Michael Jackson's Vision' DVD Boxed Set Available Everywhere Monday November 22

I am VERY, VERY, VERY excited about this!!

The only thing I would possibly add on the 3rd disc, as many have said, is We Are the World, the TDCAU video from This Is It, and the This Is It video by Spike Lee or the one that features clips from the movie.

It would really be a full retrospective to have the last clips of Michael Jackson performing on the DVD, but I am perfectly happy and content with what is being offered and I can't wait to have it.

Well, the press release says "videos produced by MJ"...wouldn't be fair to add TII by Spike Lee in there...would it?

I dont have the time to go through 28 pages, so can someone please tell me if this is the supposed new album that was being talked about?

no, it's the dvd box set that contains Michael's short films.

they spelled moscow WRONG :coffee:

yeah, can you believe it?? I was really upset to see that! I hope they will get it right on the actual box and the booklet!

In the press release or on the actual box set?

If it's the press release, it might just be a typo. Happens all the time.

OT Funny. I was looking at my Ultimate Collection's booklet last night and...oh my....lots of typos and errors (On the line written by Michael Jackson????). I hope they are extra careful this time around.

Doesn't matter if it's not known at all imo... But I gues since it's not produced by Michael.

I think we all agree that they should do something more on disc 3.

And they can, it's not too late. We should mail Sony about this.

Yeah. disc 1 and 2 are around 2 hours each - disc 3 - 35 minutes ??? - WTF !!

That is plain dumb (not from a buisness angle I know) they could add som much more on disc 3. Make it a 6 hours box, not 4 ½ !

I am very disappointed in disc 3.

But all around very happy with the release. Have already ordered multiple copies.

There is another big shame in this DVD set according to me and people who care about the respect of MJ's art: the duration of Smooth Criminal is 9'27, wich means it will be the same version as the HIStory On Film DVD. I think you all know it is an edited version of the video. There is 1 full minute missing if you compare it with the Moonwalker version. They censored 1 minute in the interlude segment of the video.

I think it is unacceptable that we don't have the full version of Smooth Criminal, especially because this DVD set is going to become the main reference concerning Michael Jackson's videos in the future. Smooth Criminal may be the video Michael was most proud of.

Who knows how to contact Sony USA to tell them about this big mistake? (I'm sure they don't even know it's not the right version of the video). I think this is important.

Anybody cares about that?

Smooth Criminal is NOT in its full lenght version!

But I thought that the slightly edited version was the "long" MTV Version with an additional scene at the end of the woman fanning herself.

If this is the MTV Version then I think it's okay, and the fuller version belongs to Moonwalker which should have its own DVD/Bluray.

Are you sure about that?

Even if it was done for MTV (wich I don't know), I don't think it's normal that a full minute has been taken away from this beautiful short film.

lol. this package is fun. there is a lot missing... so much
after a first view...

history that one could have been included, it's cool video
whatzupwitu like been said, eddies song, thats matter of copyrights. say say was number one hit
torture sorry that lame video with the dolls and no Michael, what for?
body same as above
What more can i give too many artists in it, rights matter
We are the World same as above
2300 Jackson Street well, hmmm
i want you back that could have been in too
who's lovin' you same as above

retro:
This is it well what for?
wanna be startin' somethin' 2008 are you serious, lame song and laaame video
unbreakable it's never been comfirmed that there was video done. Only rumours. I think no video was ever shooted.
butterflies same as above. only retro spectral, what for?
cheater same as above
one more chance

it would also be better to include the alternate versions of:
give in to me the 'official' dangerous dvd version is better I think
gone too soon
blood on the dance floor well dumb asses. who needs that stupid remix
scream (directors cut)
will you be there
who is it

jacksons/jackson 5:
keep on dancing
good times
Even though you're gone
Dreamer
Goin' Places

(but most of them are something like performances and there are for sure copyrights needed, they don't have)

and the official megamix videos:
tony moran megamix
HIStory MJ Megaremix yes this one could habe been in

and important, cause people talking about they will get the "full" version of you rock my world. no, you don't!
the full version is 13:48. its 18 sec. longer. and have some different footage included. only shown on mtv/vh1.
I think any 13min version will be good. the differences are stupid talking between Michael and Chris, and something in the ending dancebreak, plus the rest is mostly end credits. mostly noting importand

i wonder if one more chance is really the real deal? and if all videos are in 5.1. i think only stereo. ^^
after the previous dvds 5.1 upmix disaster, please no.

thanks sony for this ^^
If only colour corection is done, well thats really not easy to make.
the transfers for visionary and number ones were not bad, so probably they thougt no need for new ones for a dvd.
when they decide to release blu-ray one day, they should really sit on their asses and do it right.

Yeah, in the EU its (only) €30, I woudlnt expect such a price, its really cheap.
That is really cheap! TUC was something like 70e. If it's really that cheap I might as well buy it.

That's weird... It's disappeared from Amazon.co.uk
Oh well. HMV it is then.

Not even widescreen is it?

Nobody cares about Smooth Criminal? Don't you guys think it deserves to be in full lengh version?

Dude, it's not an important thing. They cut out a segment that simply ran for too long. Yes, it should have been included but I'm not bothered by the edited version one bit. We still get to see MJ's vision there too you know.

You can't be serious. You can't delete 1 full minute from a movie and say it's not important. Even if you don't like the scene, it is part of the original movie. You can't say you think it is too long, then cut it off, and claim it's still Michael's vision. This is nonsense. Is there other videos that you would like to edit? Man this is absurd; you don't have respect for Michael's vision. This is the short film he was most proud of.

But aren't the Moonwalker and History on Film versions different edits? The later even has this bit with the beautiful lady in the end...
I think these are the only differences between these two versions: the interlude has been half reduced (1 minute instead of 2), and the woman stays longer on the screen at the end. Can you see other differences?

HOOOOOOLD UP! Argue my arguments but don't act like you know me inside out, keep the accusations to yourself and don't repeat that mistake again. I have deep respect for MJ's vision. And I really don't appreciate it when people start attacking me rather than my argument.

And no, I'm not bothered by this at all. MJ didn't say anything when they cut it out in HIStory 2 so why would I be bothered?

Mike didn't say too much either publicly when Sony released the Blood On The Dancefloor album, although we know he hated remixes.
The fact is that the original version of Smooth Criminal, the one Michael created, has not been respected for some commercial reasons, and I think this is important to condamn. Fans should feel concerned about it instead of saying stuff like "that's not important, it was too long anyway..."

Sheesh, one minute is like life and death to some of you. Relax...
I won't die if I see MJ's art disrespected. I just feel concerned about it and I think that one minute on a ten minutes movie is important.

There is a difference between cutting out and editing an entire piece. I would have agreed with you if it was using the "short version" like they did with Ghosts. But that one minute really doesn't do anything, We already get the mood he was trying to set. I just don 't see any problem.

You get the EXACT same experience from both of those videos.

From what I understand there where 4 versions of Smooth Criminal.
The original Moonwalker version, The slighty shorter short film shown on MTV, A shorter (to the point version) and the short (blurred motion) edit.

The extended version belongs on Moonwalker, the version on Vision should be the MTV version as that was the "Short Film" version. The longer version belongs on MoonWalker.

If the videos weren't filmed in a widescreen format, there's nothing they can do about that.
Anything before Thriller? Yeh, Probably not, Everything after? Probably was. I know most if not all his videos were shot on 35mm film, Smooth Criminal, as we know, is widescreen as was Thriller and probably Ghosts. In fact I have no doubt that most of them were filmed in widescreen and I think not releasing them is unacceptable.

full length interms of what? what part is missing?

What about "This Is It" (directed by Spike Lee)
maybe i missed that but what video was that?
