Katherine Jackson Receiving $86K Monthly from Son's Estate

Michael Jackson's mother and the singer's three children are being well taken care of, financially speaking, after the singer's death.

Court documents released Thursday in Los Angeles show that Katherine Jackson is receiving $86,804 per month from her son's estate to support herself and her three grandchildren. A judge approved the payments last month.

The documents state that Katherine, 79, had been financially dependent on her son during his life, and that for years, Michael had paid for all her living expenses at the Jackson family's Encino, Calif., home.

Specifically, Katherine will receive $26,804 per month for an assistant, housekeeper, driver, utilities, clothing, grooming and other expenses. The remaining $60,000 will be for the grandchildren, but details were scant on how that money would be spent.

Lawyers for the singer's estate also estimated his total assets exceeds $500 million, and that future business agreements bearing Michael Jackson's name could generate "tens of millions of dollars."

Katherine Jackson has been named permanent guardian of the three grandchildren. All four are primary beneficiaries under the singer's will, including some unnamed charities.

Of course. She's an 80 year old woman, not a seasoned attorney. She shouldn't have those responsibilities thrown on her. However, the estate should have been more supportive of her book. There are virtually no positive books out there on Michael. They should have been super supportive of her on this in my opinion as it's important to Michael's legacy that such books are published, rather than the trash we typically find. Maybe had she received proper support from them she wouldn't have felt the need to look for another partner.

I don't mean financial support. I mean support in continuing her son's legacy. She is trying to shed him in a positive light in the book. It makes no sense to me that the estate would not be in support of her doing so. It bothers me, especially given that Michael's image was so tarnished in the press and given that there was so little published on him that was positive. It makes me feel like they are not always thinking about what's best for his legacy.

Again, I understand they haven't stopped her, but my understanding from her is that they didn't back her either.

yup that is what I heard..I dont have the book either...but from what other fans have posted..the book is nothing more than photo's copy and pasted from her other book.

But that is the estate's job..to look out for PPB financial future...and that is what they are doing...not to offer emotional support to Katherine..or too look out for Michael's image..or his future legacy...they are about monetary only.

Looking out for Michael's image is looking out for PPB's financial future. They are one and the same. The more positively Michael is viewed the more money the estate will bring in.

The estate is doing just what they should be doing..thanks to Michael.. PPB will have very nice lives financially.

If nobody buys Michael Jackson books, how come so many are published? There are not that many diehard fans, so obviously, someone is buying them. Publishers are not into printing books for no profit. Lots of people bought MJ books after his passing, the majority of which were casual fans. Given that they were only casual fans they ended up buying trashy books, not knowing the difference. Unfortunately, trashy books is all they had to choose from.

There are lots of casual MJ fans out there that still have some doubts about his behavior with children. They listen to his music but still have reservations about him. Nobody would have reservations about him if proper material was published. And sure, not everyone will buy it, but the more people that do, the more his positive image will spread.

Mann started his campaign to recruit unstable fanatics late last year after the United For Michael Jackson's legacy group's first statement denouncing him & his website made it on tmz.com.

Again, don't let moles distract you all. We know some of them...and we are not surprised that these bandwagon fanaticss (who discovered MJ after June 25th 2009 like Taaj) are siding with a pornographer AGAINST Michael's legacy (Kids & trademarks). Defending Katherine is one thing...but Defending the indefensible is clearly a sign.

then I think they should do further research about Michael...google is a good place to start. I do see where you are coming from about having nice books written about Michael....but Katherine's book wasn't it...I cannot sit here and try and say what her intentions were hen she put it together...I do however know that she partnered with Mann...and for that reason I would NEVER buy that book....IMO...it seems as though it was put out for monetary reasons instead for a legit good reason. People are gonna think about Michael what they think..no book from Katherine will change their minds..I have been a MJ fan for over 30 years,,,I am yet to see people change their minds about him...either a person likes him or they dont. Now I think this thread has gone off topic...better get it back on track.

That really WOULD be best. The implications of the interview are pretty clear; the estate has made a statement, and some fans really ARE taking some actions. Not everyone has to make that choice, of course. The thread has been primarily, for many pages now, one person supporting Katherine and her actions, and everyone else responding?

Let's move ON, please. No need to respond anymore? What concerns me now is what ELSE might be in the works as far as promotions of these dubious enterprises, by the CHILDREN? And, I truly wish their photos would be taken OFF that Heal the World website, at least until there is a resolution to the lawsuit against that charity. That is only rational, and logical? Trying to shed a positive light? Did that include her going on Oprah and saying his nose was like a pencil? Did that include her calling her son an addict despite the fact she said not to long ago he was not? Does that include her bitching about how she needs more money despite the fact her son's will makes it that she never has to worry about money? Nah leave his legacy to the estate not her. And as far has that book goes it was filled with old PICS and quotes from a book she put out years ago. That had nothing to do with his legacy but it had a lot to do with her bottom line

Katherine wasn't going to write a book until she got together with Mann. This book is the first project of her deal with Mann, it contains pictures from his collection that he bought from Vaccaro. This book is designed to make money for both Katherine and Mann and in reality has little to do with Michael's legacy. Let's be clear here.

Why should the Estate support such a project that's connected to someone like Mann?

We usually hear things weeks/month in advance and then begin to debate it or do some action. Is this what will happen with the next interview/exploitation episode. Agree. It's possible that that's why there was little "warning" about the GMA program, for just that reason -- so fans wouldn't protest it. We should continue to be aware of "family tweets?" Some of those folks can't help but talk too much!

I hope "the book" is a non-issue now, and we can move on from that? The thread is about the children and the GMA show, right? The book was comprised of recycled photographs. I don't think it was ever in bookstores, was it? But marketed mostly to FANS, on fan-sites? And, I'd expect given recent developments, that market is all but dried up? I highly doubt that most fans would buy ANY Katherine/Mann "products" now, and the general public probably isn't that interested. So I guess Katherine will just have to scrimp and save and find a way to live on EIGHTY-SIX THOUSAND dollars a MONTH?

I think perhaps Michael made sure that since he was leaving custody of his children to his mother, so it was imperative that she not have a single financial worry in terms of taking care of them and herself.

And he kept her away from Michael Jackson the Brand because he knew that she would not be able to manage it and those she may choose to manage would only mess things up.

That is my analysis.

I do not think (and I cannot know for sure) that Michael expected his mother to disregard how he raised his children and to tie them to a contract for life to make money that neither she nor his children need!

And I am pretty sure he did not leave the bulk share of his estate to her.

I agree with you. Also, she is his mother and he expected her to know what type of parent he wanted to be and hoped she would carry on in a similar way. Maybe he might have changed the guardianship later on. Who knows, but no one blames him for appointing his mother, nor do we feel he was wrong. The person who is doing the inappropriate thing is the mother.

That just about sums it up? That is a HUGE amount of money for Katherine and children to live on. She is not young, and eventually ALL the money will go to his children. We can't know for sure, of course, but I simply can't imagine that Michael would have expected/wanted his mother to "tie the children to a contract for life" for money they did not NEED.

About Michael's sentiments about the rest of his family? I think the will speaks volumes, doesn't it?

I truly believe that those kids are as smart as they as BECAUSE Michael home schooled them..he took them places to educate them that NO public school would take them. To me it was the way she said it like....ooooo..they were home schooled...I felt like saying...SO WHAT..atleast when Michael was here he wasn't exploiting them for a fake charity...and he didnt sign a contract with scum like Mann. That part of the interview really bugged me.

I truly believe that those kids are as smart as they as BECAUSE Michael home schooled them..he took them places to educate them that NO public school would take them. Jermaine tried to compete with Michael, and I hope Katherine is not trying to compete with Michael as the "best dad ever" to use Paris' words.
