"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Let me phrase that differently. He has a good singing voice and is a good dancer. I think he will be great playing MJ. The few songs I’ve heard on YouTube sound like any other 90’s r and b singer. Sometimes the songs make the singer. Sorry didn’t mean to sound negative.
That's why I'd be interested in hearing him sing his uncle's songs. They'd really make him give it his all. And it's better all in the family than with Justin Timberlake again.

Among those involved in the production are Oscar-winning director of photography Dion Beebe, production designer Barbara Ling, costume designer Marci Rodgers, choreographers Rich + Tone, Oscar-winning makeup artist Bill Corso, Oscar-nominated hair stylist Carla Farmer, Oscar-winning sound and music supervisor John Warhurst and VFX supervisor Louis Morin, joined by a crew of more than 420.

Ending on grammys MITM wont happen since the estate said they are going to cover the controversy. Unless they want to jump all over the timeline.

When is it going to end in the timeline? the Musical covered up to dangerous and is the biggest thing on Broadway right now.

They can cover the allegations just by showing us Wade Robson and Jimmy Safechuck's childhood time spent with MJ. And how inconsistent with their allegations it is. All as a prelude to the real big deal, the Chandler allegations.

I'm assuming up until TII. I feel like they have to since so much happened in his career. Stopping at dangerous might work for the musical, but I think the biopic has to go beyond that.

There is so much to cover that essentially it should be a two part film - they're not gonna do that though.

It worries me the pacing of the film, to include so much music and the drama some parts are gonna feel rushed.

It needs to have a emotional connection rather than a greatest hits montage, it needs to be balanced perfectly.

It wouldn't surprise me if the J5 parts are only showed in little flashback moments.

I think its already funny that they announcing an exact release date of the movie...

- It's longer than a year away
- they didn't even start filming
- i bet my ass the movie will be delayed
- i bet it will be out not before November

lets see if i'm right. See ya in 1,5 years :p

Eh, it's not like this is a CGI blockbuster film, they can cover up production, post-production and marketing within that timeframe easily. The El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie for example began filming in November 2018 but the movie was released only 11 months after that, so 15 months can be more than enough to develop a film and leave some of the remaining time for promotion.

The timeline aspect is the most interesting part for me. Common sense would say cover it till the controversy but that would be a big cop out

You forgot that part where the estate is involved and that means it will be delayed

You complain when no time is mentioned and the same when one is mentioned. Yes we will see. The only fear I see is the timeline of the trial and how this will affect everything.

Where did I complain? I just said „I bet it will be delayed“… it’s no complaint

It is a tough one this biopic. With the ones like Freddie and Whitney , not so much was known about them so it was a bit easier to get into their "heyday" . This one would have to cover the early years , the beatings , the later tours Triumph , Victory ( Don King stuff etc) , the skin color change, the allegations , it is going to be difficult i would think to get all that in one movie . Even if it is over 3hrs long. Long movies tend to bore people also , especially folks that do not know THAT much about the person. The 2025 release is probably a "safe " timeline to slot it also because of this courtcase coming. If that happens.

Movies are always given an exact release date but it is also pretty common for dates to change around. If the biopic suddenly gets a star wars film in the same release window then the biopic will be pulled back or move forward. That is how it works.
