It's almost like that game show: "A Minute To Win It!"

To me it looks like Katherine Jackson is just trying to earn as much money as possible, in the fast manner possible.

I mean, she has to know by now that she has upset a bunch of the very folks who SHOULD BE her target audience. Nobody but US would really be interested in a "Heal The World Foundation." Maybe folks on a smaller scale would be interested, but the MAJORITY of support would come from US, in my opinion.

This is just ANOTHER "little" money grab, in my opinion, and just like everything else the Jackson's do, the veil has been lifted, and we see exactly what's going on.

Just everybody be carefull with who is telling you what and ask for links, sources and in case someone wants to tell about Michaels support for prove ALWAYS.

Michaels legacy is out there, it doesn't ever need money for anything! Who is telling that has problems! First these ppl don't understand his true legacy and second these ppl are probably here for an own selfish agenda!

CBS News has learned that a charity claiming to be affiliated with Michael Jackson has no connection to his estate.

In the days after Michael Jackson’s death there were numerous news references to the ongoing charitable work of his “Heal the World Foundation”. However Jackson’s charity officially closed its doors in 2004. A new charity also named the “Heal the World Foundation” leaves the impression it is the same charity but CBS News has discovered it has no connection to the pop star’s current estate.

The foundation’s website has been a magnet for fans searching for a Michael Jackson “charity”. In recent weeks the foundation has begun asking for donations from visitors who want to post or read material on the site that is dominated by comments from fans around the world. Records provided by the charity indicate the website received $6,191.57 in donations during the month of July through PayPal.

The charity is run by Melissa Johnson who also runs a home health care business for the elderly called “Angels Embrace” run out of the same office in Palm Desert, California. A call to Johnson’s home was answered with, “Angels Embrace,” by a man who said his name was Chris Johnson.

According to state records the current "Heal the World Foundation" started in March 2008. Federal records show the organization received its IRS tax exempt status in January of 2009. In response to questions about the charitable work of the foundation, Johnson told CBS News, "our only actions have been to protect the property of the charity and console the fans and people who want to pay tribute in their own way."

Johnson obtained the trademark “Heal the World Foundation” according to the US Trademark Office in October 2008. But a month after Jackson’s death she filed for a new trademark, “Michael Jackson Heal the World Foundation”. In her application she notes that she wants to provide, “Charitable services, namely, providing a website that enables children of a school district to communicate with a charity of their choice; Computer services, namely, creating an on-line community for registered users to participate in discussions, get feedback from their peers, form virtual communities, and engage in social networking; Hosting of digital content on the Internet.”

Melissa Johnson also filed three applications to trademark “MJ” in July of 2008 to be used for “athletic apparel,” “audio and video recordings”, “digital media”, “downloadable music”, “video games”, “toys… talking toys… and toy and novelty face masks” according to the US Patent and Trademark office.

But representatives of the Jackson estate say the foundation is not linked, "The Michael Jackson estate has no connection whatsoever to the "Heal the World Foundation” run by Melissa Johnson," said Terry Fahn, a spokesperson for John Branca, the special administrator of the Jackson estate.

Branca has been embroiled in a back and forth debate for the last few weeks with the Jackson family over the estate.

A spokesperson for Katherine Jackson’s attorney L. Londell McMillan could not confirm or deny a connection to Melissa Johnson. Johnson told CBS she has not been in touch with the Jackson family since his death.

The foundation plays up its connection to Michael Jackson. The charity’s Twitter account with 587 followers says, “Heal The World Foundation was started by Pop Star Michael Jackson in 1992. Anyone interested in comitting(sic) themselves to Healing the World is most welcome here”. The site notes that following Jackson’s London tour he was planning to, “live a long and full life, devoted to [Heal the World Foundation] and serving his God and his fellow man, with his fans leading the way”.

“The Jackson management that reports to you now is NOT his management staff of many years,” said Johnson of the current "Heal the World Foundation" in an email to CBS, “They recently replaced a crew of managers and those people had been working with us for years.”

Johnson told CBS News that she worked with the firm of Raymone Bain, Jackson’s former spokesperson, and particularly with Bain's former partner Van Alexander. But a representative for Bain told CBS News that Bain “never worked with Melissa Johnson or with the Heal the World Foundation.” Alexander, who no longer works with Bain, did not respond to messages left requesting comment.

The Heal the World Foundation website boasts an exhaustive list of projects related to Michael Jackson: the Michael Jackson Annual Telethon, Michael’s Army (of volunteers), the MJ Film Company, a newspaper and publishing company, Kid Care Centers, a Michael Jackson movie, “animal projects” and “Learning Centers”.

One thing I can say I have seen in the last few days, is the FACT that Katherine Jackson has lost support from the very folks who once had her back.

Johnson and Mann can send out whomever they want, at this point, in my opinion, it's TOO LATE!

No matter how you slice it, what's going on here is wrong! It's not just us saying it's wrong. If you visit some NON-MJ websites, the discussion is the same, i.e. "many folks are surprised and disappointed by Mrs. Jackson's actions (not just us)."

at the end of the day for whatever reason katherine doesnt have enough money (for what she wants to spend it on) and becasue she cant get anymore off mj as she did in the past shes now doing the next best thing. ie using his kids to make money. nothings changed shes just had to move onto to using the mj3 as cash cows instead of her son because thats where the media intrest is.now. its plain exploitation and nothing more. even worse when its totaly against what your son wanted. how anyone can try to justify it is beyond me.

Even though it's not exactly within the legal responsibilities of the estate executors, I do think it would be possible for them to get a restraining order, which would prevent Johnson from being close to the children. They clearly have documented instances of her stalking Michael, and this would be an extension of that? They have already been proactive in that statement they released but might choose to take it another step?

The "guardian" of the children should be looking after their best interests, but that doesn't seem to be happening in this instance.

You've attached a 2010 document by the estate, not a restraining order initiated my Michael Jackson when he was alive.

You are the one that's mixing issues. My original point was that fans should cut Katherine Jackson and the charity some slack, not that she is perfect.

I understand why fans are concerned about Michael's children being videotaped. I never said I didn't. I can see why fans don't approve of it. And I understand that Howard Mann is behind their appearance, with Katherine's approval.

All I am saying is there are far worse things in this world than the children occasionally appearing on TV in a positive light. I've seen fans say crazy things like the children should be removed from Katherine's care and that child services should get involved. There are children out there being abused every day in far more severe ways. Katherine is a loving, albeit imperfect, guardian. But no one is perfect. She clearly instilled a lot of good values in Michael. There is no need to remove the grandchildren from her care or be so harsh towards her.

The children is question here are the children of Michael Jackson..not the children of some random person on the street...THESE children are being exposed to very bad people...in case you dont know...there are porn kings, thieves, and liars. Katherine is choosing to do business with these people..when she signed that contact with Mann..that involved the children...These people dont give a shit about Michael Jackson's children..they just want to make money off of him and now his children. Katherine has cleared the way for this to happen. noone said that Katherine didn't love her grandchildren. You make the point that Michael had the kids visiting this place before..yes he did..but he did it in silence....he didnt need to have camera's there in order to have it documented..that is what Michael was teaching his children. Mann is using Katherine to exploit the children..

I'm sorry, but you are implying I don't know how to do research. I have a degree from an Ivy league school. I know how to research and analyze facts.

As a moderator you should be objective and not offensive. I haven't disagreed or discarded any of the facts as known. I've simply drawn a different conclusion. There's a big difference.

And I never said anyone was a rabid, evil beast, just that they should have more faith in Katherine and not be so quick to judge. Things are never as straightforward as they appear on the surface and fans should remain open minded.

Arguing in circles where neither side feels as if they are being understood gets nothing accomplished but a lot of hurt feelings.

And don't take this personally, it is not necessarily directed at you, but I am just saying that there are many people with degrees, but still don't have common sense. (This part is directed at you) So an Ivy league degree does not necessarily mean anything. (That is kind of off topic and I personally wanted to say that because it is a pet peeve of mine when people try to use rank and degrees to say they know what they are talking about as a way to magnify themselves.) To me it is not a matter of legality whether Katherine is making the right choices or not. It is also a matter of common sense. Who exposes children to this? On the contrary, we try to protect them from as much tomfoolery as possible.

As mods, we try to be objective, but we do have our own opinions. And they are not always going to be suppressed. It's impossible. We are also fans watching things unfold.

Fans have been open minded with Katherine for so long now. Almost 2 years and she has disappointed many fans continually. So far, things have been exactly as they have seemed. So you have to understand when some can't take it anymore and have to react. It is very diffucult to have faith in someone who has on numerous occasions (not just once or twice) made poor decisions.
