Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Damn, a lot has happened since I've been at soul-crushing school, with people outside of my class treating me as a slave and trying to make me dance and sing for them, while making offensive comments about MJ.

This is off-topic, but what happened??

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I have to ask, have any of you actually had your school/work disrupted by MJ haters, as in deliberately and purposefully stopping you from working just to make you feel bad? An hour of precious time working for my GCSE wasted by these people because my group started leaving afterward, and I stuck around to try and make use of the time.

Either you go and speak to your teacher or to your principal about the troubles or you solve them out by yourself. For this latter you must have strong confidence in yourself and not ever show anyone that you've been affected by anyone's attacks.

In other words, don't consider yourself as a victim, ignore them and look for friends somewhere else. The best thing for the starters is to stop talking about MJ to anyone in your direct environment (except here), and they'll think that your fandom has faded out. They'll immediately stop teasing you as there won't be any grounds any more.

After that cool-off period of not talking about MJ, you'll be more accessible ("more like others"), and you'll have less difficulties to find friends. You know, if you want to have friends, you also must be a friend. And maybe the fact that you feel that you are misunderstood by others is due to the fact that they don't feel like listening about MJ, but about yourself. You can't blame them for that, as you probably wouldn't be listening all the time to people talking about Justin Bieber.

What about elephants?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

When I look at the Mona Lisa, I see a masterpiece. Why? Because those who know about art agree that it is a masterpiece. I know nothing about art but I still see a masterpiece.

Music is only subjective to a point. Billie Jean may not be to someone's particular taste in music, but they would still agree it was a work of genius.

It is a fact that some of Michael's songs are much better than others. Nobody is infallible. You may not like Bob Dylan's voice or style of music, but nobody can deny that he is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. And anyone who has an expert knowledge of music would agree. But even he has released some crap over the years.

What makes Michael a genius is the fact that SO many ideas flow out of him. Not the fact that they're all great. Because they're not.

And not to get into another Invincible argument, but great vocals do not a great song make.

May I also add the following?

What makes Michael a genius is the fact that so many ideas flow out of him AND he's able to materialize the ideas, develop them and polish them and create something truly amazing from his ideas.

As for what make a song great, different people have different standards. But, a song with great vocals cannot be crap.

I don't listen to any other artist the way I listen to Michael. I don't claim to know every song by Stevie, Dylan, Springsteen, the Beatles. I do know every song released officially by Michael. He doesn't have any song with bad vocals.

I don't know if you are a believer or a doubter. I don't know if I understand correctly what you meant by this question. But if you are trying to refer to this line from Earth Song as something mediocre, then my friend I suggest you to document yourself what is going on with the elephants before you suggest anything further which could make you look heavily uninformed.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

5. As you are a non MJ-fan based upon the fact that you just admitted that MJ had written a lot of mediocre songs, you don't know MJ's voice that good, thus you've been fooled by an impostor.

Yes, that's just flawless logic...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Kreen, I am now listening to 'Be Not Always' and I'm dedicating it to you! ;)

I was referring to the adlib at the end of the leaked version of Keep Your Head Up.

WHAT ABOUT ELEPHANTS?

I swear, I've never laughed so hard at the inappropriateness, what are they going to do next? Cut in Annie Are You OK adlibs into a love ballad?

Wow.

Similar to yours. Didn't I introduce the subject by offering a cheap logic?

Ok, now I understand what you meant. Exactly! "What about elephants" line had nothing to do with "Keep Your Head Up", absolutely nothing. I think I still have that leaked version. I even forgot it existed.

Thanks, Bumper. I try not to talk about MJ that much in school, in fact I rarely talk about him to people that don't like him. It's the fact that I supposedly look like him is why people single me out. I do plan to talk to my teachers about it when I return after the weekend because there's no point talking to them, they don't listen and just insult. For the first 5 minutes, I definitely made it look like they weren't affecting me. It was only when I walked out was when I showed "weakness", if cooling off is considered weak. But they were asking such inappropriate and personal questions about him such as the colour of certain appendages, thinking I would know! I just wish I could leave sooner than I can, even prefects are singling me out by sending people to tell me derogatory things about MJ! I can definitely cope when people make passing comments, but when they follow me into the class and disrupt my learning, that's when I draw the line!

I'm going to start using it as my standard response to everything;

Have you done your homework?

What about elephants?

What time will you be back?

What about elephants?

Who ate all the pie?

What about elephants?

:D

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I must admit that I have been completely wrong about those Cascio tracks. I finally recognize Michael in them! They are great! How stupid the doubters are. ;)

Thanks, but you seem to have forgotten that you yourself were a doubter once!

Talk to your parents, write down the names of all the people who are bullying you (except mine lol) and ask your parents to ask the teachers to see their parents. Usually they calm down when their parents are informed about their children's misbehavior at school.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Here's the problem, I don't know their names. Granted, the people that saw their behaviour towards me most likely do. Besides, I somehow doubt that their parents being aware of their behaviour will change it, they're at the age in which they don't care.

Besides, I hope what happened is water under the bridge between us?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Have you tried the look-at-them-and-smile-then-walk-away?

Oh well... anything has everything to do with KYHU... Remember the woman who tried to find a place to stay while working two jobs... then, she's looking for a better job, then the lifes of trees and birds are killed up, then someone sucks up some air from underneath, then someone is looking for love...

So, if trees and birds find a place in HYHU, the elephants can surely be squeezed into the song.:tease:

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Yeah I have, Pentum. I even tried it today, causing them to laugh and follow me into my rehearsal space.

Between us yes, and you know it. I jokingly mentioned it, as I was labeled as such (not by you, so don't think it was addressed to you :cheeky:)

Well, tell them calmly to leave you alone, you have other fish to fry.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

OK, thank you :)
The funny thing is that these kids actually skipped their lessons just to try and tease me; jeopardizing their own learning to try and annoy me...

are the teachers in your school aware of the bullying?

you are going to a new school in a few months, right?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Yeah, the school are aware that I'm constantly being singled out by people, even students with authority, just because I'm an MJ fan and somehow look like him. And yes, in about 3 months, I'll be having my summer holiday and then going to a Sixth Form college.

Hang in there, Jesta, you'll get through it....I remember I couldn't wait to finish grade 7 because I was teased quite a bit about being an MJ fan..and this was in '95, so the allegations were still fairly fresh....I know how you feel :huggy: Just remember: This too shall pass.

and, Bumper, don't go changing my post :nono:

oh... you look like MJ!!!! :wild::wub:

I think the situation may improve if you don't talk about MJ or dress like him at all in the next few months, as it will minimize the chance of being picked. We cannot change how people behave. You need to do what is the best for you.

Report the students who follow you and skip their own classes.

Stay calm and think about how things will get better in a few months.

I have been out of school for a long long time (yeah... i'm an old lady.) So, I don't remember much of what it's like to be in a school environment and don't have much advice to offer.

At work, I don't talk about MJ at all. I think my co-workers know I love MJ as they know I listen to him a lot and go to this forum a lot. But, no one in my office cares (except my boss, I guess. Just can't let him know I surf the net too much.)

Just remember, things do get better. People grow up and gain wisdom.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Thanks :) I really can't wait to leave now, though I wish I could just withstand abuse like people walking into your classroom just to tease you and not let it bother me. But when they're demanding that I sing and dance for them and won't let me leave, that's incredibly disruptive. 3 more months, roughly and I can't wait!

You really think I look like MJ, love? You are one of the few people to see a clear picture of me, after all. I actually don't dress like him (unless you count me wearing a red shirt dressing like him).

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Sony have effectively killed any excitement or hope I had for future releases. I don't care about videos, Making Ofs, or new albums where all songs will most likely be mutilated beyond recognition or have Jason Malachi singing them. The only reason I'm hanging around now is untampered leaks.

Well done Sony. Give yourselves a big pat on the back.

You do have Michael's slender body frame. The red shirt and black pants are very Michaelish...

I don't think your face resemble Michael that much, to be honest. But, I do see Michael in you in your rehearsal...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Yeah, I was mostly thinking about my face when referring to that. Thanks for the compliment about the body frame, though! I actually plan to release a more recent rehearsal video soon, probably by the end of next week.

I was more excited when DYKWYCA, BG and STTR were leaked. I don't care much about the videos or the making of's. The filmmakers and producers may have put in all their hearts and souls. Still, the videos don't do much to me at all. I appreciate the efforts, but don't like the end results. As for the videos being marketing tools, I don't think they are effective either.

I don't feel excited any more. I remember I was counting days around this time last year, so looked forward to the new album... I've learned my lesson... The higher the expectation, the bigger the disappointment...
