Michael Jackson's Vision' DVD Boxed Set Available Everywhere Monday November 22

Exactly, this is what I've been saying for a long time now, everyone has seen Thriller or Black or White etc videos, but hardly anyone has seen Michael perform live in front of a crowd, I showed my son who is 8 years old Bille Jean performance from Dangerous concert and he was amazed and transfixed, I think to put Michael into the next era, generate new fans they have to see Michael perform live, that is where the magic is, not these video's we've seen time and time again. This box set is for the fans, a beautiful keep sake, to be treasured.

This I agree, though. While I think this box is a pretty awesome release, I agree that we *also* should have a new live release. I know quite a few people that started enjoying MJ and were in awe after watching the "Live in Bucharest" DVD.

Bad Tour. Now. Make it happen, Estate!
And just for... *ahem* "convenience", it should be in a package with shows from the Victory, Dangerous and HIStory tours (and, of course, in a great price like this box - after all it should be aimed at everyone, from the "casual guy" to the "hardcore fan"). Now that would be an exciting release for anyone/everyone... I guess. People just enjoy to complain every single time. "But I already have all those concerts in amateur-ish awful quality!!! ZOMG SONY SUCKS"

 I'm waiting for the pre-ordering on Amazon France, they don't have it yet - About the price I think it's highly strategic, if they want to reach the fans who have emerged since 2009 - it's for their best interest to sell the boxset at the lower price, so they could reach them again for the next album and all the stuff they will release during next years - Surely we, as "old fans", can be disappointed by this that we already saw so much times, but personnally I'm really glad that people can discover or rediscover this so amazing artist - That will be my enjoy.

However, I will get it :cheeky: !!

im sure they will be releasing concerts in the future presuming theres no rights issues etc. but to think they wouldnt be releaing his videos again as a part of the deal is abit daft. especially when there isnt a definitive collection out there. just random G.Hts.they have to work with whats left and this is pretty much it interms of videos. a huge part of mjs legacy. theres around 7 projects to be released? well what else is gonna get released? i mean theres hardly a huge colelction of things sitting in the vaults so of course the videos would be a major part of it

You can be sure that it will happen. I already know at least one person who's interested in buying it and is a relatively new fan. The best part of it is that this person is very influential around here - so you can bet that he'll talk about it, show it, etc to a lot of people... More fans, anyone?

I would like to add that while us, fans, know all the videos in there (with the exception of OMC) from start to finish, there ARE people out there who doesn't, believe me (specially the uncut videos). This box is actually a great release for everyone - another reason why I don't understand the selfish complaints of a few "fans".

PS.: he's my guitar sensei, anyway. The guy that taught me how to play that wonderful instrument years and years ago. He enjoys sharing material and news with students, so I'm sure he'll be talking a lot about that MJ set. He was talking non-stop about TII when it was released (and I know one student who's already a fan thanks to it)!

so this Vision boxset will be Sony's 3rd release so far out of the total 10 releases correct?

3 releases so far

1. This is It Album
2. Vision Boxset
3. Video Game

Please forgive me for my possible stupid question, but the video game is Sony product too?

Probably because it's called 'Michael Jackson's Vision'. Not 'Several People's Visions: Featuring Michael Jackson'. :cheeky:

Very true. Lol... :hysterical:

May be I'm the only one here who's pleasantly surprised that Sony even put together a "trailer" for this DVD release. Michael Jackson's videos scream "BUY ME". It's music entertainment at its best. People of all races, all ages, all backgrounds would enjoy watching.

While the "trailer" isn't the most spectacular teaser I've ever seen (the honor goes to HIStory teaser), it's great. I feel it's quite well edited. Like some of you mentioned before, I like how they use songs like Your Rock My World and In the Closet in the clips. And, the ending with Michael saying "that's a wrap" is brilliant. His smile and blink there always manage to melt my heart.

For USD $28, casual fans and music lovers in general can own ALL Michael Jackson videos, the groundbreaking videos that revolutionize the whole music industry. how can someone ask for a better deal?

Yes, that's what I thought too and therefore it doesn't count Sony's 10 releases project, correct?

I'm not sure. Does Sony get licensing fee or some kind of revenue from the video game? If so, it may count as one of the 10 projects.

I know for sure This Is It and this DVD release are part of the 10 projects deal. How about the Cirque Du Soleil show? Included in the deal or no?

That would sound logical for Sony to get some licensing fees as the game is using their music, but still I feel it's not exactly their product so it's not a part of the 10 projects. Someone wiser please enlighten us :)

I'm sorry for repeating myself, but I'm sure there's someone who knows the answer for my question about the DVD box set

Question: Is there gonna be 2 versions available?

So called normal package containing only 3 DVD's and then limited edition that in addition contains a 60-page glossy hard-bound book that has behind-the-scenes photos from Michael's personal archives.

Sony will get licensing fees for the game but it isn't a Sony product, its Ubisoft, so will not count as part of the ten releases deal.

The game was created and developed by Ubisoft. Though as Sony own Playstation and licensing rights, they'll be getting quite a bit of money from this. But no, it isn't their project. It's Ubisoft's - http://www.michaeljackson.com/us/news/ubisoft-announces-michael-jackson-video-game
So it shouldn't count as one of Sony's "projects".

There should only be one edition of the DVD box set - meaning every box set comes with a 60-page booklet. Don't pay too much attention to the words "limited edition". It's just marketing glimick that Michael doesn't need.

However, I remember when DVD/BR of This Is It was released back in January, different retailers in the U.S. offered different special package of the DVD/BR. For instance, the BR sold at Best Buy had an extra disk that contains the Smooth Criminal and Thriller clips as bonus. Walmart's version contained some other bonus. There was even an article I read online that compared the different versions sold at different stores. Still, I doubt different retailers will have differnt "special editions" of this DVD box set. Let's see.

Aw reminds me of wen I got TUC, the book isn't as fancy as they make it seem, lol.

I wonder how many mistakes fans are going to correct this time:fortuneteller:

I beleive that when this is released, it will only be available with the booklet. Then down the road when more copies are made, it won't have the booklet. At least that's what the limited edition in the press release leads me to believe. Similar to how when the special editions came out in 2001, they all had the paper sleeves. After a certain time, they didn't come with the sleeves anymore.

Definitely. Remember Thriller25? Not only were there different covers and packaging to choose from, but there were four different otherwise unreleased bonus tracks hidden on a small run of the CD's, one on each of four different retailer's pressings (Target, Best Buy, Circuit City and one that went to "Indie" record stores who were partnered with the CIMS.) They were gone in less than a week! In addition, Walmart had a second DVD (Number Ones I believe) with theirs.

I wonder what they will do for this release. :D

I still think What More Can I Give and We Are The World should be on it. Two charities songs.

I'm disappointed in BOTDF being the REMIX version. We're still not 100% sure 'cause no one has actually seen it (we don't have it yet). Could be a typo as well, I don't know.

ewwww. i've never been disappointed with anything Michael Jackson, but i've always been disappointed with somebody taking over a Michael Jackson masterpiece by remixing it, apart from him. man..that's bad religion..and it better not be true.

that's the only thing that disappointed me about botdf album and first boxset, was the remixes on botdf album and the remix of who is it on the first boxset.

I already pre ordered mine. I just moved abroad to study for some years and I had to leave my MJ colection at home :( So now this is just what I needed :D Me is glad about this, yep

(and me decides not taking part in discussions about this deal. Whatever they/we do, the worst has already happened to Michael, so no use in keep reminding me of that every single day, for I know it too well to need any reminders at all, nor to have anyone trying to make me feel like I'm a bad fan because I get me one of this :agree:).

Does anybody know if videos for "Dangerous" and "Smile" were ever made??????

I'm debating...pre-order now or wait to see if there are "retailer exclusives" the week of release.

This is all so exciting!

November 22 cannot get here fast enough!

Does anybody know if videos for "Dangerous" and "Smile" were ever made??????

I think there's no actual Dangerous short film, but they could have put one of his live performances because it's so famous. Maybe there is something for 'Smile', but it's about some rights, I don't know...

There is another big shame in this DVD set according to me and people who care about the respect of MJ's art: the duration of Smooth Criminal is 9'27, wich means it will be the same version as the HIStory On Film DVD. I think you all know it is an edited version of the video. There is 1 full minute missing if you compare it with the Moonwalker version. They censored 1 minute in the interlude segment of the video.

I think it is unacceptable that we don't have the full version of Smooth Criminal, especially because this DVD set is going to become the main reference concerning Michael Jackson's videos in the future. Smooth Criminal may be the video Michael was most proud of.

Who knows how to contact Sony USA to tell them about this big mistake? (I'm sure they don't even know it's not the right version of the video). I think this is important.
