Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I think he's mocking you Kapital, because in Human Nature Michael sings "Why, why...".

The lines "I like living this way", "I like loving this way", say's hi.

Irv Gotti?

Hypothetically speaking, say there is no impersonator involved at all, the Cascio tracks are made of some 2007 MJ vocal snippets, some "legit" background vocalists and a lot of Michael's prior works. Can you accept the song as legitimate Michael Jackson songs?

With advancement in tecnology these days, it seems melodyne can do a lot to improve and alter vocals, say someone writes a new song for Michael Jackson. Some producers go through the MJ archive and pick the words needed for the new song and paste all these words sung by Michael together, melodyne this tape of pasted parts, autotune it and process it. Do you think it's okay?

It's what they do to deceased artists, it's common among posthumous releases.

Michael never sung those songs. It´s not his voice in the Cascio´s tracks.

It´s so much different than the rest of the tracks of his life and it´s identical to the Jason dude.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

@Love, despite how much I love these songs, I do agree that these songs aren't ethical to release. While I think that they used quite a bit of MJ 2007 vocals, roughly 50/50 to re-used lines/prior work, these songs shouldn't have been released in the state that MJ left them... Except maybe in like a bonus thing where it's just a jam session that he had and he was trying out harmonies. If you get what I mean, it would be like a fly-on-the-wall track.

Regardless, creating songs from scratch would be the biggest blow to MJ's art that I could possibly imagine. These songs are dangerously close to that boundary: they haven't crossed it, but are pretty close.

@Kapital, she was speaking of a hypothetical situation. If you dismiss even that, is it really possible to debate?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

The biggest problem I have is with them not being more open in talking about this whole controversy and putting it to rest for the fans. This has gone on too long, it's complete bullshit.

I made up the scenario. I want to know what people really feel. Let's assume there is no impersonator and the songs are MASSIVE copy and paste works. Do people find it okay?

Some fans (not saying anyone here) want "new" songs from MJ so desperately that they don't care how the songs are being created. They want new albums and new singles. Some can live with the fact that Michael had actually very little (or nothing) to do with all these releases that we have now.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I'm surprised that those who are in contact with the Estate on here haven't seemed to contact them to clear this up once and for all.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I love Hollywood Tonight. And Best Of Joy has made a huge impact on my life. Behind The Mask and even Breaking News have had huge impacts on my life. This whole experience has been wonderful with all the new Michael Jackson music coming out like Slave To The Rhythm and Stay and Do You Know Where Your Children Are.

If it weren't for this controversy several of us may never have met, so there are good things that have come out of this.

However I do agree that they need to be more open with us about it, they need to prove to us that they are honoring his legacy. They need to let the fans into some of the reworking process. In my opinion they really needed to explain these things more! How hard is it to take 20 minutes to break down some of this stuff for us, you know? Really, come on!

I´m looking for a song with "way" from the 70 or 80.

It´s a young "Way".

"Why, why, does he do me that WAY".

Fail.

Of course, Kapital is an English speaker and Worldwide innocently chose the example of Human Nature. Nevermind. I retract what I said.

Really? Enlighten me here please. It's common to go back to the deceased artist catalogue, find the words they need, find the breathing sound they need, find the ad libs they need. Then, paste all these fractions together and melodyne the tape and fabricate a new song?

Can you give me some example? Which posthumous release is similar in nature?

Not Hollywood Tonight, Best of Joy type of posthumous release. But, Breaking News type of posthumous release.

Finally, do you think it's okay?

2Pac - Loyal To The Game (2005) .

Bumper, there were 2 songs that have Michael singing way at the end , In Our Small Way and Human Nature. I never suggested the first song as Michael's voice is too young there.

Hilarious!

I based my assumption on your previous posts, but, as I said it, I retracted what I said.

Yeah I know, no probs Bumper. All cool.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

LOL, i don't know that i 100% agree with this "way" theory (I tend to lean more towards what pentum said, that it's just malachi in another take, cut/pasted) BUT if you are looking for MJ saying "way" in an old track, don't forget to listen to all the times he sings "away" and "always" or "anyway". that could take a while

ya, that's kind of why i'm skeptical. Like pretend you're sony or the cascios. How would they do this? they have a song, "keep your head up" that they have an impersonator (presumably, malachi) sing. Suddenly, one of them is like "Hey! you know what? the word "way" is in this song, i'm sure michael actually sang "way" a million times, let's go back in the archives and find one that will fit!"

is that feasible? i don't know a lot about audio mixing, but it seems like kind of stretch, logically. and why didn't they do that with like . . . every common word. i'm sure michael has sang the words "your" and "the" and "love" and "girl" a million times in the past.

I'm sure someone must possess audiofiles tagged: "MJ-WAY/part1/80s", "MJ-WAY/part2/90s" and "MJ-WAY/part3/00s"
