... Sigh...

EDIT: That thread is great! I kept on smiling the whole time. It really brightened my day, thank you!!!
