Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

If you have to try to hear Michael, then something is wrong.

You should not have to think it is Michael.

You know if it is Michael, when you hear Michael.

You don't speak when your mouth is full.

Sorry master :ninja:

Exactly.

Exactly what we have been experiencing for years when a single note was sung by Michael. I am saying, this Cascio affair is a serious precedent with a trmendous lack of serious proof.

Absolutely. We all agree these tiny snippets of leaks are him, so why can't people admit he's not on the Cascio tracks?

Exactly...and we hear, what...7 words? and it's obvious it's him..

We hear 7 seconds of music and ONLY 2 seconds of MJ's voice! 2!

There is no controversy no doubt that this is MJ's voice even though the audio is not in the best quality!

Even the 7 sec snippet of 'Don't Be Messin' Around'...You can hear him just sort of mumbling in a falsetto....You can barely hear him...yet it's unmistakably him...His voice is just that unique and recognizable....One of the most recognizable voices in the world...

The snippet available ends with Michael's typical instrumental/vocal "chaahhh!", something completely absent from the Cascio songs.

Yes! Exactly...That part...It's like almost nonexistent but instantly recognizable...and something you hear all the time when he sings...It's his natural voice print..as you've described before...It's an instant 'That's Michael Jackson'...no doubt about it...

Yes, all of his fast songs have this persisiting drums/percussion regular tempo, just like the heartbeat. It is not disturbing as it is stewed into the melody, but when you pay attention only to the percussion or drums, it is extremely simple, as it is always at same intervals. Added to this MJ always pours some "chaah" or other breath sounds or breath-like sounds. One of the most famous is the following:

Listen to how many "chaahs" he uses here. It is a demo though. This is how Michael works.

Absolutely...A complete master vocalist...No matter what I try to hear on the Cascio tracks...This voice print, this uniqueness to his voice....ALL of that is absent...ALL of it...

Even a slow song with a poor audio quality, you instantly recognize the voiceprint:

I love this....Yes, poor quality....Yet, my heart sores when I hear that voice....It brings so much joy...that vibrato, too....sweet, smooth....

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

There aren't any "Chaah's" in Invincible, none that I heard anyway. Most of this is being based off of songs from the mid-late 80's. There's no "chaah's" on HT, other than when he's beatboxing. But what these tracks do have in common are "ah's", "d'ap", and other breath-like noises. Those breath-like noises are pretty much nonexistent on Monster, which reinforces the statements that it may have initially been a slower song, these breath-like noises are heard all throughout Breaking News, whether they're copy and pasted, or did by someone else, you can't deny they aren't there.

So, I'm not sure what relevance the absence of "chaah's" hold here.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

and that's actually my point. Even though those artists and albums didn't have any of the vocals debate that we have here, they were still criticized , protested, complained about.

and that's why refer as the reality of posthumous release. Sony would have known that for one reason or another a group of hardcore fans wouldn't be happy with the album and the vocals debate and effect of this debate might not be really that significant for them.

I totally agree that the ongoing debate that we are participating now is insignificant to Sony. Because the album sells well enough. More than two million copies worldwide with minimal overhead costs. Who else can sell this much? Some of us are strongly against the Cascios songs. But, you know what? We bought the album. I bought two copies. I just counldn't help it.

Criticizing the album for messing up the work of Michael is one thing. Even Thriller cannot satisfy all fans. But, allowing the songs with controversial vocals to be included is beyond any fan's nightmare. I don't think songs with controversial vocals is characteristic of posthumous release at all.

When Free As A Bird was released, did Lennon's fan say, "Is that John's voice?"

Before the album's release, we talked about how we were afraid the producers would mess up Michael's vocals by autotuning and alternating Michael's intention. The Cascio tracks, real or fake, are worse than autotune. They are indeed over-processed to death to a point that the vocals sound more close to an impersonater than the greatest entertainer ever lived.

Yes, fans will always criticize. Some fans criticize OTW, Thriller, BAD, Dangerous, HIStory and Invincible. It doesn't mean Sony is right to include sub par material just becasue fans always criticize.

Sony is destroying fans' goodwill here. I bought two copies of Michael. But, if they include songs with questionable vocals in the next album. I don't think I'll support the album. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Be it "chaah's" or "ah's" or "dap's", we all recongize Michael's habits, like the finger snaps and the claps... We can't hear any one of Michael's habit in the Cascio tracks.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Hope everyone's having a good one!

I also love that video. Michael was truly one of a kind. Such a magical soul, very precious!

I wonder what people think about the sound clip I posted above. I'd be interested if someone could find comparisons of Jason Malachi making those same sounds? Because those are obviously a part of the original acapella, not copy-and-paste jobs. Please let me know what you think!

And also check the 1:25 of One More Chance. "Help me make these mysterrries unfold..."

What is the sound Michael makes during "Mysteries"? Is it his voice shaking, a messup in the recording, what is it? And why wasn't it perfected by him? To me it has always sounded kind of awkward.

You guys who bought the album and don't like it should have called Sony support or client service and asked them if they could exchange your “Michael” record because it must be defect since you can’t recognize Michael Jackson’s voice. Imagine thousands of people calling there... That would have been funny...

(Sorry, but I had to learn that laughing about it is better for your health than going and slapping each and every one of the responsible people for that Cascio album...)

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

^ Exactly. Would Michael want his fans to be disturbed and saddened and worried? No, he would want his fans to be enjoying his legacy and being happy and loving each other.

I will never bought that awfull album with those fake tracks.

It´s a total disrespectful to the MJ music Legacy.

You are paying to hear Jason Malachi singing in those Cascio´s tracks.

Michael must be very sad with the amount of albums that Sony & Estate sold worldwide.

Well, actually I believe he would have wanted us to fight against this album, this exploitation, lying and f*cking around with the emotions of the fans by Sony...
Because in my opinion, he would have never ever approved this album to be released...

But you know I feel like I did everything I could...I didn't buy the album and I wrote $ony to tell them exactly why I didn't...I get angry over this whole thing so often...I just find it so sad that the estate that should care for the actual man made this shame possible...Just how I feel...no disrespect to anyone...

Of course he wouldn't want his fans to be saddened. But, the Estate does not have fans' feelings on top of the priority list.

:clapping: Sadly, this is the reality...Michael was a perfectionist...He wouldn't accept this album and the way it's been handled..Why should I then? It's not easy to get past what's happened...I'll never, ever forget this..

I've always maintained...This isn't about me as a fan...This is about Michael and the treatment of his legacy and everything he's worked for his entire life...I don't care if I never hear another unreleased song of his again...If they can't do it right and with dignity and respect...don't do it at all...
