[Discussion] Sexual Abuse Claims Against MJ Estate - Robson/ Safechuck/ Doe

Re: [Discussion] Wade Robson / James Safechuck file claim of sexual abuse against MJ-Estate

^ Yes, it's a show on the decline and on the verge of being cancelled.

Season 9 saw a slight uptick in ratings early on, with each of the season's first five episodes garnering between six and seven million viewers, but the rise was short-lived and the show's ratings hit a new low of 4.16 million viewers on August 29, 2012. Season 10 maintained similar numbers, averaging about 4 million viewers per episode in 2013, with a 4.3 million viewership for the last episode of the season, an all-time series low for a finale.[SUP][16]
[/SUP]Despite the show being picked up for an 11th season prior to the conclusion of the 10th, in April 2014, Nigel Lythgoe released a number of comments via Twitter in which he announced that season 11 could be the final season of the show and appealing to fans to share the information ahead of the 11th season's May premiere in an attempt to augment the show's ratings for the upcoming season and bolster its chances at renewal thereafter.[SUP][16][/SUP][SUP][17][/SUP]

I wouldn't call the last SYTCYD show as something Wade actively contributed - at least not without more info. They danced to old favorites and one of them was a routine Wade did at season 3 and won an emmy. His wife's post show that they were in attendance. Someone needs to watch the show to see if a) Wade was present during rehearsals of the routine and b) if the camera showed him after the routine was completed.

The judges just chose old favourite numbers and Robson and whatshername's (I don't know her name / his wife) Hummingbird routine was picked. There were no rehearsals shown, and as far as I could see throughout the show the camera never showed either of them?

thanks Tinny for the report. I know you like the show the way I used to, and I got home purposely in time to watch it (and really watch for Wade), and even set my old VCR to record in case I missed something. But I was multi tasking and every time I looked at the tv it had a commercial. Well, I thought the show started at 8 and it started at 7. I missed the whole thing.

It couldn't have been good bc do many commercials took up most of the time. EW sent a review to my inbox today. Paula Abdul picked Wades piece :( but there wasn't much else. No Neil, Sabra, pasha, Danny, all the dancers who went on to be choreographers on DWTS. I think Paula picked Wades dance bc of the Emmy. Not deserved. I don't know why they love that dance.

Re: [Discussion] Wade Robson / James Safechuck file claim of sexual abuse against MJ-Estate

In the Entertainment Weekly article's comment section about the show someone mentioned another one of Robson's old routines as her favourite. I looked it up. It is so totally Ghosts (mixed with some Thriller moves at the end) IMO, only with not as difficult moves.

BTW, there weren't many comments in that comment section. It does not seem to be a very popular show any more.

The reason I liked Robson so much is because I saw how much of MJ was in his dancing (he's in that video if you didn't notice) and his choreography. I wondered then and still do now if Robson was still getting tips from Mike when he was on the show (and if he actually watched the show?) Secondly, this routine was back in 2006. I was 1 year out of high school. Time sure does fly by. Makes me sad knowing all that was going on back then / where we are now. Bizarre.

**** off now Robsin

Re: [Discussion] Wade Robson / James Safechuck file claim of sexual abuse against MJ-Estate

2.48 was the ratings for the show that night. "American Idol" is set to retire, why not this show.

Thanks for posting this, Respect. It's funny how much like Ghosts it is-at the time, I kept thinking it reminded me of something, but didn't click.
2006 was the year I accidentally discovered this show and it really used to be fantastic. That was also the same time that I connected Wade to the Wade who testified to the Wade who danced in Jam and Black or White. (I never watched MTV so I wasn't aware of Wade's show or any of his choreography glories with NSync and Brittney Spears-learned about those from SYTYCD). I'm sure Michael was watching the show and giving him pointers-his mother said he watched DWTS too-

I'm sorry that the show just isn't good anymore-it hurt it (and DWTS) when they cut it down to one night-they used to spend more time on the rehearsal process and you really got to know them and how dance routines were constructed. But second nights have too much filler. So don't know what would be a happy medium between the two.

I think they both should be cancelled. And I hope we get a decision about Wade and Safechuck next week!

Re: [Discussion] Wade Robson / James Safechuck file claim of sexual abuse against MJ-Estate

I would pay an obscene amount of money just to watch MJ watching SYTYCD and/or DWTS while his little brain ticked away at everything going on. Wow. As a teenager I had hoped one day he would go onto SYTYCD, even in it's early stages (I was an idealistic kid.) I was always "this is a dancing show ... why not get the world's most well known and respected dancer, the innovator himself? Besides, he's worked with and/or knows half the people on the show anyhow?" Haha. My 18 year old brain *sigh*

Re: [Discussion] Wade Robson / James Safechuck file claim of sexual abuse against MJ-Estate

It would have been interesting to see Michael as a Judge on SYTYCD or American Idol. Maybe he would have been to nice to critique people. LOL. But then he could stay nice and still put his point across. It certainly would have been interesting. But then it was never gonna happen. I think it was in the rabbi's book where he said he consciously turns down such offers because these programs over-expose you and that is not a good thing for an artist.

Re: [Discussion] Wade Robson / James Safechuck file claim of sexual abuse against MJ-Estate

He was right about the over exposure-see the variety show for example and just what it did to Donny Osmond, who really is enormously talented. Probably depends on where you are in your career and what you do on the show.

But at the same time it can also work for you. I don't think Adam Levine or Blake Shelton would be even half as popular without judging the Voice.
Think Michael would be a kind and constructive judge, as he was in TII. Probably funny too.
Harry Connick jr. is a great judge bc he really knows his musical stuff, but no one watches Idol anymore.

Re: [Discussion] Wade Robson / James Safechuck file claim of sexual abuse against MJ-Estate

I read only half of this, and I'm sure it's great, (so I'll save it and read) but I don't agree that Wade could have been molested by somebody when he was a baby-I honestly think he is just a liar.

And how did 4 yr old Wade perform Smooth Criminal in 86 when Bad didn't come out for another year?

(And I really wish that people would use charged and convicted pedophiles for examples, rather than Woody Allen, who was investigated and NOT charged-they are plenty of people they can use as examples).

Is that a music video he's shooting?

ETA: Looking at that Instagram it seems more like some sort of sports club or something.

don't confuse it with that that guy does, he shoots action sports but those got nothing to do with robson imo. the other instagram photo was from a dancer.

I hope it flops I hope it is surrounded in bad light. I hope he comes to his bloody senses and stops this shame on himself.
Stop your lying about Mike !!!!!
..
Thumbs down already wade.??

Re: [Discussion] Wade Robson / James Safechuck file claim of sexual abuse against MJ-Estate

Regardless of what happens with his career, I think it safe to say he's not going down as one of the greatest directors in film history.

Donny Osmond talked about how he went to see Michael with his brother, Jimmy Osmond. Jimmy helped Michael, through Jimmy's business contacts, so that Michael was able to tour Japan. Donny states that Michael told him to change his name, because of what you have brought out. Michael allegedly told Donny that his name was poison, which is why Donny wouldn't allow his name to be mentioned when he finally had a hit record in 1987.

I couldn't help thinking with the latest leak, Michael singing a song about the hearing impaired, how Marie Osmond started up the Children's Miracle Network, because of her two older deaf brother's, Virl and Tommy Osmond.

??
Why wouldn't Michael be able to tour in Japan?
He toured in Japan as J5, so what changed that he couldn't tour there as solo act?

Re: [Discussion] Wade Robson / James Safechuck file claim of sexual abuse against MJ-Estate

I'm not worried about Wade having a job, I think it could be a good sign. They probably know Wade won't see a dime from this case.

And I'm also not worried because I don't think his career will take off.

There was some kind of government negotiations behind the scenes that Jimmy helped with and to this day he gives all credit to Michael for his career in entertainment mgmt.

I always thought it really odd that as a very young kid, Jimmy became a superstar in Japan. Performing virtually all alone. Mr. Osmond is quite the ruthless backstage father if you read between the lines, and I have no doubt that Mr. Jackson pales in comparison.

It's the business contacts, that Jimmy Osmond was involved with in negotiating for Michael.

I did eventually get to work with Michael for two years. I worked with him over a two year period during the Bad Tour and the release of the Bad album. I had always known Michael and we were always friendly, but to actually work with him was a real treat. We became close enough to have some really cool conversations. At the time I was heavily into producing other people, and he allowed me to work with him when there was another deal that was better than mine; but Michael wanted to work with me. By doing that he really opened up the floodgates of opportunity for me. He didn’t have to do that but he was really a kind hearted guy.

Again, it’s one of those experiences that you tell people about and they don’t believe you Kevin. It was a really cool thing to have worked with him. I felt bad later in life after we had done what we had done together, that we didn’t really keep in touch like I wish that we had. But sometimes you get intimidated, and I was a little intimidated when someone reaches that level. I thought that Michael wouldn’t have wanted to hear from me but I also felt that there really was a connection between us. He connected with my brother Donny as well but our connection was a bit different. It wasn’t that we just exchanged life experiences; Michael was a business man and that is something that I have always tried to be and so it was fun to be collaborating at that level because the guy was a master marketer.

Whenever Michael had a meeting with his publicist he would allow me to sit in and listen. I would just sit there like a fly on the wall and listen to what was basically a master class on marketing.

James Arthur Osmond, (for that is Little Jimmy’s real name) went on to become quite a good friend of Michael Jackson. He went on to work for the King Of Pop during the ‘Bad’ Tour in the 80s. The Japanese leg of the tour was sponsored by Pepsi and the Japanese TV Company Nippon TV. It was Jimmy that negotiated the sponsorship deal with Nippon TV.

Michael Jackson : An Eccentric Superstar Makes Marketing a Tricky Proposition
October 11, 1987|BRIDGET BYRNE | Bridget Byrne is a Los Angeles-based entertainment writer and television producer.

Alan Levine, president of the international division of Hudson's Ice Cream, was also pleased with Jackson's reception in Japan. Hudson's, a Santa Barbara-based company, is the top ice-cream retailer in Japan after only two years of business there. Looking toward expanding beyond its 22 stores, it arranged a tie-in with Jackson's pet chimpanzee, Bubbles, which accompanied him to Japan. The chimp is represented in the stores by a replica from a new line of stuffed animals called "Michael's Pets." The purchase of this plush toy at a Hudson's store comes with a free ice cream. "We view Jackson's concert audience as the same type of people who eat our ice cream," says Levine.

The Nippon Television Network has just negotiated an exclusive deal with Jackson for a two-hour, prime-time special documenting his tour, to be televised Oct. 31. The deal was arranged through 24-year-old Jimmy Osmond, formerly of the Osmond Brothers and now a concert promoter, through his friendships with Jackson and with Soaya Shirai, special-projects producer for NTV. NTV regards the deal as its greatest coup since it televised a Beatles concert in 1966. Besides more visibility for Pepsi, the program will also showcase the involvement of tour co-sponsor Nippon Telegraph & Telephone, whose current promotional gimmick is a phone credit card with Jackson's picture on it.

THE JAPANESE MEDIA SEEM much more willing to accept the total Jackson rather than to pick away at his eccentricities. "People in Japan tend to look inside a person, and they see that, 'So what if he appears a little weird, he's a cool guy inside,' " says Jimmy Osmond, who has lived in Japan and has known Jackson since they were children and the Jackson Five and the Osmond Brothers were friendly rivals. But in America and Europe, the press is not so polite, and these days it isn't getting much access to Jackson. With Jackson, marketing takes precedence over cooperation when it comes to publicity.

When one understands how Jimmy Osmond is enlightening us about Michael's marketing skills, it is more plausable why Robson and Safechuck are after the Estate!
