"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Yep these are the more successful ones out there. Hopefully Michael gets up there with Elvis. Also look out for the upcoming Beatles Biopics

1 Bohemian Rhapsody
2 Elvis
3 Straight Outta Compton
4 Rocketman
5 Walk The Line
6 One Love
7 Ray
All of these movies came out in the 2000s. But there's many music biopics released in theaters before this century. A lot more music biopics are made for TV though, where box office gross isn't important and they can be made longer.

A survey for the biopic stated that 56% of Americans wanted to see a Michael Jackson biopic, with nearly 80% for Gen Z saying they were interested. On survey's generating pre-film interest for blockbusters, on average 45-48% of the people who said they were interested end up buying a ticket to see it. So this is really good for the movie

Film is not my jam, don't know who she is, went to check her out.

"Harrier, of “BlacKkKlansman” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” fame, will portray pioneering female music executive Suzanne de Passe in the Lionsgate project.

Harrier is a Screen Actors Guild award nominee for her work in Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman,” and also appeared in the Ryan Murphy Netflix original series “Hollywood.” She most recently starred opposite Jack Harlow in an update of the comedy classic “White Men Can’t Jump.”

So how are we feeling about the possibility of this film ending rather early and not covering his later years. Casting for people who entered his life later has not been announced at all so far. Unless I'm wrong and have missed it?

theres been a leak of a pic of jafarr as mature mike on facebook

Laura Harrier looks a little bit like Paula Patton especially when she smiles. Seems like good casting. Given Harrier's casting, I'm standing by this prediction from a few months back
I'd be really glad if it's included. It's probably the best Jacksons song and it's probably the best bridge between The Jacksons and Michael's solo career

As for Damien's comments, I wouldn't be surprised if the biopic is mostly 70's to early 90's, the reason being Jaafar doesn't resemble his uncle in the 90's as he's like 15-20 years younger.
I can see the biopic ending on the Superbowl

No, I don't think you have. Production is obviously in full swing so I think they're just pacing themselves with the cast revelations to keep the anticipation going. If they're filming Suzanne then presumably they already have Berry Gordy cast. There are so many other people from Michael's life who could potentially be in the film.

They can easily cover the events of the later years even if they don't cast a single soul to portray it. Making a narrative doesn't require us watching someone play as MJ the whole way through.

The music should definitely dictate the narrative as a matter of fact. They could make montages of whole eras using just one or two songs apiece; that's 3 hours easy.

Not looking forward to it unless they are willing to not pander, and show the flaws with the genius.
