Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Well, he was wrong. He wasn't a channel or an instrument. He may have been too modest to say it, but I'm not - he was a fucking genius.

Well being a genius and a channel is not incompatible.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Well alot of people who are regarded as genius' like many classical composers etc all claim to have this sensation of being a channel. But yeah, MJ was incredibly modest as we all know, i think thats great, i'd have loved to have met him, and just had a long chat about creative things, i think he'd have liked that, and for me it'd be the greatest thing ever aha. It's such a shame more people didn't talk to him about his creativity in interviews.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

But callling him a channel is taking some of the credit away from the man himself.

Well being a channel is actually a privilege. Having access to something others don't and spreading it to others and sharing.

I guess it depends on a point of view how we understand the word channel. But for me there is nothing negative or diminishing there. It's a kind of connection spreading love, hope, energy, magic, believing in who you are and in what you do in accordance with love.

God yeah. I've literally dreamt about interviewing. The sort of stuff I'd ask.

Really geeky stuff about the creation of some of the Dangerous songs. About Invincible. About that baseline from Smooth Criminal. TDCAU lyrics & stacato beat. HOW THE FUNK DID HE DO IT?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Imagine what it would be like to explore inside that man's head?

I hear you. You may be right. I suppose in terms of taking what God/nature gave him & spreading it to millions across the world, then yes he did channel it.

And I for one thank him for it.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

You surely wouldn't find Breaking News or Monster :D

No, surely not...lol....

But, think about it....His creative processes...His mind worked as no one else's....

Those four words, to me, sum up Michael Jackson perfectly and succinctly. Bravo.

Let's put it on a T shirt!

It could catch on better than King Of Pop.

he'll be more similar to you than you think, just rediculously talented as well aha, you'd probably be able to relate to him in some ways, in others you'd just have to imagine. Just imagine hanging around in the studio with him watching him create history.

Or any of his albums!

Well, similar in that way yes....But, when he speaks about hearing the entire song in his head...How it all comes together....The ideas, the creativity....This is no ordinary mind we're talking about...lol

But in the studio...WOW...that would be some privilege.

When I was a kid/teen I was always dreaming to hang around with him and appear in a video! Damn Kellie, Sean & Brandon :D

And I think he'd love it too. Did you see his face when he was playing Tabloid Junkie in the clip before the interview he did with LMP? His face lit up when he was explaining the loops & beatboxing.

Talking about music instead all the rumour shite. That's what I want to hear hm talk about.

That's why the Who Is It & Give In To Me parts in Oprah will always be my favourite interview clips ever.

Most off topic pages ever to be written in MJJC :D

Yes, he looked very excited in that part for Tabloid Junkie! I just wish Diane wasn't talking over the first part of his beatboxing, the drums part...! WOW....Just incredible....

I can seriously watch those parts over and over again....Anytime he beatboxes...I also love listening to the Dangerous court deposition...Hearing him explain how he creates a song...THIS is the stuff I hunger for...

Like Martin Bashir interrupting him while he's singing Smile. I mean... you have the greatest artist in the world painting in front of you... you don't take the paintbrush off him! Fools!

They are fools! These are pure moments of genius and he's interrupted? No wonder people aren't aware of his brilliance...Such a shame...I could listen to him create for hours, given the chance...

He did that!? To quote The Spoony One, one of my favourite internet comedians: "YOU FOOL!!!!!!!!"

Why would you interrupt someone who's not only the been established as the best vocalist of the 20th century, but stop him singing such a classic song written by another genius!?

Yes, here...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

^ Things I'd quite happily knock 10 years off my own life span for:

To see MJ singing Smile, Who Is It, Give In To Me live in full.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

^^ Mike unplugged....Intimate setting...Just him....a la 'You Were There'...:dropdead:

Indeed, indeed.

I wrote a full dream set a while ago. How the songs would be structured, things he'd say etc.

I love the larger than life tours he did, but it's the little glimpses I live for. Who Is It on Oprah, other stuff mentioned above, even the '93 Grammy's speech.

It's those rarities that I hunger for....I've mentioned before...I can listen to the Dangerous deposition over and over again, simply to hear him sing the little snippet of Dangerous, Billie Jean, the beatboxing of those songs...How he explains the compositions of his songs...I CRAVE this stuff....lol

If he can connect to his audience the way he did with his larger than life performances with all the effects and what not, imagine what an intimate setting could bring?

He had so much more to give us....His potential was limitless....It really was..

I can't let myself imagine that for fear I may explode.

Sadly, it would never have happened. He was always about bigger & better not stripping things down. I think This Is It was as intimate as it would have got.
