Grammy discussion, Video links, Pictures..... [ Prince & Paris attend ] ALL threads merged.

I was really suprised by the British press' reaction to it. Every news outlet said what a wonderful and touching job the kids did, even the dreaded tabloids.

You'd have have a really bad soul to criticize and insult kids (who have just lost their father) in an article. So they better be nice! Or they'll get their asses kicked.

errrrr yes i would! what is a crappy award compared to those children's lives? i know the children have been on soo many news shows since last night and it really pisses me off. they are not 'celebs'. and this is only happening cuz they were on the grammys.
it would be a lot better if i knew for sure that it was their idea but.....

and i'm not being funny or anything, but it would be really good to not see the kids on tv, in magazines or anything because at least then i know they are not being stalked by paps.

children need stability and normality, especially when something traumatic happens in their lives so i hope they don't make any more apprearances.

I understand what your saying and to some extent I agree with you but I also think their normality will always be different than what you might be talking about.
They are MJ's kids. People will forever have an interest in them. That is their nomality as a celeb kid in this day in age then add to the fact that they are MJ's kids compounds that interest.
Of course their appearance was going to make news I didn't expect anything less. It was honestly the best moment of the show.

I think katherine has been very shrewd about what the kids have attended and what they haven't. They haven't been in the public eye since the funeral.
I don't count the paps pics because they have no control over that and plus I think someone is tipping off the paps but that a different topic.
They seem strong, healthy, smart and poised and well more mature than their years.
but I agree I hope this is the last thing they do for awhile

Re: Big surge for Grammys over Jackson

They better pull their acts together and rethink their methods otherwise the industry is gonna die!

Dig real talent or get lost!

The only way I'm watching is if they get up and honour Michael more!

Re: Big surge for Grammys over Jackson

I know, it was the Michael Jackson power factor all over, this is the last time, i wont be watching the Grammys ANYMORE, nor the other award shows either, maybe the Oscars if beyonce is not there hahaha, im tired of her...

Re: Big surge for Grammys over Jackson

I'm not gonna be watcing The grammys either...and just to spite them, I'll be watching each of Michael concerts for EVERY Award show there are gonna be... That will show them...lol...

But Many of you have said it...With out Michael...its tasteless...boring :bored: Not gonna be watching it...may be if i missed something "good", I might watch it on YT... thats pretty fair...dont u think?

exactly
, we love you Youtube

Re: Big surge for Grammys over Jackson

Same with me. I used to watch awards shows only because I secretly hoped MJ would appear. I honestly never cared much about the other artist and who got/wore/performed what.

Re: Big surge for Grammys over Jackson

Glad to see them giving him the credit for the ratings boost.

Yes I feel the same way. I am not surprised it was because of Michael. We had to wait almost 2 hours to see the tribute. That was the last time I will watch the Grammys too. They and other shows are just not the same anymore.

Re: Big surge for Grammys over Jackson

Of course! Not surprised by this at all. Michael WAS the music industry. Without him, there is nothing left. I too will never watch the grammy's again! What is the point?!

Exactly! This was the last time for me aswell.

i mean normal for them, when mj was here they weren't paraded around in 'cute' matching outfits or up on stage in front of millions. that's what i mean by normal and stability.. they should just be doing the things they did when michael was here so they can feel 'normal'. but ok, i wont go on about it anymore, just airing my views. i hope they are happy and that is all...

give it a rest already, they are NOT being ''paraded'' around. They went to an award show for the first time, to receive the award on their fathers behalf. You make it sound like all Katherine and the JAcksons, do is parading/pimping these children around. Which is NOT the case. They wanted to honor their dad, it's not like they are doing this every month.

Re: Big surge for Grammys over Jackson

Grammy idiots seem to have forgotten long ago the power of the king. Idiots, if they honored Michael they way he deserved they would have enjoyed attention for years. Every time he puts out an album, he shatters everybody. He is simply the most accomplished ever. Yet, he won 18 Grammys and Beyonce won 16!!!!! Nothing against B, but Michael is in an entirely different realm of talent. They always feared MJ would dominate the world, and despite their attempts, he did. Taylor Swift who is absolute rubbish wins Grammys for god's sake. By these standards, MJ should have won a hundred Grammys.

Now i think that compared to these winners he should have NOT won any awards  beyonce should have won 1 or 2 the most but now she has 16???? :bugeyed wtf??? bah.. let her win 1000 awards, they are laughable... she stole everything Michael did, yet noone noticed it, oh well they pretended not to see it, the drill, her army, sorry Michael-s army last night... cant she at least say, "YES I DID THAT CAUSE I SAW THIS IS IT AND I HAVE NO IDEAS" or in other way...

What?? She copied the drill? I didn't watch so I don't know.

yeah totally when she entered, she had an army, they were all dressed as if it was the Drill, then of course she started her song and the other one... but I mean she always did everything Michael did, only that she did it in a femenine way and she does not gives him any credits..., yeah, not even now...

Anyway i wont be watching the grammys anymore, GLAD of it

Re: Big surge for Grammys over Jackson

Michael Jackson has ALWAYS been THE draw for these award shows and last night proved it once more.

Oh, so glad someone else noticed that, Beyonce really did a copy cat type of thing that was somewhat like Michael's 'The Drill'....the minute I saw that I was like, thats Michael's!LOL

The kids did an amazing job. To speak in front of all those people and being watched by how many around the world. I loved what they wore. It was to honor their dad. I don't think we are going to see a lot of the kids. I think when something is important to them. I appreciated them thanking the fans like that. It was a nice thing to do. Their father died and they wanted to accept an important award for him. They wanted to represent their dad. It was as simple as that. It was a great thing to do and I am sure Michael would be proud of them on what they said and how they were.

yeah, me too :) what a happy day it was when Prince was born. Michael's first-born. We had a huge celebration in Moscow. It was as if we all had a son that day :D And now look at him, all grown up.

Wow....That part about you all celebrating in Moscow just blew me away................

After years and years of complaining about being used/abused by the music industry the Mo'town crowd appears to have moved from melodic staple past objectifying scantily clad women and trash talking rap thugs to parading children on stage (on command) for the iconic feel good moment between acts... I sincerely hope these children of a lesser god can have a normal life now and not one in which the adults controlling their inheritance keep going to the well and using the children as ratings props. Will they ever stop milking that cash cow?

Not my words but of another...i DEF agree with the last bit

If it was Michael's kids I would be thinking to myself, why did they bash and criticize EVERYTHING Michael ever did?
now he's gone,.. you know how it goes.

Yep, guess they couldn't handle to be criticized  Stupid ...!
I read the article because someone here (don't remember who it was, sorry, there are just too many pages) copied it before it was deleted. It is a shocking article, unbelievable. And this is a paper with a good reputation. Well, I hope Nora chokes on her own spit for that! She got only bad comments for her article. Even tabloids like "Bild" (equivalent to the "Sun") had nice words for Prince and Paris.

Anyway, I really liked the tribute. And when Prince and Paris came on stage, I got very emotional and couldn't stop crying. I am so happy it was them who accepted the award. Prince's voice is so deep and they have both grown so much. Oooh, and I really liked that 3T accompanied them. That was very sweet. They always had MJ's back, and they do the same for the children.
God bless them all.

when mj was here they weren't paraded around in 'cute' matching outfits or up on stage in front of millions.

 I thought that was a really nice honor to their father. They did this for Michael...and I believe they did this for themselves also.

I really feel that this moment was important to them and that's why Prince worked up such lovely a speech. I truly feel that if this wasn't something they wanted to do, then they wouldn't have done it.

I read in an article earlier that last night after the show, Prince didn't let Michael's Grammy award out of his sight...

I havent seen any of this yet. The highlights are on ITV2 in the UK tomorrow at 9 so hopfully all of this shall be on then

 tribute was good. I especially love smokey's singing there.. but Michael's topped it all. I dont think other performers could replace him. I miss him so much and I miss him going to stage to take his own awards especially the grammy 1984 and 1993???? I want to rewind the time so badlY !!!!

Smokey.......really smoked here..............

Awesome..................

& ushers presence made it soooo personal and heartfelt

He did an amazing job,

Usually Jermaine Jackson ccepts Michael's, and quiete frankly he seems to have a memory problem since he barely remembers who the awards are for. When Jermaine hits a stage everything is about himself, his wife, his children and his God.

'.has a 'memory problem',.such a subtle dig......'

LOVE IT

I have just watched the tribute and the childrens speech at Youtube. Brave and well done by them- Michael would be proud of them, and I have a feeling that the children also wanted to do this. I think that they are very mutch aware of everything going on. This is bright and well educated children, and no matter what happens I think they will have the strength to find their own path in life.

Watching this also made me miss Michael, it made me again feel the loss. I don`t think that will ever change. I so wish he had still been here, and that the message he wanted us to hear was performed by him in London.
