Michael Jackson’s Mother, Katherine, Will Publish Book on Monday

I agree. I honestly believe Katherine has good intentions with this book and wants to put to rest all the crap that was said about Michael but sadly there are far too many shady people like Shafell and the rest looking to take advantage.
 
In my enthusiasm I had not read all reactions in this thread and proceeded to order the book. Shipping to my country is 39 USD! After reading this thread I cancelled the order and received an e-mail asking why I "ordered the book in error". I replied that I wanted to be sure that this book was indeed written by Katherine Jackson and endorsed by the Michael Jackson Estate. That was yesterday. I haven't heard back from them yet. Once I find out more, if they reply eventually, I'll let you all know in this thread.

Howard Mann is Mrs. Jackson’s new business partner. He tells me bought the assets of Henry Vaccaro out of bankruptcy, including the New Jersey warehouse filled with Jackson family memorabilia.

The warehouse included many personal items from the family including letters and some things that might have caused embarrassment had they made it into an auction.

Mann quickly contacted Mrs. Jackson and made a deal with her. He returned personal possessions, and in exchange started to develop projects. The first is Mrs. Jackson’s book of photographs coming this Monday, called “Never Can Say Goodbye.”

Mann, who is from Toronto, made his money with online gambling. His 121 Gaming company –described as a celebrity driven, erotic content provider–.got so successful that in 2006 he introduced online “nude” gambling. He created a site called GrandNevada.com and told a gaming website: “Online gaming will never be the same. Why would anyone choose to play against a boring online video based game that could be altered to drastically favor the house? Now people can play real casino games in real time, with real live sexy dealers, just like in a real casino, except at GrandNevada.com, the dealers are either wearing bikinis or are topless.”

Mann continued: “We have booked several adult film stars to deal live and in the proverbial flesh.”

Mann also created Carmen Electra’s Naked Women’s Wrestling league. Unfortunately, that ended in tears. And a lawsuit.

Sadly, GrandNevada.com is no more. I always find out about these things too late!

Since then, Mann says he’s gotten out of that business and turned his 121 Ventures into a high end video production and online company. He’s aiming to take the Jackson site, jacksonsecretvault.com, and create a place where music fans can download their favorite tunes and bands– his own version of ITunes.

This Howard Mann sounds like someone that will jump into anything where there may be a few dollars involved. "Carmen Electra's Naken Women's Wrestling league"? Katherine was made aware of this man's previous business dealings before turning "high end"?

There's going to be those that disagree, but why in the world wouldn't a project like this be put in the hands of a reputable/stable/respected publishing company with money and respected history to really back this properly? Sure, there may be a "rush" to get this out there for the one year mark, but wouldn't a proven leader in the industry be a better call in the long run, heck someone that could get the backing of the estate to promote the whole thing to maintain a level of professionalism? Wouldn't that guarantee a bigger slice for the people Michael wished to receive the benefits?

I guess the "rush" is to get that money coming in for "fill in the blank"'s project, skip the estate altogether, irregardless that it's Michael's children and Mother that ultimately benefit in the long run. So basically whatever amount comes in, they skip the estate, and this Howard Mann guy and a few other rather questionable "promoters" of this will get a little money, versus Katherine and the children (the estate)being guaranteed a far larger percentage if the project is done to high standards and most likely a much larger "audience" of people/fans that would purchase/trust/anticipate a well put together product. And bottom line, if Joe is ultimtely behind this, just why in the world doesn't he try to get people with a little higher level of previous "work experience", ie, not someone with a business history like this Howard Mann person; "nude gambling site"? WTH?

Jmo, and I know that there will be people that will not agree with my thoughts on this.

umm... remember Scheffel owed Michael money from that lawsuit.. maybe this is an arrangement they made for him to repay Michael

a good business deal for all concerned_ Thank you Katherine

I dont think Katherine has to has permission from the estate to write book about her own son
she may have to pay for any copyright issues but I doubt the estate would even make any claims
against Katherines book ... I seriously doubt they would _ they are trying to keep his legacy
they are noy tyrants .. Im very impressed with the estate so far _ I bet they are working with
Katherine on this _ through her attorneys _ they will not deny her this book _ I gaurantee


This is one book I would love to read and have in my MJ Library


Im not so sure about the other MJ tems they are selling on the website

mayb he is a slimeball that doesn't deserve our attention but katherine does.

huh?? Katherine doesn't own the memorabilia?? Vaccaro sold them to that porn guy Howard Mann...he now owns everything.

And he wanted Katherine to write the book because he knew it would be an easier sale..in exchange they will share the money with her.


Check who holds copyright to the pictures in the book? Enough said. :hysterical:

See and that's one of the reasons that I will not purchase anything that is not approved by the Estate.

No offense to Ms. Katherine, but I don't trust ANY of those folks and I certainly won't be trusting my credit card information to them either!

I mean, it's "supposed" to be a legitimate book, why can't it be published by a reputable publishing house, wherein I can go to my local Barnes & Noble and thumb through this new book, before I buy it. Why does it have to be sold on some "crummy" website who's origin is dubious, to say the least.

I just ain't with all of these "back-alley" deals, again no offense to Ms. Katherine.

I'm "guessing" that if the book is made up of Ms. Katherine's PRIVATE pictures and thoughts, the Estate has no authority to question it. I don't know for a fact, I'm just guessing here.

My thing is why does it have to be done so SHADY!

In my opinion, Ms. Katherine could have "probably" gone to the biggest and best Publishing House in the land, which would have afforded her top notch promotion for "her" book. I mean aside from the handful of us who frequent Michael Jackson fan boards, nobody even knows about this project. It just seems so SNEAKY to me.

Why would Ms. Katherine took this questionable route, I don't know, but I do have an idea. LOL!

No, The Estate controls Michael Jackson's image and name. Normally you cannot put out anything for financial gain without their approval but I'm ''guessing'' that since she's KAtherine and a short time beneficiary they are ok with .. ?
Maybe our Ivy knows more
