What I am surprised about the most is that there is a lot of fans that are happily discussing in their blogs how good and topical Breaking News is. I mean they have no doubt at all!

my initial INSTINCT was it was entirely fake just old mj snippets added n the song done in the style of mj

i heard the rock my world type beats in the first few secs

b4 it was up fully up i doubted the 'OW' we had to go on, but didnt want to feel paranoid

i thought that the first time i heard it and also felt in the same listening that it sounded slightly similar to 'my prerogative' by bobby brown

i also thought the hee hee hee sounded like it was cut from in the closet 5:12 (3.20 in bn)

these were on FIRST listen NOT overanalysing

holy crap thats crazy! thats EXACTLY what i thought the first time i listenened to breaking news too , my perogative popped in my head after 20 seconds of listening to it. and i loved my perogative , and i LOOOOOVE breaking news its so new and its a good feel and teddy riley did his best and did a damn good job at it too.

btw thier are SO many people on this forum that are so bitter just crying and whining its not michael its not this its not that. You people are so god damn negative its making me sick to my stomach. The fewer fans that buy this album the more the media will try and say that this album is a flop! and thats the last thing we want another invincible.

Guys did sony advertise for an MJ sound alike??
How did they no that the singer, his family would never tell the truth..Murder them??

The cascio tracks do sound different does that mean ther fake you can change any
ones voice if you want, who knows what MJ might of been sampleing/trying new things experimenting?? now one can say for sure, you cant jump to 100% fake

Could it be that if an impersonator is singing and if Sony is allowed to get away with filling in Michael's vocals on the single "Breaking News" that a reason to "rush the fake ones" is possibly they are planning now or in the future to pay half of Michael's higher royalties to some tribute artist wanna be or pretend to do that but divert the money into Sony accts.

What if their plan is to release a bunch of incomplete songs by skipping over complete tracks to add more profit to Sony's margin?

Yes, you can change anyones voice and with the right equipment they could have an impersonator to sing into a voice enhacer with an effect created of Michael's voice tone and confuse the heck out of us all...

I don't know what's been done but in my opinion they have either altered and compressed Michael's voice where the fans aren't certain it's his or they have used some tribute artist wanna be to try to sing his vocals. No one can fill Michael's shoes and he deserves the best. We'll fight for that.

I'm listening right now, and there's definitely weaving in and out of his vocals, along with someone else, of course...Obviously a rough demo of next to NO vocals that Mike left in the vault...I just don't understand why they would even bother to bring it to fruition if they had to fix it up THIS much.....I can definitely hear Michael in this...But so little, that I just think it should be left out...

This is what I've been thinking too...I think they are slowly replacing replacing the imposter vocals with MORE Michael vocals...hence, why the track sounds different to me, and several other people who have listened again...I think it's the publicity stunt, and I agree with what you said about Teddy...

If it were a publicity stunt don't you think the fans reaction by now would move them to make a statement? People have been cancelling CD's and more are planning to, Sony is on the verge of being boycotted across the board.

The family were the ones who said the tracks were fake, the fans are skeptical at best, Sony set us up for a fall with the 30 second teaser with no vocal and made us plummet into confusion with the full track.

Maybe they were test marketing us like guinea pigs seeing if we would be so desperate as to go for anything, if it didn't sound quite like Michael.

Maybe they are planning on divvying up royalty proffits by bringing an impersonator in, heck how many people try to mimick Michael's voice- it didn't even have to be a known impersonator there are people who grew up trying to sound like Michael so they are everywhere even at the top (below Michael) of the industry.

People can sit back and plan to wait and see what happens if they want but I plan to expand my efforts with all of the fans who plan to fight to keep Michael's legacy alive and make certain Sony honors him and his music.

I'll forgive them if this is a PR stunt, but i'm thinking it's more than likely not, though it would be very smart of them if it was. People that cancelled will reorder if they admit it was a PR stunt. I mean i love the opening string chords with the media voice overs, georgous chords, and the first 3 chords of the bridge, very MJ. But the main verses and chorus are just not very good, and unfortunantly that is pretty much the whole song.

Yeah, I agree Ark ,I'm listening to it...I can hear Michael some Michael in this as well....As you said they kind of weave around, but he's in there..It's disappointing to see this stuff surrounding because I actually kinda enjoy the song. I find the Chorus so catchy...It might be just best to leave it out..

Perhaps.

There is a version of Breaking News with real MJ vocals. . .

But they re-recorded it with an impersonator and put it out there for publicity and to get people talking.

But then they will reveal the REAL Breaking News, and the family was in on it and everything.

Perhaps its one big PR stunt.

If not, I cant think of many more explanations other than they are just trying to feed us crap and hope we dont notice.

Totally agree - even without the fake singer I find the lyrics very jarring. I don't believe MJ would've written/sung the 'Everybody wanting a piece of Michael Jackson' line - I know he was narcissistic sometimes but he wasn't a total megalomaniac!

I also think it seems like a weird tribute - it has a feeling of hindsight about it. I mean, in 2007 - who wanted a piece of Michael Jackson? Sorry to say it but NO-ONE. He was basically a nomad traveling largely unseen from country to country. He wasn't exactly being hounded by the press.

It just doesn't make sense to me that he would've written these lyrics at that time. Maybe someone else wrote them, showed him, he had a quick sing, it wasn't recorded properly/in high enough quality, he didn't like it, discarded it.

Cascio gave the tapes to Sony, the theme of the song is seen as highly appropriate for the release and they do whatever is necessary to get the tracks up to a releasable standard - ie bring in someone to sing the missing lyrics/sing over MJ.

Michael is not hear to voice himself and let you know the truth. I asked the company to bring in everyone. Professionals, friends, family, and the people who worked with Michael many year and before me. Everyone said it is Michael except the family who says its not because there’s no proof.
All I’m gonna say here is that I believe its MJ. The truth of this of it all no one knows be MJ and god knows.
I have nothing more to say and I can’t prove anything…I did not original produce his vocals nor these songs. I remix, made the tracks different from what they had which would have been unacceptable. I’ve answered all that I can answer for MJ fan. The Cascios have a tweeter page…they have your answers.

The bolded says it all for me. Teddy got the vocals originally produced, and he cannot say about the validity of the songs. He directs us to the Cascios.
