Michael Jackson's Vision' DVD Boxed Set Available Everywhere Monday November 22

There is another big shame in this DVD set according to me and people who care about the respect of MJ's art: the duration of Smooth Criminal is 9'27, wich means it will be the same version as the HIStory On Film DVD. I think you all know it is an edited version of the video. There is 1 full minute missing if you compare it with the Moonwalker version. They censored 1 minute in the interlude segment of the video.

I think it is unacceptable that we don't have the full version of Smooth Criminal, especially because this DVD set is going to become the main reference concerning Michael Jackson's videos in the future. Smooth Criminal may be the video Michael was most proud of.

Who knows how to contact Sony USA to tell them about this big mistake? (I'm sure they don't even know it's not the right version of the video). I think this is important.

But I thought that the slightly edited version was the "long" MTV Version with an additional scene at the end of the woman fanning herself.

If this is the MTV Version then I think it's okay, and the fuller version belongs to Moonwalker which should have its own DVD/Bluray.

Sony will get licensing fees for the game but it isn't a Sony product, its Ubisoft, so will not count as part of the ten releases deal.

Its good that Sony didn't waste one of their projects on a video game such as this one.

Although the deal between Sony and the Estate is signed in March 2010, the This Is It album is retroactively included in the 10-project deal.

Many people in the media got this fact wrong.

So in that case, the Vision boxset will be Sony's 2nd project.

Definitely. Remember Thriller25? Not only were there different covers and packaging to choose from, but there were four different otherwise unreleased bonus tracks hidden on a small run of the CD's, one on each of four different retailer's pressings (Target, Best Buy, Circuit City and one that went to "Indie" record stores who were partnered with the CIMS.) They were gone in less than a week! In addition, Walmart had a second DVD (Number Ones I believe) with theirs.

I wonder what they will do for this release. :D

Hopefully what they'll do is stick with ONE version so everyone can get it. Different versions may be entertaining for those with the money in their pockets but it's a highly unfair situation. It may only be "fun" to Sony and the Estate, actually, as we would be paying for the same content twice or even more just for a few snippets that we should also get in the first place by buying ONE package.

One version. 3 DVDs and the book. Same content for EACH and EVERY fan who's paying for it and expecting to have it "all". That's what I hope they'll do.

Even if they only release one 'main edition', there will usually still be different version for collectors to get anyways. For instance different pressing countries - there's usually some made in Korea, Japan, The EU (Holland or France), Canada or the US. If there's ANY difference in the packaging, the collectors will find them - and collect them. :) (I know I will - my bf is already worrying about November's financial situation, LOL!)

Different presses from countries all over the world is expected - what I'm saying is "exclusive *this store* edition", "exclusive *that store* edition", etc. In my honest opinion, no matter what they say, that's milking money. It makes people buy the same content more than once just for a little snippet that should be avaible for everyone in the same package in the first place. Or the "collectable" packagings...

It's also a huge problem with business nowadays, IMO. Not exclusive to the music industry.

:wild:

I told my mum bout it and told her how i mainly wanna get it for the "one more chance" vid, she was like "why spend money just for that?"

Im still undecide on whether i should get it or not.

Jess, just do like I told you I'm going to do when I get it... I'm going to be away in Redcliffe when its released as I'm going to be helping Selina with little Nathaniel we will also be taken Nicholas out for his b'day so I'm just going to the shops and buying it, then when I get home put it with the rest of my MJ dvd collection and that way my parents won't no any different :D

so this Vision boxset will be Sony's 3rd release so far out of the total 10 releases correct?

3 releases so far

1. This is It Album
2. Vision Boxset
3. Video Game

The video game is NOT a product by Sony and Michael already initiated it in 2009 BEFORE he died so untimely.

I am VERY, VERY, VERY excited about this!!

The only thing I would possibly add on the 3rd disc, as many have said, is We Are the World, the TDCAU video from This Is It, and the This Is It video by Spike Lee or the one that features clips from the movie.

It would really be a full retrospective to have the last clips of Michael Jackson performing on the DVD, but I am perfectly happy and content with what is being offered and I can't wait to have it.

YAYYYYYYYYY. Feeling a bit guilty about the fact that HIStory and dangerous and number ones will now be gathering some MAJOR DUST. not too mention the money effectively wasted. ...but oh well. SWEET LITTLE MJ IS WORTH IT.
now that i think about it, the man (mj) sure knows how to eat away at my bank balance esp with 7 more albums, cirque and the experience... lol

Now i want the full version of ghost 100 times morreeeee. Pleaseeeeee sonyyyyyyyy. Even tho i hate u... ;)

Well I think it screams 'buy me' to casual and hardcore, Casuals get every single music video in Remastered quality in just one package, for a very reasonable price at that..Hardcores get 'One More Chance' a long with the booklet, and remastered music videos (and vids that weren't released on any official DVD before)

Exactly.

I think it will be a big success with casuals and the general public.

Exactly, this is what I've been saying for a long time now, everyone has seen Thriller or Black or White etc videos, but hardly anyone has seen Michael perform live in front of a crowd, I showed my son who is 8 years old Bille Jean performance from Dangerous concert and he was amazed and transfixed, I think to put Michael into the next era, generate new fans they have to see Michael perform live, that is where the magic is, not these video's we've seen time and time again. This box set is for the fans, a beautiful keep sake, to be treasured.

You may be surprised by how many videos of MJ the general public (especially the younger people) don't know about! If you go to YouTube for example there are always people surprised to find out there is a real video to "Who is it" or there is a prison version of TDCAU.

And music videos aren't like movies anyway that you watch once or twice and no more. People want to watch music videos all over again. So even if they know and have seen Thriller, Black or White etc. - that's exactly the reason why they may want to buy it and have it! Because they have seen them and want to see them all over again. And MTV doesn't play music videos any more....

yeah, can you believe it?? I was really upset to see that! I hope they will get it right on the actual box and the booklet!

right im pissed...it doesnt even LOOK right. How stupid can they be? And if its spelled wrong on the product they better refund me lol.

Re: VISION Alternate DVD Covers!

Looks great.

But the picture of MJ's Toes is already used for the HIStory cd. (the release of only disc 1)

lol. this package is fun. there is a lot missing... so much
after a first view...

history
whatzupwitu
torture
body
What more can i give
We are the World
2300 Jackson Street
i want you back
who's lovin' you

retro:
This is it
wanna be startin' somethin' 2008
unbreakable
butterflies
cheater
one more chance

it would also be better to include the alternate versions of:
give in to me
gone too soon
blood on the dance floor
scream (directors cut)
will you be there
who is it

jacksons/jackson 5:
keep on dancing
good times
Even though you're gone
Dreamer
Goin' Places

(but most of them are something like performances and there are for sure copyrights needed, they don't have)

and the official megamix videos:
tony moran megamix
HIStory MJ Megaremix

and important, cause people talking about they will get the "full" version of you rock my world. no, you don't!
the full version is 13:48. its 18 sec. longer. and have some different footage included. only shown on mtv/vh1.

i wonder if one more chance is really the real deal? and if all videos are in 5.1. i think only stereo. ^^

thanks sony for this ^^

whatzupwitu is an Eddie Murphy song not MJ, so that would be a little weird to include. - But ok, Say, Say, Say is a McCartney song. But still whatzupwitu is not known at all.

Otherwise I do agree.

Re: VISION Alternate DVD Covers!

^^^

I can hear it myself now actually.

Doesn't matter if it's not known at all imo... But I gues since it's not produced by Michael.

I think we all agree that they should do something more on disc 3.

And they can, it's not too late. We should mail Sony about this.

And I think the copyright to What more can I give is partly owned by Marc Schaffel?
