Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Err... Yes, that's the reason! This whole time we were cleverly making tiny observations! For some reason, I also vaguely remember seeing "You Rock My World", but no real memory of it. Crazy times, the early 2000s...

@love is magical, the 90s sure were great. The thing is, the people at my school still see MJ as that guy during 2005. For instance, one of my friends said that he looked like a fr*** when he passed, I showed her the iconic "This Is It" picture, and she still said the same, even though in that pic he didn't look like he aged at all from the "Dangerous" era!

For starter, show your friend pictures from the HIStory tour, no girl in her right mind can resisst the sexiness and energy radiated by Michael. Better yet, show her the actual performance.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Thanks love is magical, I will try that, especially for my tribute concert. Though knowing her and the other girls at my school, they'll still say that he looked like a fr*** just to taunt my love of MJ.

Bumper, this remix is really great, beautiful even. To this day, I couldn't stand the album version because of my childhood hatred of it, but this is just on a whole other level!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

I know. I know. We can move this discussion to the manhood thread... lol...

Bumper, Sam and Jesta will not take us seriously anymore if we continue with this topic.

I'm giggling now. Now, when I think about my YANA crush, it was embarassingly sweet and funny.

Oh, yeah, me and my girlfriends at that age, we were quite smitten with Michael...Especially when I saw he had cut his hair! I remember calling my good friend up, didn't even say hello or anything..and I was like, 'HE CUT HIS HAIR!!!!' and she was like 'OOOOOOOH!!!!' hahaha...we were crazy, some of the stuff we'd talk about :ninja:

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Ah, to be a teenager in the 90s... It must've been great! I just hope that I can show people what a beautiful person MJ was without being literally pushed around, or having that being used against me by someone I care deeply for... (I'll never forgive "Alex/Susie" for what she did).

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

I honestly prefer his Thriller to Bad era manhood, but of course I'm not a girl. I rather mean in terms if I had to choose how would I look as a man.

May be the girls will see him differently after your tribute concert. Michael's music is magical.

I can't wait to hear the remix when I get home tonight. Never heard the remix version of YANA before.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Just because we're discussing this, I think he looked best between Dangerous/HIStory. Oh, the sexyness!!! I'm a guy lol :D

Oh, and thanks for the link to the remix, BUMPER SNIPPET, I listened to the whole thing and it was absolutely incredible. Pretty sure I've heard it before, but oh well, I always stop for Michael.

@love is magical, I sincerely hope so, most of them just have such a negative opinion formed from the media. I do try to change their perspectives, but that often leads to more insults. The one who claimed to understand where I was coming from was... Well, "Alex/Susie"... And that was a complete, toxic lie.

Even though I'm a guy, I'd say MJ looked his best during and between the "Bad" era and "Dangerous" era.

I know. I know. I know. Even his hair-cut was like a big deal to us... Silly us... We secretly were jealous of LMP.

1958 to Thriller Era: Cute, boyish, harmless, charming.

BAD Era: Simply gorgeous.

Dangerous/HIStory: Irresisstably sexy. He became weapon of mass destruction.

Invincible forward: There is something special about him being a dad that makes him very appealing. I love mature Mike. Actually, I just love him in every era... lol...

Well, since we're on a little bit of a nostalgia trip, I'll state that my most excitable moments as a fan in my younger years would have to be:

- Staying up late to watch the UK television premiere of "Black Or White" in 1991
- The day HIStory came out in 1995 and I went straight to the store to get it
- Being taken to a large "Virgin Megastore" by my cousin in '95 and discovering that they had imported CD singles from the US, like the "TDCAU" maxi single with remixes and megamixes
- Going to an independent record/CD fair with my cousin (who collects vinyl) and coming back with a whole stack of 7" and 12" J5, Jacksons, and MJ records, including an original 1969 first-issue 7"of "I Want You Back"
-being a fan of 3T and seeing them all over the TV as they were massive here in the UK, then patiently waiting for the premiere of the "Why?" video with Michael..... also saw them live, with Tito on guitar

and of course, the biggest one would be:

- coming home from school one day in early 1997 and opening up the newspaper, only to see that the HIStory tour had been announced and tickets were on sale, excitedly running to my dad and saying "Dad will you PLEASE get us tickets?"... and him saying YES! Saw one of the three Wembley dates and it was everything I could have dreamed of and more :D

I can agree with you on all of this. Thriller video, though.....VERY VERY sexy...He's just beyond sexy in that one. HIStory, I love how he's got more meat on him. And, of course, the gold pants :heat:

And, yes, him as a Daddy....

Bad era though.....Just STUNNING...he was just the most BEAUTIFUL in that era for me...Beyond perfection...Weak in the knees...total weakness for me

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

I wish I was born earlier! The high point of my fandom was seeing "This Is It" the first day it came out in cinemas! Ironically, my friend who was going to see MJ for "This Is It" never went to the cinema to see the movie, he waited to get the DVD. Plus there's the new album, but the controversy has diminished its value compared to "This Is It". Though I guess a good contender for the high point of my fandom will be seeing the "IMMORTAL World Tour", whenever that will be.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Sometimes it really pains me that I never got the chance to see him live. Literally pains me. :(

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

My favourite look is probably Thriller - The AMAs 1984 in particular. He just looks like the greatest thing in the world there. I went to the MJ exhibition at the O2 and stood on front of the red jacket for what felt like hours. Couldn't believd I was in the presence of that jacket.

He also looked sensational when he got off the airplane at Heathrow in 1988. I've got some private pics of him during his trip to Great Ormond Street hospital where he just looked like the most beautiful man on earth. The nurse that took them refused to sell the pics to any newspaper. She said that Michael stayed for hours, talking and singing to one of the sick girls - who had a hole in her neck - and the girl was just smitten.

Which star would do that now?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

Me too. "This Is It" and, based on assumption the "IMMORTAL World Tour" can only be an approximation to the greatness that was him on stage LIVE! Why was I born in the mid-90s!? Why couldn't I have been born in the early-80s!?!?

His look at the AMA's .....Simply stunning. That jacket and the black glove...a black glove! SO cool! I mean, he shone more than the sequins he adorned. No matter what...he shone more brightly. Who else could do that?

Sam, ever since you showed me these pics, I haven't stopped thinking about them, and what he did. He never ceases to amaze me. We have lost an exceptional human being with a heart of gold.

You, Sam and Bumper can proudly tell your children and your children's children that you breathed the same air Michael Jackson breathed. You and the greatest entertainer ever lived were in the same venue at one point in history.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

I know and I understand. It feels my life will never be complete... There is this hole in my heart.... :(

Yes, definitely. To me, it's an essential part of being an MJ fan, and the fact that I never got to experience that...It's hard to accept, you know? :(

I completely understand, it's really painful. It's the natural thing of being a fan, going to see the artist live, but we were robbed of that. Sure, "Thriller - Live" was fantastic, and the "IMMORTAL World Tour" should be amazing, it's not the same. Not even "This Is It" on a big screen is even close to actually seeing him live. I feel so hollow when I think of it...

The thing is, not only Michael, but the whole stuff around:

series such as Alf, the Cosby Show, Max Headroom, Sledge Hammer, Miami Vice, Mr Bean, Jack Killian (Midnight Caller), Star Treck,

Movies such as: Star Wars, Back To The Future, E.T., Poltergeist, Goonies, Beverly Hills Cop, Rambo, Rocky, Terminator,

Break Dance, Hip Hop, Heavy Metal,...
etc. etc.

It was alive! The 80s were magic, and in the middle and on top of that you had MJ the king! He seems so untouchable, so unusual, so incredible, so magical, so powerful, so energetic, so unreal...

The music industry declined when for the first time you could hear DJs making so called music with their bum-bum-bum Pump Up The Jam thang. Techno was born and music lost its value. From then on the singers were not asked to be able to sing, but to look good and that was it.

When you watch TV today it is a catastrophy! a CATASTROPHY and a TRAGEDY! The technology is advanced, we have more channels, but absolutely no ideas! We only have remakes of remakes of remakes, not to mention completely stupid shows such as Loft Story, Temptation Island, American, British, Malaysian, or whatever Idol, Big Brother, Farm celebrity, Paris f****** Hilton (can anyone tell me why is she famous? what did she exactly do? huh?) It has become so, so, so superficial and the youth has unfortunately become so desperate that their main hobby is guess what-- TO SLEEP! A generation of sleepy people with complete lack of creativeness influenced by the tv lame programs.

Look what has MTV become today. Jackass... Jackass!!!??? WTF! Who put them there on TV in the first place!?

I hear you! This era is so unoriginal in their concepts, despite the fact that technology has advanced so much. MJ was definitely the king of the 80s, what you would always think of when you thought of that era, regardless of whether you're a fan or not. In the 80s you had the advent of music videos (thanks to MJ), fantastic TV shows and films, the materialization of video games, specifically Nintendo, and so much more. It's such a significant era in history... and I missed it by several years! If I had a time machine that was an old car, I'd definitely time travel to the 80s. Plus, music is so bland nowadays. Everyone's obsessed with auto-tune so much that there's no real talent anymore and all the songs of the last 10 or so years just blend into each other. MJ never used auto-tune (to the best of my knowledge at least) and that's why he's the king!

That's it. He made it 'cool' to care about your fellow man. Just an incredible force of nature. May God rest his beautiful soul. So loving. But as brave as an army of men. A real hero.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

I can tell you haven't watched TV for a while, BUMPER SNIPPET, lol, Paris Hilton and Jackass are a bit old now. Today we've got much better stuff like Jersey Shore, the Kardashians and Ke$ha!!!

You forgot Jersey Shore - studpidity at its best. Basically, people enjoy watching people being humiliated. MTV is a total catastrophy. Music TV without music.

Gosh... no wonder I miss the good old days so much!

Oh no, they didn't get old, they actually never existed for me. I just had a glimps while changing from channel to channel hoping to find something worthy to watch. But apart from neverending series with exactly the same dialogues all over again and again and movies interrupted 1000 times by the commercials, there is actually nothing.

He was an angel. A miracle. He planted himself in my heart since I was 5 years, and he'll always be there.

He was a messiah that no one recognized.

He gathered more people than anyone else thanks to his universal language which is music and thanks to his energy and love.

He even cured people thanks to his aura which is still present.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Cascio Controversy Thread)

My boyfriend has always liked him. He's not a fan as I am, of course, but he's learned a lot from me about him.

I had him listen to Mike in the new set of Bose headphones that we just got, and after listening to Dirty Diana he said to me, 'WOW, what a fantastic piece of work...' and then he seemed to stare off into space for a second, and then he said, 'I get it...I get it now...I understand why you're so obsessed with him...I really do get it now'.....

He just has that ability to render people speechless..Once they realize..TRULY realize how precious he really was in every way possible.
