Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Very true. Very similar to how people use words like "icon" and "legend" way too often. When I heard Britney Spears is being called an icon, then the word icon lost its meaning.

Actually, she's some kind of icon too. An icon of the worst generation of "artists" the world has ever seen. Being honest, when I think about how crap the mainstream music is nowadays, her name is the first that comes into my mind! I don't want to be rude, but I can't understant how some people who are MICHAEL JACKSON fans can like her "music" too. I felt ashamed when I saw MJ performing with her on the MSG show, but I undestand his reasons, those weren't easy times. Well, just my thoughts...

But I got what you mean and I agree!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

If I remember correctly, Friedman claimed the kids were being manipulated by Tito's sons...emails were sent from MJ's personal account while they were known to be at school.

Oh yes, one of Roger Friedman's more pathetic claims. Paris couldn't send an email because she was at school. Because, of course, you can't send emails from your mobile phone in this day and age.

I type this while lying in bed, trying to wake up. On my mobile phone.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

I just hought of something. I think I'm gonna print on one of my t-shirts "Michael Jackson is Bruce Lee of music" :)

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

What a collection! Such collection only exists in our dreams. Sony would never release anything like this. Michael was a master of all genre. Sometimes, I feel the word genius is too limiting for him. Word cannot describe his greatness.

I have all those songs and almost all official remixes (except video version of Thriller). Although I am not necessarily fan of trance/dance/techno, there are some absolute beauties in terms of official remixes. If ever you get a chance to find them, listen to the following:

  1. Stranger In Moscow (Hani's Num Radio Mix) - 10:19
  2. Earth Song (Hani's Around The World Experience) 14:47
  3. Blood on the Dance Floor (TM's Switchblade Mix) - (8:39)
  4. History (Tony Moran's HIStory Lesson) - (8:00)
  5. Is It Scary (DJ Greek's Scary Mix) - (7:12)
  6. Jam (Atlanta Techno Dub) - (5:15)
  7. Black Or White (House With Guitar Radio Mix) - 3:53
  8. Beat it (Moby's Sub Mix) -
  9. Don't Stop Till You Get Enough (Roger Underground Club Solution) - 6:22
  10. Rock With You (Masters At Work Remix) - 5:29
  11. Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' (Brothers In Rhythm House Remix) - 7:40
  12. Remember The Time (Teddy Riley 12" Main Mix) - 4:47
  13. In The Closet (The Promise) - 7:28
  14. In The Closet (The Vow) - 4:54
Those were the 90s :) There were many, many more official remixes, but in my opinion the listed above were quite a success in terms of dance/techno/trance tracks.

That's adorable, Arklove!

Y'know, "Little Susie" is incredibly depressing, but it sounds just like classical music, no conventions of pop songs. I haven't listened to it so much in a long time. But, as sad as it is, this song is perfect for my final performance in Drama. We've wanted to do something serious for a while, so we're doing something along the lines of "Silence of the Lambs", with it being that the detective is becoming more fixated in figuring out the criminal locked up that she completely forgets about the murderer at large and she neglects her extremely young sister. This song really gets to you when you'd actually act out the song on stage. Can anyone tell me the exact inspiration for this song? I heard there was a murder in 1978, but I can't find any more details about that. I also heard that he was inspired by a painting.

That song is a true testament to the man's ability to convey emotions, and his vocal abilities.

And I've probably just depressed a lot of people by saying that, so I'm going to switch to something happy... Who remembers the "Moonwalker" video game?

Thanks, Jesta and love is magical :)

According to For the Record - 'one of five songs hand-written by Michael, circa 1979...'

Not sure how true this story is, but check this particular post out:

http://www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3197454&postcount=19

It's all I've really found on the song...It's absolutely beautiful and haunting, and I would LOVE to hear more classical stuff that I know he wanted to do...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Wow, that story is so heartrending. If that story is true, then there is far too much evil in this world. Far too much than I had thought there ever was. I would've also liked to hear more classical pieces, it really shows Michael's timeless quality. Maybe he did compose more, and it's still in the vaults. If such songs exist, the Estate has to release them, anyone can see a genius' work and know it.

No matter what the actual story is behind the song, he brings forth the horrible issue of neglect, and he sings with such emotion, the way his voice wavers...yet another glimpse into his pure, caring heart...

Here is some info about Michael and classical music...what I wouldn't do to hear what he's done! I absolutely love classical music..

Now, I hate myself for not paying attention to all these remixes when they officially released back in the 90's.

I guess the only place where I can find all these remixes is eBay.

I do have HIStory in the Mix. I work out to that remix album a lot.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

I am not a fan of any of the remixes on that album....I don't know why..I like the '2 Bad' one, though...I really can't stand remixes of ballads, making them faster...It just doesn't work! lol

It depends on how you listen to them. The majority of mexises are disappointing (except the ones from the 80s). But the listed I made are in my opinion the best among dozens and dozens of official remixes.

Trt to lie down on the bed, empty your mind, close your eyes and those listed remixes will put you in a trance. You'll have impression to hover above the ground.

Lol... I listen to HIStory in the Mix (except the first five orginal songs) mostly when I work out in a gym. The beat of the remixes helps to move me.

I'd have to have a listen to your remixes, Bumper....There are very few I'm impressed with...lol...

Love is magical, I have worked out to a few from that album, yes....The other day, though, I had Slave looped on repeat for an entire workout :hysterical:

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

I've started bringing my phone to school in order to listen to MJ, and I find that I listen to "Slave To the Rhythm" a lot, also "Behind the Mask" and a couple of other songs that just get me moving. Tomorrow's going to be especially trying because I'm beginning a test, I have compulsory PE Theory with a teacher that verbally broke me down in front of my entire class and I have people that constantly hound me and literally push my about and into walls for being an MJ fan. Sigh... Only a few more months...

Lol... I listened to Slave to the Rhythm like five times in a row once. I felt like the song repeated in my mind for the whole day. It's a shame STRR is not included in MICHAEL. That song is ADDICTIVE.

Bumper, any youtube link to the In the Closet remixes?

School can be a lot of fun, but very tough the same time. Stay strong!!! :better:

Many people just don't know what a great human being and what a genius Michael Jackson was. It's their loss.

It is VERY addictive...And, it's not even the actual music, it's his VOICE...just gets me so pumped..

When I was in grade 7, I was teased quite a bit because I loved Mike so much...Me, and my other girlfriends were all teased because of it....But, we were strong about it! Hahaha...we told them off quite a few times! We were little spitfires when it came to Michael....

You'll get through it....:huggy:

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Thanks :) Your supportive words really mean a lot to me! :D

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

No one ever screws with me re Mike. They talk shit, I say goodbye. Simple as that.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

If only it were that simple for me. If I walk away, they push me into walls or grab me or another student and simulates r*ping them, just to try and undermine me.

Which is exactly what I did last year at a party I had around Christmas....I had mentioned Mike, and one of my 'friends' started talking shit about him....just ignorant bullshit, and it was pretty much over after that....I don't even talk to her anymore...It wasn't just about Michael, it was the judgmental, superficial attitude she had....I had enough of it...I don't need to associate with people like that....

@Jesta, I'm so sorry about that :(

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Thanks, Arklove. I'm extremely sorry to say that I'm used to it, because I get at least one derogatory comment about me and MJ every day. Every day, and yet the other MJ fan at my school doesn't get any bad stuff happen to him, I guess it's because he's friends with those guys. Me, I'm an outsider. I have a small group of friends who like listening to MJ with me, or at least tolerate it while I'm listening to it. I'm always targeted by these people, and I do nothing to them. In fact, they constantly call me "Michael Jackson" and when I don't answer, they call me by my old name. When I don't answer to that, they call me by my current name, and when I do answer, they say "**** off".

Alanna, I had similar experience. My coworker and I had a small talk with our client. We talked about music and Mike. My client started to talk nonsenses. She knew nothing about Mike and was so judgemental. I couldn't really talk back because she's the client. It's very frustrating.

Not to be judgemental myself, I somehow can tell a person's character by the way he/she talks about Mike. The one who acknowledge Michael's talents and contributions to human kind is more compassionate, open-minded and fair.
