Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

My boyfriend has always liked him. He's not a fan as I am, of course, but he's learned a lot from me about him.

I had him listen to Mike in the new set of Bose headphones that we just got, and after listening to Dirty Diana he said to me, 'WOW, what a fantastic piece of work...' and then he seemed to stare off into space for a second, and then he said, 'I get it...I get it now...I understand why you're so obsessed with him...I really do get it now'.....

He just has that ability to render people speechless..Once they realize..TRULY realize how precious he really was in every way possible.

And the real live version is simply amazing (no lip-synch!):

Quincy Jones once said that you can feel that this song was written straight from the feelings. A song that you don't mess up with. A kind of song that you can neither change nor leave out from the album.

Dirty Diana live is something I can't even describe. There is something deep, and dark about this song. His sexual energy and raw talent in this song just awes me. His whimpers in the beginning of the song just sets the stage of the story he's about to tell. This is possibly my favourite song of his...Any song that brings out that type of emotion - it affects me...viscerally...And, really, Michael is the ONLY one that can do that to me.

Indeed, when we listen so pationately MJ's songs, and when we feel them so deeply, it is difficult to make understand 'believers' why we don't hear or feel Michael on the Cascio tracks. That magic, energy, voice timbre, is completely absent from those tracks, and 'believers' think we are boycotting Michael. How can we make them understand that before all controversy triggered by the Jacksons or I don't know who, we can't feel Michael on those songs? there is no scientific instrument to prove what we feel or hear.

Yeah there's definitely something in that. The kind of ability to 'connect' that Karen Carpenter had. You hear the same thing in Michael's vouce on something like 'Much Too Soon'.

I'm a huge Prince fan. Whenever I try to compare the two, that's the deciding factor - as great as Prince is, he's never reduced me to tears.

Something completely lacking in the Cascio tracks! If Keep Your Head Up was legitimate, I would feel some connection to it. Like 'this is Michael's last recording session' or something. But there's nothing there. Completely empty.

This is so true. It's all completely missing in these songs, for me.

Smile is another one that reduces me to tears, and, of course, makes me smile. Especially when he laughs ever so lightly at the end. I always wait for that, and smile along with him. I mean, anyone can sing Smile, but to bring out the type of emotion that is involved in a song like that...No one can do that like him. Much Too Soon, I agree...same thing...Gone Too Soon live at the President Clintion's inauguration always reduces me to tears as well. I love his performance of 'You Were There' and 'Elizabeth I Love You'....He can bring out emotion with just his presence. It's an ability that few people possess.

This is what this forum should be like all of the time.

It's sad that these Cascio tracks have done this. On the positive side, though, it really hasn't done anything, that I have seen, to take away from the brilliant and powerful person and performer he was. I am very happy to see that.

I hope more people that were close to Michael share their opinions on this.

It seems like, to me so far, we've heard little feedback about the album from actual people that were close to him or, at least, with him those last five to ten years or so.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

this is what this forum WOULD be like all the time if a bunch of losers didn't keep trying to destroy michael's legacy. with false accusations over the years. with family drama. with album controversy and impostors.

when it comes down to the man himself and his beautiful music, there's nothing to debate. we all love him and he loved all of us. michael's a beautiful person, and so are his fans. it's a shame that we can't just enjoy him without worrying about all of the BS that surrounds him at all times. i guess that's the price you pay for being the world's greatest.

at the end of the day, i'm positive you can't find a more loving, accepting, appreciative, BEAUTIFUL group of fans than in a michael jackson forum. and that's thanks to our idol.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Theeee end! Goodnight everyone!

Ha, just kidding.

Looking back on this facebook hack thing a couple weeks ago, I do find it very curious that Jason and his team seemed to remain very quiet up until that point, where they were basically forced to say he isn't on the songs.

It's almost like the hacker may have done it to finally get him to talk.

I wonder what will come of it and if we'll really be kept updated on it.

I'd really like to see some interviews with everyone involved in making this album.

Great posts!

Great pictures!

I love you all. Although we differ in our opinions, we all share one common great love.

I love the man. Love you always, Michael. You are always in my heart.

He truly was an angel walking on earth!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

By the way, has anyone of you bought this special cover edition of Dangerous album in 3-D (not digital 3-D, but physical)?

My daughter has an "unfoldable" "3D" edition. Don't know if there were more differents, but hers is pretty big when you unfold it. When I visit her next time I'm gonna ask her to show me again, it's been a while now. First time I saw it made me AAOOWW, dancing in the round and then smile from ear tot ear! That 3D cover art is an unfolding of wonder after wonder... :)
Oh Michael... YOU are an unfolding of wonder after wonder....

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

I can tell you haven't watched TV for a while, BUMPER SNIPPET, lol, Paris Hilton and Jackass are a bit old now. Today we've got much better stuff like Jersey Shore, the Kardashians and Ke$ha!!!

Hahaa,, it's like me, I rarely watch TV last years, dissappoints me too much. And there's so much you can have a glimpse of or watch entirely on line afterwards, if really needed...
But who knows, maybe better TV days coming :)?

Love it too, so much really. I was "dormant" as a fan for many many years, that's a (sad) private story, so now I am sooo eager to read experiences from the fans who lived it all... I'm so gratefull that Michael has walked our Earth while we live and gave us so much and keeps giving in Spirit. We were/are sooo blessed to "know" and love him.

Love you too Arklove and all fans here

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Ah last night was lovely. Felt much better talking about the man, rather than all the BS. Now I hope people will understand my frustrations a little better. If you believe the songs are legitimate, then you don't see them as being a problem. If you have any doubts, however, then you see a very thick, black cloud on the horizon. And for those of us that doubt them, that's too much for us to contemplate. He meant too much to us to let that happen.

Yes, I got mine on the day of release. It's not signed though.

Have to say, was extremely surprised to see the direction this thread has taken this morning. It was like when Dorothy's house finally landed in Oz after the hurricane.

I'm 38 next week and have been a fan of Michael Jackson for as long as I can remember. I've been lucky enough to see him live 4 times on all 3 solo tours, and his music means more to me than anything. My son has his posters on his walls, owns his own copies of his CDs and copies his dance moves.

Dangerous since it's release, has been my favourite album of all time and everytime I play it in its entirity I marvel at it's greatness. It helped me through some tough times.

No-one will come close to Michael in terms of sheer genius & artistry, I'm sure of that and I feel blessed that I was old enough to experience the heights of his magic.

I totally understand you.

I'm not sure anyone's ever said that to me before!

I guess my personal memories include singing 'Happy Birthday' to him during the Bad concert on his 30th birthday (as part of a crowd of 90,000 - not by myself - I'm not a nutter)

Hanging aroung Radio City Music Hall to see him on the day of the VMAs.

Listening to HIStory disc one with a homeless guy on a Greyhound bus travelling America.

Walking to the Dangerous concert with my Dad.

Soundtrack to my life.

When I was a kid I put a washable tattoo of MJ on my shoulder. I refused to wash my shoulder untill it went away by itself lol.

Yoghurt is back!

My new ROUGH YOGHURT comparison - compares Jason's rough voice and the voice in the Cascio tracks:

Ha! I was at his show at Wembley a couple of days earlier and the crowd sang Happy Birthday to him :) Man... those were great days :)
