Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)
Aww, you guys. :better:
Aww, you guys. :better:
My boyfriend has always liked him. He's not a fan as I am, of course, but he's learned a lot from me about him.
I had him listen to Mike in the new set of Bose headphones that we just got, and after listening to Dirty Diana he said to me, 'WOW, what a fantastic piece of work...' and then he seemed to stare off into space for a second, and then he said, 'I get it...I get it now...I understand why you're so obsessed with him...I really do get it now'.....
He just has that ability to render people speechless..Once they realize..TRULY realize how precious he really was in every way possible.
Aww, you guys. :better:
And the real live version is simply amazing (no lip-synch!):

:huggy:
Dirty Diana live is something I can't even describe. There is something deep, and dark about this song. His sexual energy and raw talent in this song just awes me. His whimpers in the beginning of the song just sets the stage of the story he's about to tell. This is possibly my favourite song of his...Any song that brings out that type of emotion - it affects me...viscerally...

Indeed, when we listen so pationately MJ's songs, and when we feel them so deeply, it is difficult to make understand 'believers' why we don't hear or feel Michael on the Cascio tracks. That magic, energy, voice timbre, is completely absent from those tracks, and 'believers' think we are boycotting Michael. How can we make them understand that before all controversy triggered by the Jacksons or I don't know who, we can't feel Michael on those songs? there is no scientific instrument to prove what we feel or hear.
Yeah there's definitely something in that. The kind of ability to 'connect' that Karen Carpenter had. You hear the same thing in Michael's vouce on something like 'Much Too Soon'.
I'm a huge Prince fan. Whenever I try to compare the two, that's the deciding factor - as great as Prince is, he's never reduced me to tears.
Something completely lacking in the Cascio tracks! If Keep Your Head Up was legitimate, I would feel some connection to it. Like 'this is Michael's last recording session' or something. But there's nothing there. Completely empty.
Great posts, everyone. Love you all!
this is what this forum WOULD be like all the time if a bunch of losers didn't keep trying to destroy michael's legacy. with false accusations over the years. with family drama. with album controversy and impostors.
when it comes down to the man himself and his beautiful music, there's nothing to debate. we all love him and he loved all of us. michael's a beautiful person, and so are his fans. it's a shame that we can't just enjoy him without worrying about all of the BS that surrounds him at all times. i guess that's the price you pay for being the world's greatest.
at the end of the day, i'm positive you can't find a more loving, accepting, appreciative, BEAUTIFUL group of fans than in a michael jackson forum. and that's thanks to our idol.

Quincy Jones once said that you can feel that this song was written straight from the feelings. A song that you don't mess up with. A kind of song that you can neither change nor leave out from the album.
^^
Listen to this version, better than the album version (regarding the instrumental). It's an official remix by R. Kelly:

By the way, has anyone of you bought this special cover edition of Dangerous album in 3-D (not digital 3-D, but physical)?
I can tell you haven't watched TV for a while, BUMPER SNIPPET, lol, Paris Hilton and Jackass are a bit old now. Today we've got much better stuff like Jersey Shore, the Kardashians and Ke$ha!!!
It really was a great day. I loved all the stories and nostalgia! Love ya!!

Yes, I got mine on the day of release. It's not signed though.
Have to say, was extremely surprised to see the direction this thread has taken this morning. It was like when Dorothy's house finally landed in Oz after the hurricane.
I'm 38 next week and have been a fan of Michael Jackson for as long as I can remember. I've been lucky enough to see him live 4 times on all 3 solo tours, and his music means more to me than anything. My son has his posters on his walls, owns his own copies of his CDs and copies his dance moves.
Dangerous since it's release, has been my favourite album of all time and everytime I play it in its entirity I marvel at it's greatness. It helped me through some tough times.
No-one will come close to Michael in terms of sheer genius & artistry, I'm sure of that and I feel blessed that I was old enough to experience the heights of his magic.
I totally understand you.
I'm not sure anyone's ever said that to me before!
I guess my personal memories include singing 'Happy Birthday' to him during the Bad concert on his 30th birthday (as part of a crowd of 90,000 - not by myself - I'm not a nutter)
Hanging aroung Radio City Music Hall to see him on the day of the VMAs.
Listening to HIStory disc one with a homeless guy on a Greyhound bus travelling America.
Walking to the Dangerous concert with my Dad.
Soundtrack to my life.
