"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Many have probably heard this but if they were to blend some of it with real MJ (they did that in Elvis) it will sound so authentic.

I'm so excited for this.
Yes! If they did a few songs that were Jaafar and then real mj songs/remixes (not too many remixes), plus possibly live and unreleased, it would be a great soundtrack and make everyone happy! Also I love the way he grew out his hair, and I don’t wanna jump to conclusions but I do love his movements. They are not too over exaggerated, etc. It also looks sort of like when MJ was rehearsing for the Bad Tour in 1988, but it’s just a photo shoot so prob doesn’t mean anything.

I can imagine that, based on Jaafar's MITM video, Michael's 88 Grammys performance will be the movie's big finale. They need something like that, Bohemian Rhapsody did the same and it's the movie's best scene, the Elvis movie did it as well.
They could show that performance at the end even though they show parts of the 90's and 2000's before that. It is one of his most recognizable performances, has a strong message, everybody's standing up ("stand up, gotta make a change!") is cool and it's emotional, too. "Make that Change" would be the last spoken words of the movie, what could be better!

That's decent but at the same time I'd hate for them to follow a "biopic playbook" as it were. They could do something different, I say let it end on an even more bittersweet moment. Like MJ singing Gone Too Soon to himself or something.

But your idea is much more traditional and likely.

I like Man in the Mirror as ending, it leaves a great message, something Michael did and a lot of people should be remembered.

If it really ends with the grammy performance 1988, I still hope they include '90s and '00s, the trials and other topics such his changing appearence and self image, if they dont people or the media are going to say it is washed or leaves controversies out.

This biopic is THE moment to show people the real Michael Jackson like we know him, not the media tabloid version still a lot of people see. They cant fk it up..

I’ve shared my ideas several times before but I gladly do it again

An MJ biopic should be light fantasy because Michael carried that childhood fantasy with him his entire life. What I lean with fantasy is that it should be a mix of several genres and not just a dry hard drama biopic.
- I always envisioned dream scenes where Michael relives a different childhood, this could be done through animation for example (not that outrageous as Tarantino used animated scenes in his kill bill film too)
- the film should be colorful and chaotic to emphasize Michael’s kind hearted good spirit. This could be done with musical numbers. Michael has always been theatrical so the actors erupting into song and dance at certain scenes shouldn’t be too weird.
- it should include comedy, for example a slap stick scene inspired by his hero Chaplin, maybe involving animals. lots of emotions in general, a laugh and a tear go perfectly together.

I want the film to be wild and imaginative because Michael was all that. Just look at his Moonwalker film and you understand what I mean. It should not be like the Ray Charles, Freddie Mercury or Johnny Cash biopics, it is much too serious and dry.

They’re doing a dry film though, I am 100% sure of it.

PS I still hope for a 2005 courtroom drama too with dry hard facts, critics can’t dispute that. Michael doesn’t even have to be center stage in such a film because it would distract from the facts. Movie genre like judgement at Nuremburg or Witness for the prosecution.

Good good ideas. It sounds like the MJ One/Broadway Musical kind of narrative, where it's very fantastical but still based on his life. It can't be too outlandish but yeah.

I never saw these but yes from what I read about them that is the right path imo. I think as a fanbase we’ve been on a rollercoaster since 1993 and I think this film should be a celebration first and not a psychological study.

It's the guy who made Borap film that is making it so we can probably expect it to follow that formula. Wasn't a great film but it did what it needed to do and introduced queen to a more modern audience.

I’d be looking more at the writer and director to determine the direction of the film than the producer/executive producer.

fair, I still think it can give us a general idea of how the movie will be produced, though.

They're a promising duo actually.

John Logan is a solid screenwriter, definitely not a no name.

Antoine Fuqua has directed many solid films, nothing incredible about his direction but it's certainly not your standard franchise blockbuster.

It's also interesting to note that he started directing music videos, for Brandy, Prince, and Stevie Wonder. So he actually has familiarity with capturing videos set to music specifically.

This would be really great and it's something I would love to see.
A biopic that was done in an artistic way and reminds me a bit of this is Gainsbourg : A Heroic Life and it is to me the best biopic I've seen in terms of taking the art of the artist and really making it the whole personality of the movie, it's really taking us inside his world.

But I really don't think Antoine Fuqua would be the right director for that.

I think this biopic will be a celebration of Michael's achievements rather than a telling of his life story. For one I think Mike's story is too vast to accurately cover in less than 2 hours and secondly I think Jaafar is too young to accurately portray his uncle in his 40's.

Wouldn't be surprised if it covers him with his brothers (mid 70's) and goes up to the Dangerous era. The biggest complications could be Mike's burn and his vitiligo, delving into how he dealt with the condition

Yes there's far to much to cover

My hot take is I wouldn't mind Jaafar getting to "duet" with his uncle on unfinished songs, or maybe even sing some of the unfinished ones. Not over just getting to hear them but, idk, I'd rather that than getting Bruno or The Weeknd. Or AI.

No offense but I hope we don’t hear Jaafar sing anything. Just my opinion he isn’t very good.

We obviously don't know what the biopic is going to focus on (Michael's life or his achievements/influence in music culture) but maybe it'll focus on both aspects. Maybe half is his achievements and the other personal life. One thing I do hope that the biopic will shed light on is to show the public who Michael truly is. It would make me super delighted to see people know even just a little bit of Michael's humanitarian side! Hopefully the biopic will deliver to satisfy all our needs and wants : )

I've barely heard him sing. What isn't very good about him?
Let me phrase that differently. He has a good singing voice and is a good dancer. I think he will be great playing MJ. The few songs I’ve heard on YouTube sound like any other 90’s r and b singer. Sometimes the songs make the singer. Sorry didn’t mean to sound negative.

Interesting . Legit question though . I wonder how they will do the vitiligo bit especially if they get around to the BAD era as that when it was like he had become white . Dangerous even more so. I thinking maybe some sort of visual effects and make up.

was it confirmed that its less than two hours??
i expect minimum 2:30 hours...

It's an interesting question to be fair.

If you look at that test footage, Jaafar's skin does seem quite light anyway and I think when you see behind the scenes photos from the Bad era Michael's completion was still pretty dark. It was during the Dangerous era that his condition seemed to begin to really take hold
